Abstract:A difficult question arising in the study of effect algebras is how to equip them with a fitting and proper topology such that the topology is compatible with the partial operations ⊕ and Θ. As we know, the Frink ideal topology is an important intrinsic topology for studying partially ordered set theory; in particular, it is the correct topology for chains and direct products of a finite number of chains. In this paper, we show that the Frink ideal topology is also a nice topology for studying effect-algebra theory since it provides the operations with some of the expected continuity properties.

Abstract:The famous Antosik-Mikusinski convergent theorem on the Abel topological groups has very extensive applications in measure theory, summation theory and other analysis fields. In this paper, we establish the theorem on a class of effect algebras equipped with the ideal topology. This paper shows also that the ideal topology of effect algebras is a useful topology in studying the quantum logic theory.

Abstract:Let (E,⊥,⊕,0,1) be a lattice effect algebra and τi its interval topology. In this work we show that if the operation ⊕ is continuous with respect to τi, then τi is Hausdorff. In addition, we also show that if (E,⊥,⊕,0,1) is a complete MV-effect algebra and τi is a Hausdorff topology, then the operations ⊕, ⊖, ∨ and ∧ are τi continuous.

Abstract:Let λ and μ be sequence spaces and have both the signed-weak gliding hump property, (λ, μ) the algebra of the infinite matrix operators which transform λ into μ. In this paper, it is proved that if λ and μ are β-spaces and λ β and μ β have also the signed-weak gliding hump property, then for any polar topology τ, ((λ, μ), τ) is always sequentially complete locally convex topological algebra.

Abstract:We introduce and examine order convergence and the interval topology on partially ordered sets in general. Problem 76 of Birkhoff's "Lattice Theory" asks whether for complete Boolean algebras the order topology and the interval topology coincide. We answer this question in the negative.

Abstract:We investigate the $o\tau$-continuous/bounded/compact and Lebesgue operators from vector lattices to topological vector spaces; the KB operators between locally solid lattices and topological vector spaces; and the Levi operators from locally solid lattices to vector lattices. The main idea of operator versions of notions related to vector lattices lies in redistributing topological and order properties of a topological vector lattice between the domain and range of an operator under investigation. Domination properties for these classes of operators are studied.

Abstract:Groups with a topology that is in consistent one way or another with the algebraic structure are considered. Well-known classes of groups with a topology are topological, paratopological, semitopological, and quasitopological groups. We also study other ways of matching topology and algebraic structure. The minimum requirement in this paper is that the group is a right semitopological group (such groups are often called right topological groups). Abstract:We propose a mathematical model for two-dimensional continua in order to establish a solid theoretical foundation for the study of their complex topology, large geometric deformations, and topological changes such as merging in the context of multiphase flows. Our modeling space, named the Yin space, consists of regular open semianalytic sets with bounded boundaries, and is further equipped with constructive and algebraic definitions of Boolean operations. Major distinguishing features of our model include (a) topological information of fluids such as Betti numbers can be easily extracted in constant time, (b) topological changes of fluids are captured by nonmanifold points on fluid boundaries, and (c) Boolean operations on fluids correctly handle all degenerate cases and apply to arbitrarily complex topologies, yet they are simple and efficient in that they only involve determining the relative position of a point to a Jordan curve and intersecting a number of curve segments. Finally, utilities of (a) and (c) are demonstrated by combining the Yin space with the recent cubic MARS method to track a complex fluid in a single vortex flow.

Abstract:We give several characterizations of order continuous vector lattice homomorphisms between Archimedean vector lattices. We reduce the proofs of some of the equivalences to the case of composition operators between vector lattices of continuous functions, and so we obtain a characterization of order continuity of such operators. Motivated by this, we investigate various properties of the sublattices of the space $C\left(X\right)$, where $X$ is a Tychonoff topological space. We also obtain several characterizations of a regular sublattice of a vector lattice, and show that the closure of a regular sublattice of a Banach lattice is also regular.

Abstract:In this paper we study important quantities defined from solutions of first order linear systems of ordinary differential equations. It will be proved that many quantities, such as solutions, eigenvalues of one-dimensional Dirac operators, Lyapunov exponents and rotation numbers, depend on the coefficients in a very strong way. That is, they are not only continuous in coefficients with respect to the usual L p topologies, but also with respect to the weak topologies of the L p spaces. The continuity results of this paper are a basis to study these quantities in a quantitative way.

Abstract:Topology captures the essence of what remains unchanged under a transformation. In this study, a topological invariant called super conformality was found to preserve a critical angle between the constitutive plane and its second order differential plane for a two-terminal electric element as building blocks of modern electronics. This super conformality leads to local activity of a higher-order electric element so that the periodic table of the electric elements can be dramatically reduced to have only 6 passive ones, in contrast to the unbounded table predicted 40 years ago. Our claim that all the higher-order electric elements must be active was experimentally verified by the fact that a 2nd-order sodium memristor in the famous Hodgkin-Huxley circuit is locally active with an internal battery.
