Abstract:By differentiating the dressed quark propagator with respect to a constant external field, the linear response of the nonperturbative dressed quark propagator in the presence of the constant external field can be obtained. From this general method, taking the vector vacuum susceptibility as an illustration, we one extract a model-independent expression for the vacuum susceptibility in the quantum chromodynamical (QCD) sum rule two-point external field formula. This expression for the vacuum susceptibility is quite different from that given in the previous literature. The numerical values of the vector vacuum susceptibility are calculated within the framework of the rainbow-ladder approximation of the Dyson-Schwinger approach. A comparison with the results of the previous approaches is given.

Abstract:We generalize our previous work [Phys. Rev. C 72, 035202 (2005)] on the linear response theory of the dressed quark propagator in the presence of a constant external field to the case of a variable external field in order to make it applicable to a wider class of problems. Using the axial vector vacuum susceptibility as an illustration, we apply this general formalism to extract a new expression for the axial vector vacuum susceptibility in the quantum chromodynamical (QCD) sum rule two-point external field formula. The numerical values of the axial vector vacuum susceptibility are calculated within the framework of the rainbow-ladder approximation of the Dyson-Schwinger approach. A comparison with the results of the previous approaches is given.

Abstract:We develop a kind of quantum formalism (Hilbert space probabilistic calculus) for measurements performed over cognitive (in particular, conscious) systems. By using this formalism we could predict averages of cognitive observables. Reflecting the basic idea of neurophisiological and psychological studies on a hierarchic structure of cognitive processes, we use p-adic hierarchic trees as a mathematical model of a mental space. We also briefly discuss the general problem of the choice of adequate mental geometry.

Abstract:Based on QCD sum rule three-point and two-point external field formulas respectively, the vector vacuum susceptibilities are calculated at the mean-field level in the framework of the global color symmetry model. It is shown that the above two approaches of determination of the vector vacuum susceptibility may lead to different results. The reason of this contradiction is discussed.

Abstract:Using a recently developed three-point formalism within the method of QCD Sum Rules we determine the vacuum susceptibilities needed in the two-point formalism for the coupling of axial, vector, tensor and pseudoscalar currents to hadrons. All susceptibilities are determined by the space-time scale of condensates, which is estimated from data for deep inelastic scattering on nucleons.

Abstract:The QCD vacuum condensates and various vacuum susceptibilities are all important parameters which characterize the nonperturbative properties of the QCD vacuum. In the QCD sum rules external field formula, various QCD vacuum susceptibilities play important roles in determining the properties of hadrons. Abstract:In quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the scalar susceptibility represents the modification of the quark condensate, to a small perturbation of the parameter responsible for the explicit breaking of the symmetry, i.e., the current quark mass. By studying the linear response of the dressed quark propagator to the presence of a nonzero quark mass, we derive a model-independent formula for the scalar susceptibility, which contains the dressed quark propagator G(p) and the dressed scalar vertex Γ(p, 0). The numerical values of the scalar susceptibility χs are calculated within the framework of the rainbow-ladder approximation of the Dyson-Schwinger approach by employing two typical forms of model gluon propagator.

Abstract:We re-investigate the vector and axial-vector vacuum susceptibilities by taking advantage of the vector and axial-vector Ward–Takahashi identities. We show analytically that, in the chiral limit, the vector vacuum susceptibility is zero and the axial-vector vacuum susceptibility equals three fourths of the square of the pion decay constant. Besides, our analysis reproduces the Weinberg sum rule.

Abstract:We derive a novel model-independent result for the pion susceptibility in QCD via the isovector-pseudoscalar vacuum polarization. In the neighbourhood of the chiral limit, the pion susceptibility can be expressed as a sum of two independent terms. The first expresses the pion-pole contribution. The second is identical to the vacuum chiral susceptibility, which describes the response of QCD's ground state to a fluctuation in the current-quark mass. In this result one finds a straightforward explanation of a mismatch between extant estimates of the pion susceptibility.

Abstract:Based on the quark propagator in the instanton dilute liquid approximation, we have determined the nonlocal four-quark condensate at the mean-field level in the framework of global color symmetry model. By making use of this formula, the vacuum susceptibility (pionsusceptibility) was calculated in this paper. The theoretical analysis and numerical calculation show that even at the mean-field level the naive vacuum saturation approximation is not a good approximation when we consider nonlocal four-quark condensate.

Abstract:A modified method for calculating the nonperturbative quark vacuum condensates from the global color symmetry model is derived. Within this approach it is shown that the vacuum condensates are free of ultraviolet divergence which is different from previous studies. As special cases, the two-quark condensate <(q) over barq> and the mixed quark-gluon condensate g<(q) over barG(munu)sigma(munu)q> are calculated. Abstract: It is shown in a systematic way that the instanton dilute model can be combined with the global colour symmetry model to form a new nonperturbative QCD model. Based on the quark propagator derived in the instanton dilute liquid approximation, the quark condensate $<\bar{q}q>$, the mixed quark gluon condensate $g_{s}<\bar{q}G_{\mu\nu}\sigma^{\mu\nu}q>$, the four quark condensate $<|bar{q}\Gamma q\bar{q}\Gamma q>$ and tensor, pion vacuum susceptibilities have been calculated at the mean field level in the framework of the new nonperturbative QCD model. The numerical results are compatible with the values obtained within other nonperturbative approaches. The calculated masses and decay constants of $\pi$ and $\sigma$ mesons are also close to the experimental values.

Abstract:In the approximation of neglecting the flavor mixing between u and d quarks in the vector channel, we derive a formula for the quark-number susceptibility based on the external field method. This formula proves to yield exactly the Fermi statistics result of the quark-number susceptibility in the noninteracting situation. Then calculation in an effective interaction model via Dyson-Schwinger equations is performed and it is found that at low temperatures it is zero and it rises sharply to nonzero values across the phase transition point, which is consistent with previous lattice QCD results. The interpretation of this behavior of the quark-number susceptibility as a signal of chiral symmetry restoration and deconfinement is discussed.
