Abstract:This paper theoretically analyzes the interaction mechanism among institutional change,financial structure adjustment and economic growth,and empirically verifies that national institutional change inflicts promotion or restriction on financial structure adjustment and economic growth by introducing institution variable,which represents comprehensive institutional change,into models about financial structure and economic growth.This paper finds that,when it reaches the equilibrium between supply of institutions and demand of financial structure and economic growth on institutions,national institutions will optimize financial structure and stimulate economic growth,otherwise it appears to be the "inverse proportion" of scale and efficiency,which explains the paradox of scale and efficiency in transitional economies,and furthermore,this paper presents the path selection of financial structure upgrading in China and relevant policy proposals.

Abstract:Institutional reform has been proven to be the main cause of economic growth in China.However,there are still some questions:how is the performance of Chinese institutional reform? Will the incremental and outside system reform still be an important part of Chinese reform? We construct an index system to measure elasticity of institutional reform on the basis of the theoretical logic of institutional reform.We analyze the panel data of 28 provinces during 1982—2011,capture the tendency of institutional elasticity since China implemented the reform and opening-up policy.We find that the institutional elasticity is weakening,and the growth contributed by reform as before is limited and institutional reform is getting harder.If China holds the institutional elasticity as early stage of reform and other assumption keeps still,the ideal output is at least 1.499 times as much as that of 2011.In conclusion,the Chinese economic growth is likely to speed up with the help of further institutional reform.

Abstract:Through the empirical research on the relationship between China's economic transition and economic growth, the author finds that economic growth is the direct inner driving force to promote the deepening of economic institution transition. Although economic transition has long-term impact on economic growth, the impact is not decisive. In the relationship between institution and growth, although institution is an important long-term factor influencing growth, the influence is not decisive. On the contrary, growth has decisive influence on institution. We can draw a conclusion that institutional innovation may succeed more easily in a growth environment, which can be proved by the experiences of China's reform successes.

Abstract:Due to the relative success of Chinese Economy,the historical expe- rience of China to seek modern economic growth may be useful and insightful for the future development of China's Economy and for the developing country to get rid of poverty.This paper exerts a framework that absorbs both related contents of the New Classical Economics and the New Institution Economics to explain the in- herent logic for the evolution of New China's economic history.The conclusion of this paper is,the economic failure before reform is due to the introduction of a so- cial division system which are not compatible to the social institution.So it endoge- nously gives birth to non-market methods to harmonize social production,which blocks institutional evolution.The lack of institutional evolution results in stagna- tion of the level of division,even countermarch.And then the economic success after the reform is because of the drastic development of markets induced by price distortion and shortness of exchange,the advancement of institutional evolution in trade,and the constantly upgrading of the division level.Meanwhile,the harmo- nious instrument should be transformed smoothly.Thus,the paper argues China's future development must promote the institutional evolution of trade to upgrade the division level and for developing countries,the most important thing is that the in- troduction of a social division system must coincide with the social institution so that it can maintain the advantageous market condition for institutional evolution.

Abstract:Since 1990s the macro-control by government has been promoting the fast,continuous and stable growth of Chinese economy.Meanwhile there is another noticeable phenomenon that,along with the continuously expanding of income difference,the biased structure of income distribution has come into being.Through various index this paper describes the characteristics of the structure of income distribution and its changes,expounds its restraints on the growth of economy and the mechanism it plays.We point out that the measures to improve and harmonize the structure of income distribution will be,in short-term,conducive to enhance the effect of macro-control,and in the long run,will stimulate the accumulation of human capital and improvement of capital structure in the whole society, and thereafter the engine of economic growth will be polished.

Abstract:The spectacular economic growth in China during the past four decades has inspired a great deal of research to understand China's unconventional growth path. This review focuses on recent developments in China's institutions, financial markets, innovations, and government–business relations in the context of their roles in supporting China's growth. The government's role in finance and the economy has advantages and disadvantages in comparison to developed markets in the West. Alternative financing channels and governance mechanisms, rather than markets and banks, continue to promote growth in the most dynamic sectors of the economy, despite the fact that China has passed the early-development stage. More research is needed to understand the Chinese experience and determine whether similar mechanisms are behind the growth of other economies.

Abstract:This paper firstly gives a economic explanation about institutions' connotation and introduces two patterns which take North as representative's exogenous pattern and take Schotter. Aoki and Greif as representative's endogenous game pattern in new institutions economics, simultaneously also gives the brief introduction to the Marx economics' institutions view.Then this paper gives a literature review on relations of institutions and growth in the previous analytic foundation,subsequently surveys several representative theories according to China's experience in order to provide the thought inspiration for the following theory.Finally,this paper put forward a theoretical framework for explaining"the enigma of China's growth"according to exogenous pattern based on the existing theory literature and China's transitional characteristics,and provide a China's transitional evidence for solving the relations of institutions and growth.

Abstract:Recent research has demonstrated the important role of social trust in economic growth. As a form of informal institution, social trust and formal institution are inextricable and intrinsically related. This article aims to investigate the relationship between social trust and institution, and their combined effects on economic growth. In an empirical investigation of cross-provincial data in the period 2001-2009 in China, our estimates suggest that the increase in social trust significantly promotes economic growth. The improvement of formal institution is also beneficial to economic growth. The effect of social trust on economic growth depends on the institution level, and this effect weakens with institutional strength.

Abstract:This paper investigates the institutional reason underlying the change in the trajectory of economic growth in post-reform China, and argues that the trajectory of growth was much more normal during the period of 1978-89 than in the post-1989 era. In the former period, growth was largely induced by equality-generating institutional change in agriculture and the emergence of non-state industrial sector. In the latter period, growth was triggered by the acceleration of capital investments under authoritarian decentralized hierarchy within self-contained regions. Such a growth trajectory accelerates capital deepening, deteriorating total factor productivity and leads to rising regional imbalance. This paper further argues that the change in the trajectory of growth is the outcome of changes in political and inter-governmental fiscal institutions following the 1989 political crisis.

Abstract:Based on the provincial panel date,the authors explored the direct and indirect effects of institution and entrepreneurship on the regional economic growth of our country.The results show,first,institutional reform and entrepreneurship not only have impact on the long-term economic growth of our country through promoting technological progress but also influence the current economic growth by affecting capital,labor,allocation efficiency of human capital;then,during 2000-2008,the influence of institutional improvement in the eastern area is mainly shown in the promotion of technological progress whereas it is shown in the enhancement of the growth factor allocation efficiency.Furthermore,the decisive impact of institution on entrepreneurship is also verified in the paper.

Abstract:Seeking sustainable natural resource use and accelerating sustainable economic growth is one of the main tasks for Chinese government in its coming 12th Five-Year Plan for national economy.Thus,how to find a way to achieve the goal is quite important for the policy makers.In order to provide some scientific evidence for policy recommendations,this paper tries to assess different performance levels of sustainable resource use among different economies due to the different institutional settings through a comparison of two indicators based on the data sets from 12 countries and regions including China.The two indicators are the Adjusted Net Savings(ANS) and Aggregate Governance Indicators(AGI) surveyed and published by the World Bank.The statistic analysis findings are that better institutional settings lead to better performance of sustainable resource use and economic growth.After that,the paper further sets up an econometric model to verify the findings,i.e.,good institutional environment is a positive driving factor for sustainable natural resource use,in which the model eliminates the reverse causality of the two factors by using the two stages linear regression method and GLS method for panel data.The result of the regression verifies that there is a significant effect of institutional environment on sustainable resource use,which provides the necessary evidence for the policy makers,i.e.,one unit improvement of good institutional environment can lead to a 8.84 times increase of average value of economic growth and the net savings of the country.According to the findings,the paper concludes that because the current growth of Chinese economy falls into the scope of sustainable ones,and meanwhile there is the space for the improvement of institutional settings,the future Chinese economic growth could maintain sustainablility to a certain extent if the related institutional environment is continuously ameliorated.

Abstract:This paper examines the empirical relationship between the presence of inclusive institutions and the pattern of economic growth in a cross-country setting. We find evidence that the presence of inclusive institutions, indicated by political democracy, positively affects consumption share. In turn, the increase of the latter in the preceding year is associated with a significantly higher rate of total factor productivity (TFP) growth. The link from democracy to TFP growth via consumption is stronger for countries of higher levels of income. These findings suggest that institutional inclusiveness may have become increasingly important for economic growth when the level of income rises. We also provide preliminary evidence that consumption may have facilitated productivity growth via the channels of increasing innovations and reducing social conflicts. The findings shed lights on the structural transformations toward a more inclusive and sustainable model of growth in China today.

Abstract:China's economic development and reform has been entering into a new historian era.And it offered a series of specific questions for us.The key issue for dealing with such questions is on the change of economic growth mode which is based on the technological creation.Technological creation is associated with institutional creation indeed.Hence promoting the productivity becomes the first motive force for the economic mode change under such conditions.In some circumstances,there exists a deep conflict between efficiency and equality.Therefore,keeping the first motive force to the economic sustainable growth needs to solve the problem of social income distribution inequality.Facing to the inequilibrium of social income distribution,we should apply different policy implications vary different reasons in order to deal with the relationship between equality and efficiency appropriately.

Abstract:This paper explores the politically determined development objectives and the intrinsic logic of government intervention policies in east developed countries. It is argued that the distorted institutional structure in China and in many least developed countries, after the Second World War, can be largely explained by government adoption of inappropriate development strategies. Motivated by nation building, most least-developed countries, including the socialist countries, adopted a comparative advantage defying strategy to accelerate the growth of capital-intensive, advanced sectors in their countries. In the paper we also statistically measure the evolution of government development strategies and the economic institutions in China from 1950s to 1980s to show the co-existence and co- evolution of government adoption of comparative advantage defying strategy and the trinity system.

Abstract:Based on theories of traditional economy growth,such as capital-decided theory,technology-decided theory,human resource-decided theory,and knowledge-decided theory,authors analyze the relationship between institution change of highway transportation development since 1949 and its achievement according to new institutional economics theory. The analysis shows that institution is of extreme importance in highway transportation development from 1949 to 2000. Authors give a new concept-institutional boundary of manufacture factor and highlight that institutional boundary has the characteristic of changing keeping up with economy,technology and other manufacture factors. Authors build a new theory frame and model of economy growth on the basis of statistics analysis. In order to promote the institutional equilibrium from low-level to a high-level and improve the productivity of manufacture factor,advice on institution innovation has been stated at the end of the paper.

Abstract:In this paper,we study China's economic sustained growth since reform and opening up by means of a Barro regression model.And find that economic system and structure of the evolution,which includes industrialization and urbanization,marketing and consumer promotions,has strong effects on sustained growth,where has the total contribution of 40% in the early and in the latter for 80%.Input elements,which includes capital goods human capital,labor force,science and technology has the weak effects,where has the total contribution of 60% in the early and only 20% in the latter.The role of the capital goods,human capital and labor force has continued down U-curve to sustained growth.At the same time,the follow advantage for China's economic sustained growth is significant with L-curve.
