Abstract:A high power density LLC resonant converter design with extra wide input range is presented. The design consideration for the resonant parameters is discussed. Effect of magnetic component design on the converter efficiency is studied by loss anlysis and experiment. The prototype with switching frequency higher than 500 kHz is built to verify the design.

Abstract:A novel dual-LLC resonant tanks zero voltage soft-switching converter for super high-frequency solid-state induction heating power supplies is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter is capable of absorbing the inductive and capacitive parasitical components in the circuit. Switch devices operate in zero-voltage soft switching mode. The problems of high voltage and current spikes caused by oscillation of parasitic inductors or capacitors, and huge switching loss in super high-frequency operation, which are troublesome in super high-frequency circuits, can be solved. Moreover, a large inductor is inset in the input, this novel converter shares the benefits of both voltage-type and current-type inverters simultaneously, and the dead-time between two switches does not need, therefore, this converter is suit to operate in super high frequency conditions. The working principle of the converter is introduced, simulation and experimental results operating around 1 MHz frequency are given.

Abstract:Basing on the technology of soft-switch,a novel two-switch LLC resonant inverter topology was proposed,which has solved the switching loss in traditional induction heating.To improve reliability of the power,current-feedback control mode and protection circuits were proposed.The method was simple and eased to realize.Experiment results effectively indicate the theoretic analysis that ZVS can be achieved in this circuit,and increase the work frequency of the power.

Abstract:A new hybrid full-bridge inverter which is suitable for ultra-high frequency induction heating power supplies was presented. The proposed topology has characteristics, which act as class-E inverter that the stray inductance of the input bus and the inverter output can be absorbed. Besides, the output capacitance of the switch can be absorbed by the resonance capacitance. This topology also makes it possible that no dead time is reserved for the complementary drives, and, if works properly, it can achieve Zero-Current-Switching (ZCS) and Zero-Voltage Switching (ZVS) turn-on and approximate ZVS turn-off. So it is suitable in the high frequency area. In this paper the characteristics and working principles were explained in detail and their validities was verified through several simulated and experimental results.

Abstract:This study presents a novel alternating current (AC) direct light emitting diode (LED) driving integrated circuit (IC) and system applied to street lighting. In the proposed driving IC, the level shifter circuit is specially designed to enable it to be directly powered by the 380 V 50 Hz three-phase AC, so that the characteristics of the three-phase AC can be utilized to reduce the harmful optical flicker and increase the output power of the driving system. And a new power factor correction circuit is proposed to improve the power factor of the driving IC. In addition, the power compensation circuit with negative feedback is designed to stabilize the average output power when the voltage of the power grid fluctuates. The driving IC and system are fabricated with a 1 mu m 700 V Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS process. The driving system does not need electrolytic capacitors, achieves 72 W output power and an up to 0.993 PF with only 12.7% percent flicker at the 380 V 50 Hz three-phase AC input, while the frequency of the output power is improved to 300 Hz, and the average output power varies only from -2.3% to 0.7% with the help of the power compensation circuit. Abstract:Mercury free flat fluorescent lamp(FFL) has a cheerful prospect in many areas,such as backlight for LCD and lighting since it is environmental,long life and has a short response time.Traditionally,the driving power supply of FFL including two or more stage,in this paper,a switching power supply driving circuit with single stage,which can drive the FFL efficiently,was proposed and analyzed.Finally a circuit prototype was build and efficiency was compared with the traditional one;it shows the designed circuit can improve the luminous efficiency of FFL with higher converter efficiency and lower costs.

Abstract:In the field of high-power lighting, High Intensity Discharge (HID), with the representative of HPSL (high pressure sodium lamp) and metal halide, remains a main choice. Inverter circuit plays an important role in the design of high-power electronic ballast. A novel topology of LCLC resonant inverter circuit was proposed in order to solve the issue of efficiency lifting. By setting the switching frequency and parameters, the goal of ZCS could be achieved approximately, while under the condition of ZVS. The experimental results and ways of passive parameters design were presented finally.

Abstract:A novel simple control method to improve the ignition behavior of cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) in digital-dimming mode is proposed in this paper. To extend the lamp life, we designed a digital-dimming controller (DDC) in cold cathode fluorescent lamp based on variable frequency technique. The design was simulated by Cadence Spectre. It is effective to eliminate the ignition current spike and reduce the high ignition voltage.

Abstract:It is well known that a mature light emitting diode(LED) driver is important for a LED lighting system to achieve its high performance.A novel high-power LED driver using the utility power supply is proposed and studied, which integrates a bridgeless AC/DC boost-type power factor correction(PFC) with LLC half-bridge resonant circuit and outputs a pulse-current for LEDs.This new single-stage AC/DC high-power LED driver has advantages of less components,low cost,no electrolytic capacitor,simple control circuit and high input power factor.Theory analysis and experiment are carried out and all results prove the feasibility and availability of this LED driver.

Abstract:An electronic ballast with very high frequency can avoid the intrinsic acoustic resonance problem of HID lamps. The ballast consists of a PFC converter circuit and an inverter circuit The inverter circuit includes a half bridge inverter and a T type filter running on very high frequency. Based on the T type filter, wide dimming ability can be achieved within a narrow frequency variation range. At the same time the lamp current is kept a perfect sine wave, which means low lamp current crest factor is achieved. Frequency modulation with power control is implemented to dim the lamp. Its validity is proved by both theoretical analysis and experimental results.

Abstract:Electrodeless lamp is a new type of green light source,and now it has been in promotion for its own advantages.This paper reviews the principle of electrodeless lamp,and analyses the shortcuts of the drive device from using discrete components in traditional high frequency electrodeless lamp.The paper also proposes a new drive device for high frequency electrodeless lamp based on IC and gives the diagrams of the designed module.The test results indicate that this drive device can be applied in the high frequency electrodeless lamp for stable and efficient driving.

Abstract:This paper presents the analysis, control strategy and realization of a digital frequency controller of a two stage ballast for HID Lamps. First, the small signal phasor model of the LCSCP resonant inverter is established and verified. Based on this model, a double loop digital compensator is designed to control the current and power of the lamp. Then the overall control strategy for the long term stability of the ballast is designed and realized on a PIC MCU controller. Finally, a electronic ballast for a 400 W MH lamp is designed based on this scheme, and the experimental results are provided.

Abstract:This study explores the application of the half-bridge Inductor-Inductor-Capacitor (LLC) resonant converter in Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting driver power supplies, with a specific focus on improving efficiency and dimming capabilities. The investigation begins with an analysis of the sliding mode control (SMC) method, utilizing a constant-current design with a fixed switching frequency (FWF). A novel fuzzy frequency-selective SMC dimming strategy is proposed to recognize the challenge of significant output voltage ripple during dimming under a FSF. To address the ripple issue during dimming, an electromagnetic filtering circuit is designed, and a zero-voltage turn-on Metal—Oxide—Semiconductor (MOS) tube is introduced, incorporating a synchronous rectification scheme to mitigate losses in the secondary-side rectification diode. The study comprehensively considers a current-mode self-driven method, specifically tailored to the LLC circuit’s different operating modes. The LLC resonant circuit, along with the subsequent synchronous rectification circuit, is meticulously designed for a 252 W LED driver power supply prototype. A closed-loop simulation circuit model is developed using PSIM software in experimental validation. The feasibility of SMC based on a FSF is affirmed through a comparative analysis of SMC signal waveforms, steady-state output current (OC) models, and resonant tank current waveforms. The investigation into the OC under various SMC conditions demonstrates the half-bridge LLC resonant converter’s ability to achieve stable output with minimal ripple. The designed LED lighting circuit is applied to indoor design, providing adjustable LED brightness and switch status at different power levels. Although obstacles slightly impact the communication quality of the circuit, it remains suitable for the majority of users’ needs.

Abstract:A new type of electronic ballast circuit was proposed to solve the problem of acoustic resonance which may occur in the electronic ballast for high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps. Output signals of the pulse width modulation (PWM) control circuit becomed high frequency ones with variable pulse width and variable frequency by modulating the clock signal of the on-chip oscillator with a low-frequency signal. Driven by these high-frequency signals, acoustic resonance of a HID lamp was suppressed, and the HID lamp ran steadily. The structure of the proposed circuit was simple, dimensions were reduced and operating reliability was improved. The presented idea here made it easy to develop specific integrated circuits for HID lamps operating steadily, imposing a positive effect on the development and application of HID lamps.

Abstract:The power electronic driver for compact fluorescent lamp is presented in this paper,which can realize warm start and constant input power control.Its efficiency is above 90% under normal conditions.The prototype has been implemented to verify the experimental measurements with the theoretical predictions.This device has the advantages of simple diagram,less components,low cost,and can expand the CFL's lifetime.

Abstract:This paper presents a MHz electronic ballast, which avoids the intrinsic problem of acoustic resonance of HID lamps. A novel three order LPF is adopted, which decreases lamp current crest factor and increases the lamp life. The circuit runs with the soft switch mode, which achieves better performance of EMC and higher efficiency on MHz frequency operation. Its validity is proved by both theoretical analysis and experimental results.

Abstract:Different dimming method were analyzed and compared,based on the results a 12 inch mercury free Flat Fluorescent Lamp(FFL) switching power supply with digital dimming circuit were designed.The results show that a wider dimming range about 100% to 10% and a low cost driving circuit with simple structure can be achieved by adopting the digital dimming method.
