Abstract:This paper introduces the experiments,design and engineering application of modern bamboo single family house.The features of foundation,wall,floor,and roof are discussed in detail.The design and construction of the bamboo house is based on the properties of laminated bamboo,including high strength-light-weight and stiffness-weight ratios,prefabrication,better durability etc.Crucial technics including fire proof,moisture prevention,and anti-seismic design etc were solved.The research and construction of bamboo single family houses validate that such a new type of environmental friendly construction form is suitable for applications in commercial buildings and residential houses.

Abstract:A typical traditional residence in Lishui,Zhejiang was chosen as objective in the paper.First the parameters such as temperature,humidity and wind speed were tested in summer and winter.Then the indoor thermal environment was evaluated with thermal comfort equation.At last the advantages and disadvantages on energy-saving building were analyzed and some appropriate improvements were proposed.

Abstract:Due to its special geographical conditions, Guangdong has absorbed the essence of the Central Plains Han culture and characteristics of foreign cultures, resulting in architecture in which traditional buildings exhibit unique regional cultural connotations. The architectural design is adapted to the needs of nature and ecology and the arts and humanities. This paper investigates the technical process of using local materials to obtain structural materials. Traditional Guangdong buildings use patios, cold alleys and doors as well as windows in a comprehensive manner to create an energy-saving and environmentally friendly ventilation design, which was analyzed here. In addition, we study the floor plans and artistic characteristics of traditional buildings in different regions of Guangdong. Traditional Guangdong buildings realize the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, as well as embody the concept of sustainable development. Traditional buildings integrate benefits and efficiency while condensing the surpassing wisdom and rich experience of craftsmen from ancient times to the present. Thus, it is worthwhile to research the connotation of traditional buildings to develop modern architectures.

Abstract:Architecture is a carrier of culture, as well as a product of one certain historical period. Influenced by the traditional culture over a long period of time, Huizhou folk houses have formed their own decorative design style with unique regional features. The article explores the design ideas on the decorative art of Huizhou ancient folk houses through formation and development of the decorative style, decorative characteristics, adornment subjects and decorative crafts. Based on it, the article excavates modern significance and value of the decorative art of Huizhou ancient folk houses, trying to get some references and enlightenments on modern architectural decorative design.

Abstract:Dingzhou Confucian Temple is a key cultural relic protection unit in Hebei Province, and its digital protection has important historical and cultural value. Based on its architectural characteristics and cultural connotation, the digital information of the architectural layout, the appearance and structure of the main buildings such as dachengdian is collected. The collected 2D and 3D data are integrated and processed by point cloud registration, point cloud denoising, point cloud sampling and other technologies, and the virtual roaming system is developed. With the developed and released virtual roaming system, visitors can vividly appreciate the Confucian Temple. The interpretation system for Dingzhou Confucian Temple can be applied for all-around demonstration and dissemination, to carry forward and propagate its cultural and architectural connotations. Digital protection of the Confucian Temple is a perfect combination of architectural cultural heritage and information technology.

Abstract:Based on the literature review of CNKI database on rural settlements in China over the last three decades, the paper supplied a general comment on the main research contents and current situation of domestic rural settlement in China from the view of architecture as well as other related fields. On the base of the review, the paper made a conclusion on the systematization of the complicated rural settlement under different research penetrations, accompanied by an explic itassessment of the major theories and methodologies deployed in the field. After that, it conven iently put forward that the future study should be focused on emphasizing the broadening of interdisciplinary vision to make the research orientation more diversified, enhancing the quantitative research scope by computer to make the research contents more scientific and accurate, and instructing related design exploration to combine the research achievement and design practice more effectively.

Abstract:Although it does not occupy a large territory,the southern part of Shanxi Province is characterized by its complicated mountainous terrain and inconvenient transportation.Dating back to ancient times,South Shanxi was boasted of as an area with advanced culture and regional economy.Enjoying a situation where timing, geographical location and the support of people are very favourable,a large quantity of China's ancient architecture buildings have successfully escaped from numerous disasters in history and have been preserved well until today.There remains over 300 ancient wooden architecture buildings dating back to Yuan Dynasty and the time prior to Yuan Dynasty.Generally speaking,these ancient wooden architecture buildings were not built in large scales,with the style of three bay-width rooms and one-storey single-eave roof halls.These ancient architecture buildings were built with width of five bay-width rooms and few of them were designed to have double eaves and attics.Being endowed with long-standing history,large quantity,complete layout,a great variety of styles and construction techniques as well as unique and rich historical relics of relevant art categories,these ancient architecture buildings have significant value in studying the history of China's ancient architecture and promoting excellent historical and cultural heritage.

Abstract:Through an examination of existing ancient timber construction, the ancient architectural text Yingzao fashi and indirectly related historical documents, the author reveals the various types of systems of wall support arches used in China in the period from the 7th to the 14th centuries, as well as their regional and temporal characteristics. The author then proceeds to examine the characteristics of architecture in speci?c parts of northern and southern China in this period, as well as the relationship between the speci?cally regional elements in Yingzao fashi and their dissemination. The author further suggests than the study and appreciation of the details of place and time in the forms of ancient Chinese architecture possibly provide the foundations for studying the ancient architectural history of all of north-eastern Asia.

Abstract:The Dengjiatuo Gate Tower(que),which was discovered in the year 2002,has been mentioned in an article published in Cultural Relics,No.1,2007.Here,the author carries out a further study by restoring the gate tower over again,and suggesting it was built in the late period of the Eastern Han Dynasty.The author also tries to recover the inscriptions on the right and left tower of the gate,according to the docu- ments of Song Dynasty.He considers this gate tower as the"Mian Zhu Ling Wang Jun Que(Gate Tower built for Mr.Wang,the county magistrate of Mianzhu)"recorded in ancient documents.
