Abstract:In the U.S.higher education system,the management of academic programs generally assumes a style of negotiation between the inside and outside stakeholders of universities and between the government and universities. Although the approval and adjustment of academic programs are free from the restriction of a program catalog,they are subject to the government's supervision and society's participation.The shared governance among the universities, government and society ensures the flexibility,diversity and orderliness of the development of academic programs. This article introduces the management systems and operation mechanisms of program management at the state governments and universities,and analyzes their unique features and experience.

Abstract:As an important part of China's higher education system, student management in higher vocational colleges and universities is of great significance for cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents. Through an in-depth analysis of the current situation of student management in China's higher vocational colleges and universities, this paper reveals the problems that exist in the current management process, including the insufficiency of policies and regulations, the deficiencies in management organisational structure and staffing, the lack of adaptability of the student management methods, and the insufficiency of student participation. Aiming at these problems, this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, such as improving policies and regulations, optimising management organisational structure and staffing, innovating student management methods and improving student participation. Through the research of this paper, it aims to provide useful reference for student management in China's higher vocational colleges and universities and promote the development of higher vocational education.

Abstract:Nowadays, university graduates are major contributors of social development , therefore their psychological health draws attention of the whole society. Facing the mental health problems of college students , the reasons of effective countermeasures were researched, and some suggestions for solving the college mental health problems were provided. This paper argues that the current mental health problems are complex and diverse, mainly from the social environment, the negative energy oriented education, family education and school students self concept development imbalance caused by four aspects. Firstly, by analysing the types, causes and effects of college students' psychological problems, it is found that college students' psychological problems are mainly related to anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, etc., and the causes include academic pressure, employment pressure, personal character, etc., which have a negative impact on college students' study, life and future development. Abstract:As practitioners of teaching and research,faculty constitute a core competitiveness of higher education.However,faculty in China nowadays are overworked and suffered a high level of pressure and distress,as a result of the emphasis on new managerialism and academic capitalism,rapid transitions of social contexts and scientific technologies, as well as organizational changes after the expansion of Chinese higher education. Drawing on a survey of university faculty conducted in 2007,the paper examines the faculty stress by analyzing its components and affecting factors,and discusses shocking effects of overloaded stress on faculty's career development through defining levels of organizational environment and personal characteristics.The paper finds that faculty in different age groups are under varied pressure from teaching,researching and living;those under 40 years old suffer the highest level of stress,41- 55years the middle level,and over 56 years the low level.Expansion of college scale,changes of performance evaluation mechanism,as well as status of marriage, salary,work load,career orientation and promotion are sources affecting faculty stress.The results also indicate that overloaded stress may result in occupational burnout,with little contribution to academic productivity.
