Abstract:Lightning protection of urban power grids is critical to the safe and stable use of electricity in cities. In the paper, the electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) was used to simulate the lightning protection of a 220kV substation reconstruction project with long cable inlet wire. Using the intersection method, the maximum value of the lightning invasion overvoltage on the substation equipment was calculated when the overhead incoming line connected to the cable was struck by lightning. The internal and external insulation levels of the substation equipment were checked. The simulation results show that the overvoltage exceeds the insulation level of the substation equipment without the arrester installed next to transformer, so it is necessary to install the arrester on the transformer side. The research results can be used as reference for engineering design.
Experimental Study of Protection Measures for Preventing 10 KV Insulated Conductors from Breakage Caused by Lightning Stroke

Abstract:Many protection products of avoiding breakage caused by lightning stroke have been used and have good effect in Beijing. But there are still some breakages existing for the insulated conductors after installing the protection products according to the company technology standard. For these reasons, an experimental research is carried out in order to consummate the former research results of breakage caused by lightning stroke, and provides instructions for the power supply department. The contents of the study are the breakage caused by lightning stroke tests of overhead insulated conductors, the breakage caused by lightning stroke tests of overhead bare conductors, the proof-test of the clamping post insulators and the capability tests of the gaps with the power arc. In the short-time high power arc tests, the two protection products can protect the insulated conductors from being burn down. The problems for those products are analyzed and suggestions are given. Through comparing the burning conditions of the insulated conductors and the bare conductors in case of long-time low power arc tests, it is found that possibilities of the conductors breakage exist when single-phase to earth fault occurs.

Abstract:It is urgent for modern society to save energy and protect environment. But the efficiency of traditional lighting equipment which occupies a rather high proportion of total electric load is very low. Now, they are more and more instead by power electronics based devices, such as energy-saving lamps or LED lamps. For the different characteristics from that of traditional devices, the new kind of lighting equipment may have uncertain influence to power grid. Firstly, their topologies and control schemes are studied and analyzed. Then, the general models, which are suitable for simulation analysis, are proposed. After that, the simulation study and physical experiment are carried on respectively. It is revealed and manifested that the characteristics of both energy-saving lamp and LED lamp are quite different from that of traditional lamps, and may have adverse impact on the safety and stability of power grid.

These aspects include the lightning protection classification of buildings, air terminals, down conductors, grounding devices, division of lightning protection zones, and lightning electromagnetic pulse shielding. Through the introduction of this article, readers can gain a comprehensive understanding of the application and value of lightning protection grounding construction technology in building electrical installation projects.

Abstract:This paper compared the new standard of Electrical Lighting of the Industry standard Code for the electrical design of education buildings, i.e.the National Standard GB50034, with the old one, and analyzed the characteristics of the related codes .Based on ensuring vision health for teachers and students , the code set the illuminance standard and the quality of lighting for education building , put forward the technical requirements of the light source and lamp , lighting control and emergency lighting and other aspects.

Research on lightning intruding waves in 220 kV GIS substation

Abstract:The lightning intruding waves in 220 kV GIS substation model was built by using ATP-EMTP software, calculate the lightning over-voltages on electric equipment in substation with different running modes, different grounding resistance and lightning shielding failure. The results show that the maximum over-voltage on electric equipment happened in single bus with single transformer; The smaller the grounding resistance, the smaller the over-voltage value on electric equipment in substation; the lightning shielding failure will not cause harm to substation. Finally, this paper used statistical methods to calculate the years of the safe operation of the substation. It is concluded that the safe running times of substation can meet the requirement when arresters were installed at the incoming lines and the entrance of transformer.

Abstract:With the continuous improvement of our country's education level, the electrical design of teaching buildings has been paid more and more attention. If the safety measures of building facilities are not perfect, once there is a safety problem, it will inevitably bring irreparable huge losses to the personal safety of students and teachers and the property safety of the school. Abstract:Safety for person and equipment is the main purpose of power plant and substation grounding system design.The safety criteria defined in the domestic grounding design standard "GB 50065-2011: Code for design of ac electrical installations earthing" and the international grounding design standard "IEEE Std 80-2000: IEEE Guide for Safety in AC Substation Grounding" are different.According to the analysis of them,application scope for personal safety criterion is presented.At the same time,limitation of equipment safety criterion in these two standards is pointed out.And based on the equipments’ insulation level,arrangement and actual running situation in the power plant and substation,it is recommended for the first time to use the maximum relative potential rise inside the power plant or substation grounding system as the equipment safety criterion.For large area or high soil resistivity power plant and substation,it can greatly improve the economical efficiency.

Abstract:With the accelerating of urbanization, China’s urban landscape lighting is developing rapidly. But as it is still in the growth stage, there appears blind lighting, disorderly construction and many other problems.Therefore, learning from foreign experiences is beneficial for the health and orderly development of China’s landscape lighting’s future.Based on the summary of foreign landscape lighting construction mode and operation mechanism, and the objective and reasonable understanding on landscape lighting’s contributions, combined with actual conditions of China’s landscape lighting development, the paper carries an analysis from the aspects of construction and management system, mechanism and funds.Following city operation and management principles, we study and formulate a long-term operating mechanism of urban landscape lighting suitable for China, in order to ensure sustainable development of China’s urban landscape lighting’s construction and management.

Abstract:In recent years, human electric shock accident caused by line fault of distribution system has happened all over the world. This kind of problem of high resistance grounding fault safety is becoming more and more the attention of the researchers. In this paper, typical arc high resistance grounding fault model is established to simulate the human electric shock accident and the line fell to the ground condition. The transient- state and steady-state fault characteristics of high resistance grounding fault are analyzed in the neutral point grounded through a small resistance grounding system and the resonant grounding system. The above analysis has laid a good foundation for the establishment of an effective fault detection method for high resistance grounding and the realization of human electric shock protection.

Abstract:Grounding safety is related with security of the equipments and the bodies.According to national normative criterion,the security of the grounding is discussed,gives a new method of grounding-resistance measurement and the convenient practical calculation methods and high-resistance soil、shallow terrane area resistance-reduction,gives a detailed introduction about monitoring of grounding-resistance transformation,especially about monitoring and warning about security grounding resistance and grounding open-circuit voltage of current mutual inductor.

Abstract:This paper studies the overvoltages on the low voltage power supply system caused by lightning surge. We use a 1/5 scale iron model to simulate a building's structure, a surge generator which can generate 1.2/50-8/20 mus waveform used as lightning surge, an SPD which constrain lightning surge under 1 kV, and some polyvinyl chloride cable. In this experiment, different load elements such as resistors, capacitors and inductors are applied, different lengths of cable, such as 1 m, 4 m, different ways of laying the cable and positions where surge is applied are studied. The results show the rule that capacitive load gender the highest overvoltage in all kinds of loads, and the overvoltage is higher when the capacitance increasing. It is also found that the longer the cable is, higher the overvoltage is, however this is opposite when the load is capacitive. Furthermore, the results of our digital simulation by PSCAD/EMTDC (electro-magnetic transients including DC) are compared with the experimental results, and they are well matched.
