Abstract:The crystal structure of the title compound, 2C(5)H(6)NO(2)(+)center dot-C4H2O42-, consists of 3-hydroxypyridinium cations and fumarate dianions. The dianion is located on an inversion center and the cation is linked to it by O-H center dot center dot center dot O and N-H center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. The cation is twisted with respect to the anion by 24.83 (5)degrees.

Abstract:The title compound, [Co(C12H8N2)(3)](C4H2O4)(0.5)(C4H3O4).-1.5C(4)H(4)O(4).4H(2)O, consists of the cobalt(II) complex cation with phenanthroline (phen), half a fumarate dianion, a fumarate monoanion, one and a half fumaric acid molecule and uncoordinated water molecules. The separations of 3.342 (8) and 3.493 (15) Angstrom between the phen rings related by inversion centers indicate the existence of pi-pi-stacking interactions between the neighboring complex ions. These complex molecules assemble as hydrophobic layers via pi-pi stacking. Fumarate, fumaric acid and water are linked to each other to form hydrophilic layers by hydrogen bonding in the crystal structure.

Abstract:In the structure of the title salt, C6H9N2+ center dot C7H6NO2-, the 4-aminobenzoate anions are linked to adjacent anions and 2-amino-4-methylpyridinium cations via N - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supramolecular structure. The crystal structure also shows a weak C - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond between adjacent anions. Within the 4-aminobenzoate anion, the carboxylate group is twisted by 14.0 (4)degrees with respect to the benzene ring.

Abstract:In the title compound, C(12)H(16)O(2), the plane of the carboxylic acid group is almost perpendicular to the benzene ring [dihedral angle 80.9 (3)°] and the tert-butyl unit is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.503 (6):0.497 (6) ratio. In the crystal structure, centrosymmetric dimers arise from pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the carboxylic acid groups.

Abstract:The title complex [Cu-2(C4H2O4)(2) (bipy)(2) (H2O)(3)].3H(2)O (bipy=2,2'-bipyridine) was prepared and its crystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods. Both Cu(II) atoms of the binuclear complex assume square pyramidal coordination. The fumarate groups display different coordination modes. One fumarate group bridges two Cu(II) ions to for-in a binuclear complex while another fumarate group terminally coordinates to a Cu(II) atom with one carboxyl group free from coordination. The terminally coordinated fumarate showed unusual disorder, which may be due to an intermolecular H-bonding interaction. Close stacking of bipy rings is observed as verified by the distance of 3.46 Angstrom between parallel ring planes. IR spectra were assigned based on the molecular structure.

Abstract:The title compound, C6H8N4S22+.C4H2O42-, consists of a diaminobithiazole (DABT) cation and a fumarate anion. The cation and anion are both located on inversion centers. Both ions display a planar configuration and link to each other through hydrogen bonding between carboxyl and amino groups, as well as through weak C-H...O hydrogen bonding between thiazole and carboxyl groups. The C-N(amino) bond distance of 1.323 (4) Angstrom suggests the existence of electron delocalization between the thiazole ring and the amino group.

Abstract:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(C4H4O4)(C7H6N2)2(H2O)2]n, consists of a polymeric NiII complex bridged by succinate dianions. The Ni atom is located at a crystallographic inversion center. Both carboxyl groups of the succinate coordinate, in monodentate fashion, to the neighboring NiII atoms to form one-dimensional chains, and the chains link to each other via hydrogen bonds between the benzimidazole and carboxyl group to form a two-dimensional supramolecular structure. The overlapped arrangement of parallel benzimidazole ligands, with a separation of 3.350 (3) Å, suggests the existence of π–π-stacking interactions between adjacent chains.

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals

Abstract:A new cocrystal (ACP − SA) of 4 − acetylpyridine (ACP) with succinic acid (SA) has been synthesized by slow evaporation method and characterized. The single crystal X-ray diffraction technique confirmed the coexistence of ACP and SA molecules in a 1:0.5 ratio in an asymmetric unit. The ACP − SA crystallizes in a monoclinic space group P 2 1 / n , with a = 9.0185(14) Å, b = 8.8955(14) Å, c = 10.9044(18) Å, β = 93.017(3)°, V = 873.6(2) Å 3 , Z = 4. Classical O − H⋯N and non classical C − H⋯O hydrogen bonds aid in stabilizing the supramolecular architecture of ACP − SA by creating D (2) and R44(22) motifs. In addition, density functional theory (DFT) computations were performed to get insights into the structure and intermolecular interactions of ACP − SA cocrystal. The TGA/DSC thermogram revealed that the cocrystal began to degrade at temperatures over 78 °C and retained its crystallinity up to 106 °C. The nature of the interactions and their contribution to the crystal packing is quantitatively measured using Quantum topological atoms in molecule (QTAIM), 3D Hirshfeld surfaces analysis and 2D fingerprint plots. The maximum percentage contribution of H⋯H (40%), O⋯H (32%) and C⋯H (11.6%) interactions were identified from Hirshfeld surfaces analysis. With the aid of both experimental and computational methods, the crystal packing and hydrogen bonding were examined.

Abstract:In the title compound, 3C(10)H(8)N(2)center dot 4C(7)H(5)NO(4), the asymmetric unit contains two molecules of pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid and one molecule of 4,4 '-bipyridine in general positions together with one molecule of 4,4 '-bipyridine lying across a centre of inversion, thus giving a 4: 3 molar ratio of pyridine3,5- dicarboxylic acid to 4,4 '-bipyridine. The dihedral angle between the bipyridine rings on general positions is 21.2 (2)degrees. These molecular units are linked by O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds forming an extended two-dimensional framework in the crystal.

Abstract:The asymmetric unit of the title compound [systematic name: 2-(3-cyano-4-isobutyloxyphenyl)-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylic acid–acetic acid (1/1)], C16H16N2O3S·CH3COOH, contains a febuxostat molecule and an acetic acid molecule. In the febuxostat molecule, the thiazole ring is nearly coplanar with the benzene ring [dihedral angle = 3.24 (2)°]. In the crystal, the febuxostat and acetic acid molecules are linked by O—H...O, O—H...N hydrogen bonds and weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming supramolecular chains propagating along the b-axis direction. π–π stacking is observed between nearly parallel thiazole and benzene rings of adjacent molecules; the centroid-to-centroid distances are 3.8064 (17) and 3.9296 (17) Å.
