On Communication Ethics in the Context of Risks

Abstract:Modern risks are characteristic of peril,uncertainty,unpredictability,non-empiricism,globalization and individuality.As a consequence of technology,institution and human behaviors,risk cannot automatically present itself because it has been invariably mediated.In modern society,mass media are extremely important in terms of medium value.The matter of risk,therefore,is always a matter of communication and dialogue.When the technical program like crisis communication turns incompetent,consideration of ethic communication naturally becomes a significant alternative.Through establishing some pre-set boundaries and offering certain examples,the ultimate goal is to set up a flexible and tolerant ethic communication mechanism,within which all the possible forces can be called upon to participate in this large-scale dialogue and jointly confront or transcend risks of extremity.
