Abstract:Risk communication(RC) researches in the USA began in the mid-1980s.This paper discusses the general social-cultural context when it was born and reviews its academic evolution.Having much connection with the researches of risk management,crisis communication and public relations,RC researches have experienced a transformation of its function fromone-way informtopublic participation.The core proposition of RC researches isrisk= hazard +outrage,and the key element is establishing and maintaining trust and credibility.
