Abstract:It is urgent for modern society to save energy and protect environment. But the efficiency of traditional lighting equipment which occupies a rather high proportion of total electric load is very low. Now, they are more and more instead by power electronics based devices, such as energy-saving lamps or LED lamps. For the different characteristics from that of traditional devices, the new kind of lighting equipment may have uncertain influence to power grid. Firstly, their topologies and control schemes are studied and analyzed. Then, the general models, which are suitable for simulation analysis, are proposed. After that, the simulation study and physical experiment are carried on respectively. It is revealed and manifested that the characteristics of both energy-saving lamp and LED lamp are quite different from that of traditional lamps, and may have adverse impact on the safety and stability of power grid.

Abstract:Rising demand with diminishing reserves of oil and gas spread the energy crisis all over the world. Renewable energy and efficiency technology are the keys to resolve the energy crisis. As the improvement in luminous efficacy, LEDs have been an energy-saving choice for general illumination and road lighting. This paper made a comparison between LEDs system and HPS system for road lighting to evaluate which one is more energy efficient and discussed some factors may influence the efficiency of LEDs system and HPS system, such as mesopic vision, dimming, color of illumination. Though the difference in total luminaire efficacy was not that much in favor of the LEDs, LEDs show a promising prospect in the near future because of the dramatic improvement in luminous efficacy.

Abstract:Aiming at the severe problem of energy shortage nowadays,a illumination system with the combination of solar energy and LED source in order to reduce consumption of indoor lighting is put forward.In condition of large amount of ambient light,the solar cells can supply power for both battery charging and system operation;in condition of little ambient light,the system can be charged by the battery directly.Besides,this system has USB interface through which we can charge the battery in case of long-term low light intensity.This system can realize automatic illumination adjustment and keep the stable illumination in working platform,thus,provide the best luminous environment for long-term white collar workers.Electric power will be largely saved with the automatic illumination adjustment and solar energy charging.

Abstract:Demand planning-oriented research on nighttime urban lighting provides a foundation for formulating strategies to eliminate dark areas and reduce light pollution. In this paper, Binjiang District of Hangzhou was investigated. Four factors, namely land-use type, road grade, parcel volume, and nighttime crowds, were evaluated. Based on the spatiotemporal geographic data and the urban lighting planning of Hangzhou, a calculation method for the supply and demand of urban lighting at night in Hangzhou was constructed. In this process, the current state of lighting brightness in different areas of the district were calculated and compared with the results of the total lighting demand to analyze reasonableness. The research results show that according to the actual lighting demand classification, the first to fifth levels of lighting control zones accounted for 1.84%, 19.69%, 49.61%, 21.74%, and 7.12% of the total statistical land area of the district, respectively. Focus should thus be placed on the second, third, and fourth levels of lighting control zones when covering lighting demand. Importantly, areas with unreasonable supply and demand for lighting construction accounted for 20.8% of the total statistical land area, indicating that the nighttime lighting demand and carbon emissions in the Riverside District should be adjusted and optimized. This paper proposes a research method to compare supply and demand for the planning and construction of nighttime urban lighting, which can improve the science on lighting demand measurement.

Abstract:Lighting design with low carbon emissions indicates that emphasis in this field has deepened from energy efficiency into resource saving,energy consumption reducing,and greenhouse gas emissions decreasing.Based on this particular point,this paper stresses out several technical methods,among which utilization of natural light in buildings is top priority.Sunshading equipments and light pipes to guide natural light into buildings should be widely developed to reduce reliance of building operation on traditional energy.Research and development into high efficient lighting equipments and multi-purpose lighting control systems is also fully required.Moreover,this paper emphasizes the importance of specific standards of lighting design with low carbon emissions,relevant energy product regulations and economic policies,and also encourages awareness campaigns inside enterprises to accelerate the low carbon lighting progress.

Abstract:This paper compared the new standard of Electrical Lighting of the Industry standard Code for the electrical design of education buildings, i.e.the National Standard GB50034, with the old one, and analyzed the characteristics of the related codes .Based on ensuring vision health for teachers and students , the code set the illuminance standard and the quality of lighting for education building , put forward the technical requirements of the light source and lamp , lighting control and emergency lighting and other aspects.

Abstract:The luminous efficien is the key parameter of electric light sources energy-saving performance. From the point of view of experiment, This article first calculates the spectrum power distribution of incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, high-pressure sodium lamp and the metal-halide lamp, then calculates the ratio of visible spectrum power to the whole spectrum power in order to prove theoretically that incandescent lamps have the low light efficiency, while the high-pressure sodium lamps and the metal-halide lamps have the higher light efficiency.

Abstract:Based on the energy-saving and safe-driving requirements of road lighting, a kind of energy-saving system is proposed for street lamps in this paper, which is handled by two controllers. At daybreak and dusk, the lamps are turned on or off according to local sunrise and sunset. And at night, it is controlled by a fuzzy controller. Traffic flow and its variation rate, the highest road speed limit are taken as the inputs of the controller, at the same time, the lighting comfort and the experience of driver are defined as the fuzzy sets and control rules. LED lamps are used in the system as illuminant. The numerical simulation in MATLAB and analysis on the practical measured data show that the system is effective in energy-saving for road lighting.

Abstract:With the background park lighting application, and based on the characteristics of advanced devices in the system, this paper studies the photovoltaic (PV) light emitted diode (LED) lighting system in three main aspects, which are the design of the whole system, hybrid control strategy combining the maximum power point tracing (MPPT, for PV panels) with the energy management(for battery), and LED driving and dimming. Taking the example of an actual 50W high luminous efficacy LED system, the design, implantation and experiments are described in detail. In addition, the long-term measurement results in real environment are illustrated in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a study of PLC-based solution for energy saving tunnel lighting system. The article depicted the vision problems and design standard in tunnel lighting first. Then the objection of the current tunnel lighting system is pointed out, and a novel lighting control algorithm is brought forward: the luminance and length of each lighting zone can vary smoothly with the change of the velocity, flux of vehicles in the tunnel and the luminance at the entrance of tunnel. The structure of the system and its realization are also described. At last, the simulation on a tunnel model was done, which shows the system can optimize tunnel lighting with about 30% energy saving. (7 pages)
