Abstract:A new steel-concrete composite arch is introduced.It consists of bottom bolted thin steel arch and top fresh concrete.To examine the characters of bolted connections in the arches,seven composite arches are tested by one centered load to failure.The parameters of anchorage,concrete cover,and negative reinforced bars are studied.It is concluded that bolted connection will deeply shadow the behaviors of bolted steel-concrete composite structures during serves.

Abstract:The load transfer mechanism and deformation characteristics of cast-in-place piles in composite foundation with rigid-flexible piles are different from that in free state. Working property of pile is complex due to interaction between rigid pile, flexible pile and soil. Static load tests of the same pile under different situation are carried out in Wenzhou. On the basis of monitoring data in the process of static load test, settlement characteristics, load transfer mechanism and compression of pile shaft are analyzed; the conclusions can benefit to engineering design and construction.

Abstract:Fastener-style steel pipe formwork scaffolding system is a body made up of different components, such as plates, rods, blocks of space structure system,Force process of its being repeatedly affected by construction technology,and providing a comprehensive analysis of mechanical characteristics of each component in the system is relatively difficult.But only in the design and analysis of vertical rods as object design and analysis is not enough, vertical Rod itself is not a simple one-way rod of, it is in the system and the horizontal rod, floor stiffness, the upper cord and the ribs and other components affected.Therefore, from the overall awareness of fastener-style steel pipe formwork support system, a comprehensive analysis of connection characteristics, and interactions between the various components,thus summed up the practical computing model for each component in order to essentially recognize the bracket system, eliminate the source of accidents fundamentally.

Abstract:Considering semi-rigid connections, a 3-D FEM was established to simulate the fastener-style tubular steel formwork-support and the analysis was performed together with an experimental study of the torsion stiffness of right couplers. Both the linear and nonlinear buckling techniques were employed to determine the stability of the formwork-supports. In the nonlinear analytical model, Initial imperfection, plastic behavior and large deflection response of the formwork-supports were taken into account. Numerical results indicated the linear buckling loads were higher than that obtained from the nonlinear stability analysis. Nonlinear buckling analysis was employed to calculate the stability bearing capacity for cases of different design variables, and then the results were converted into effective length coefficients that are generally used in practice. The influence factors on the stability bearing capacity were studied. It was pointed out that the effects of initial imperfection and semi-rigid connection on the stability bearing capability are important, also a bolt tightening torque of 40 N·m was found to be quite reasonable.

Abstract:By centrifugal casting outer 10# carbon steel first and inner casting stainless steel 1Cr18Ni9Ti secondly,the hollow pipe was machined,the carbon steel/stainless steel composite pipe φ47mm×4.5mm was obtained by hot extrusion and cold rolling.The producing process of the composite pipe was studied.The results show that the outer and inner layers are integrated well.The thichness of inneer stainless steel is uniform and the chemical composition is well-distributed and the crystalline grains are obviously refined.The tensile strength and yield strength of the composite pipe are higher than those of normal 1Cr18Ni9Ti.The percentage elongation decreases a little.And the grain-boundary corrosion,bending test and flattening test are qualified.Sot the entrifugal compound casting-hot extrusion-cold rolling process for the composite pipe is feasible.

Abstract:The carbon steel/stainless steel composite pipe was prepared by centrifugal compound casting-hot extrusion-cold rolling. SEM was employed in detecting the microstructure and alloy element distribution maps in stainless steel of composite pipe. The mechanical properties were measured through tensile test. The corrosion resistance of the composite pipe was detected in acid, alkali and salt solutions. The results show that the outer and inner layers are integrated with good metallurgical behavior, and the mechanical properties of the composite pipe are satisfactory, the chemical compositions are well-distributed. The grain-boundary corrosion test is qualified. This composite pipe has better corrosion resistance in 10%H2SO4and 10%NaOH solution than in FeCl3solution at room temperature.

Abstract:Failure of fastener-style tubular steel formwork is one of the key issues faced in safe construction at present.In order to provide the basis for the working-out Technical Rule for Steel Tubular Formwork Support with Couplers in Building Construction,a calculation model for construction system of fastenerstyle steel tubular formwork support was founded by means of software "ANSYS" and sensitivity analysis of main parameters that dominate the ultimate capacity was conducted.Relative sensitivity curves were obtained,which supply a reliable basis for erecting fastener-style steel tubular formwork support.

Abstract:The pylon is one of the key force-bearing structures of a cable-bearing bridge. Combining the advantages of factory manufacturing and modular installation of steel pylons, and the higher rigidity and lower cost of reinforced concrete pylons, a steel shell-concrete composite pylon is proposed. In this article, the structural construction of a steel shell-concrete composite pylon is introduced in detail. The structural mechanical properties, action mechanism of the stiffened slab rib and both transverse and vertical tenon are probed. Also, design theories, principles and methods are established. The industrialized construction technology of steel shell-concrete composite pylons is studied. The test results show that the interface strain of the steel shell-concrete composite pylon satisfies the assumption of plane section. During the whole loading process, the steel shell and the concrete can work together to give full play to the role of steel and concrete. In practice, the construction of the Nanjing Jiangxinzhou Yangtze River Bridge has demonstrated that 80% of the construction workload of steel shell-concrete composite pylons can be factory completed, the construction speed can be increased significantly and the labor input for on-site construction operations can be reduced by 75%.

Abstract:In the present study we fabricated Al/Steel composite by explosive expansion in order to obtain a composite pipe with both good mechanical properties and fine anticorrosion properties.In our fabrication a metal detonation cord with high a detonation velocity was used as the energy source,and the water was used as the pressure medium.The ultrasonic inspection of the fabricated product shows that the binding rate,the radial deformation rate and the bending percentage of the composite pipe are 100%, 0.65% and 0.12% respectively.The compression-shear and metallographic tests were also performed to characterize the composite pipe,and the results are as follows:the bonding strength is 3.27 MPa, higher than the officially required minimum value in the construction industry and the petrochemical industry.In addition,the bonding interface is flat and smooth,without evidence of any partial over-melting occurring,and the inter-diffusion between Al and steel is found to have occurred.

Abstract:Composite structutres and high strength concrete (HC) are developed very fast in China recent year. Steel beam and HC slabs are connected with stud shear connectors to form composite steel HC beams that can be widely used in the fields of bridge and buliding structures. In order to investigate the performance of stud shear connectors in composite steel HC beams, and provide the design basis of composite steel HC beams, experiments of composite steel HC beams and push out tests were conducted. On the basis of test results and analyses, recommendations were proposed for the shear capacity prediction of stud shear connectors in composite steel HC beams. The results are valuable as the basis of design for composite steel HC beams in practice.

Abstract:Four I-section specimens have been produced, and epoxy resin structural adhesive and bolts have been used to combine the cold-formed thin-walled C steel with bamboo-wood composite plate, through which the cooperative work performance of the combined column was detected, and the failure mode and mechanism were explored. The feature of load vs. deflection and load vs. strain was also analyzed. Then stiffness and calculation formula of bearing capacity were proposed. The results show that the unitary mechanical behavior and plastic properties are very good, and the combined column is divided into three stages from loading to failure, including adhesive cracking, local area degumming and failure. And the stiffness accords with double slash model in serviceability

Abstract:The paper was mainly focused on the study of composite trusses,by conducting static loading tests on 3 sets of composite trusses and 3 sets of steel trusses(2 trusses per set).Through the tests,the composite trusses and steel trusses were compared in mechanic performance,rigidity,deformation,and moment capacity,etc.After comparing,the conclusions were drawn that in the composition,the mechanical performance of the chords and webs,and structural stability were greatly improved,and the rigidity and moment capacity were increased.So,the composite trusses were more economical for engineering application.It was also proposed the formulas for calculating the shortterm stiffness,deflection and elastic moment capacity,and methods for calculating the ultimate moment capacity for composite trusses,which all were verified by the test results.

Abstract:The structural strengthening with steel plate and concrete composite is a new method based on the theories of steel and concrete composite girders.In this paper,the practical application of the method to the strengthening of reinforced concrete bridges is presented.Practice proves that the strengthening with the composite has obvious advantages of not reducing headroom under the original bridges and not requiring surface evenness of the structures.The composite can significantly improve the carrying capacity,rigidity and collision-proof capacity of the bridges and may contribute a new way to the strengthening of aged bridges.

Abstract:With the construction of large bridges in the deep sea, people are paying more and more attention to stability of bridge piles. The deep sea-bridge could be affected by many factors, and the force mechanism is very complicated. In this paper, the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge navigation hole steel composite pile is used as the prototype pier. We establish 1:7.33 scale model and the same proportion of RC pile by analysis software, and make a comparison under compression, bending and shear load. Analysis results shows that pipe can improve the mechanical properties of core concrete and reduce the displacement of structure. The seismic response time history analysis of two kinds of structure shows that steel composite pile has larger lateral stiffness, smaller lateral displacement and better seismic performance.

Abstract:In this paper, the torsional moment of the right-angle fastener bolt is taken as the main research parameter, and the torsional stiffness performance of the right-angle fastener under different working conditions is studied experimentally. By establishing the moment–rotation relationship model of the node, the mechanical performance and rotation characteristics of the semirigid connection of the node are studied. According to the joint stiffness value determined by the experimental study and the theory of semirigid connection frame with lateral displacement, the calculation formulas of the stiffness correction coefficient αu of the transverse bar and the constraint coefficient K at the end of the vertical bar are derived, and the effective length coefficient μ of the vertical bar and the theoretical value of the stable bearing capacity of the vertical bar under different working conditions are given. Compared with the current standard values, it is found that the theoretical calculation results of the percentage increase of the stable bearing capacity of the vertical bar are 3 to 4 times larger than the standard calculation results when the step distance is reduced. The theoretical calculation method can better consider the semirigid characteristics of the joint and the influence of adjacent members on the stable bearing capacity of the vertical bar.

Abstract:Steel-precast ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) composite structures with high-strength friction-grip bolt (HSFGB) shear connectors offer several advantages, such as shortening the onsite construction time, making it possible to replace deteriorated components rapidly, and improving structural durability. However, there is limited investigation on steel-UHPC composite structures with HSFGB shear connectors. Addressing this issue, this study presents a systematic experimental study on shear behaviors of HSFGB shear connectors in steelprecast UHPC composite structures by conducting 18 push-out tests. The major considered parameters are the slab concrete type, bolt grade, bolt diameter, slab thickness, pretension force, and arrangement of the shear connectors. Test results demonstrated that the shear capacity and friction resistance can be enhanced with increasing in the bolt grade and bolt diameter. In addition, there was no reduction in the shear strength of each bolt as the shear connectors were arranged in a group, and even with the spacing decreased to 80 mm. Moreover, it was recommended that the HSFGB and UHPC can be optimally utilized with a 75-mm-thickness prefabricated UHPC panels. Finally, more accurate formulas were developed for predicting the shear capacity and the load-slip relationship of HSFGB shear connectors in steel-precast UHPC composite structures, which provided feasible design approaches for engineers.

Abstract:Composite structures has been rapidly developed and broadly used in engineering field .A mount of mechanical connections are still existed in composite structures because of the difficulties of integral molding .It is urgent to improve its security and economic efficiency .Aiming at this , it analyzes the connecting structure in composite panel and titanium alloy under tension load .Connection strength experiments are detailedly executed . The maximum connection load , stress and strain , load transferring path and dangerous bolts are tested and ana-lyzed.The experimental results are compared with those simulations .Some important results are obtained and analyzed .

Abstract:The glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) possess excellent properties so as to be applied in many fields. In this paper, extrusion experiment of the connection property between full-scale composite member and steel sleeve has been conducted. Based on the test of the designed specimens, the failure process and failure characteristics were observed, the load-displacement curves and strain distribution of the specimens were obtained. The grout was utilized to strengthen the connection property and the experiment results showed the method could actually increase the connection strength of the joint. The connection performance of the component was analyzed to provide the basis for engineering application of bonded steel sleeve connection for composite member.

Abstract:Considering shortcomings of the current technology in controlling ground surface settlement and reducing the effect of excavation on the surrounding environment. This paper presents an experimental study on the flexural performance of composite structures of concrete-filled steel tubes, which are proposed as a new type of pipe-roof structure. It is also called as steel tube slab (STS) structure. The most important feature of this structure is that the adjacent steel tubes are connected using flange plates, bolts, and concrete in the transverse direction, forming the supporting system after pouring concrete. The main design parameters considered in this investigation are the connection type, spacing between the tubes, welding of the top flange, and thickness of the bottom flange. By conducting six flexural experiments, the failure process and crack development in the composite beams and their load–displacement curves are investigated. The results of laboratory tests show that the composite beams exhibit ductile failure. Increasing connections between the steel tubes has an obvious effect on the load-carrying capacity and flexural stiffness. The spacing between tubes can improve the flexural stiffness of STS beams, while having a limited effect on the longitudinal load-carrying capacity of the STS structure. Welding of the top flange and thickness of the bottom flange shows limited effect on the flexural performance of STS composite beams. Moreover, a series of numerical models is established to further identify the optimum tube thickness-to-flange-thickness ratio in terms of the flexural bearing capacity and stiffness. The numerical solutions suggest that the optimum ratio of the flange thickness to the tube thickness is between 1.0 and 1.25. Finally, a theoretical model for the flexural stiffness of the cross-section of this structure is also proposed, and the predicted results are found to be in excellent agreement with the test results. The research results can provide references for design and construction of STS method.
