Abstract:Daylight has an important impact on the indoor environment of railway stations.As large area of transparent envelope is often the weak link for building energy efficiency,a reasonable balance between light and heat should be considered during daylighting design of railway stations.However,overall consideration of light and heat was rarely taken into account in current study,which could easily lead to poor light and thermal environment.By field measuring and research,the authors have learned the general situation of daylighting for the existing railway stations,and determine a reasonable demand for daylight.Based on computer simulation technology,the authors optimize daylighting to improve overall energy efficiency and indoor environment,which provides reference and design guidance for follow-up stations.

Abstract:One characteristic of railway stations in China is that the entrance hall, ticket office, integrated waiting hall and auxiliary space are all concentrated in a large span of space, forming a unified whole space. However, the multi-function fusion in such a large space results in a series of acoustic problems, such as long reverberation time, high environmental noise and poor language articulation. Therefore, it is necessary to study the acoustic environment of railway stations in China. In this study, the sound field characteristics of the typical railway station are studied to reveal its law of sound propagation. Next, subjective evaluation and objective experiments are carried out to study the acoustic environment and comfort in the waiting hall. Finally, based on the comparative analysis of various influential factors, such as sound source and sound field, this paper advances some suggestions for the acoustical design of high-speed railway stations.

Abstract:With the continuous development of EMU technology, the role of light rail trains in cities is becoming more and more important. A good overall light environment is of great significance for the safe and efficient operation of light rail trains. This experiment is based on the purpose of exploring the evaluating the train light environment method. In this study, we adopted the method of first using optical software DIALux and TracePro simulation, then conducting physical test and subsequent ergonomics experimental verification. By comparing the simulation results with the experimental results, we gave the suggestion about the final evaluation of the train light environment. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide a scientific method and basis for the design of the light environment of the train cab and passenger compartment in the future.

Abstract:Based on the theory of visual environmental load, a series of evaluation methods for the guiding visual environment of rail transit station are brought forward. By analyzing the precision of simulative wayfinding and the proportion of each kind of wayfinding questions in a rail transit station during peaking hours, the guiding visual environment in the behavioral process of passengers could be evaluated. Then these methods are applied to Xujiahui Station in Shanghai to evaluate and meliorate the guiding visual environment of this station.

Abstract:Present, railway stations are rather common in every cities, towns and villages. In this study, the field study method of soundscape in railway stations has been developed, aiming at finding out the relationships between users’ evaluation of sound environment and other factors in such spaces, as well as their similarities and differences with other urban public spaces. Based on sociological theory, questionnaires and simpling methods have been designed. Using these methods, soundscape surveys and measurement have been carried out in 4 railway stations in capital cities, China, considering both staffs and passengers. By analysing the data, some initial results are given in this paper for further research.

Abstract:The fuzzy mathematics was applied to get the illuminance index in departure lounge at Railway Station. Through the measurement of illumination in departure lounge at the railway stations in typical Chinese cities (Harbin, Beijing, Shanghai and Changsha), mean value of illuminance is calculated passengers' illumination comfort sense in departure lounge at four railway stations was investigated, statistical analysis of passengers' comfort sense under different levels of illuminance was carried out; the threshold of shading value was calculated. Illumination was further studied by means of Ridit method; and analysis the effect of illuminance to energy consumption The results show that the shading value annoying threshold of illuminance in departure lounge (EL) was 92.31x; meet the passengers comfort demand illuminance was chosen between 113.61x and 73.21x; and the illuminance which meets passengers comfort in departure lounge at the railway stations is 801x.Optimum lighting power density(LPD)is 2.08 W/m(2).

Abstract:The transfer space realizes the connectivity of subway intersections. Passengers generally express that they have a poor experience in the use of this space, so improving the environmental suitability of transfer spaces at subway stations is a top priority. Based on a literature review and field research, this study established an environmental suitability evaluation system for transfer spaces and used the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate the environmental suitability of eight samples in Shanghai. The results showed that the evaluation results of the eight samples were ranked as follows: Hanzhong Road Station > People's Square Station > East Nanjing Road Station > Century Avenue Station > Xujiahui Station > Laoximen Station > Jiangsu Road Station > Shanghai Railway Station. Through the analysis of the relationship between the indicators, it was found that the environmental suitability of a transfer space is greatly affected by safety and convenience, while practicality, comfort, and aesthetics were found to have a weak influence on the suitability of transfer spaces. These evaluation methods and results provide a reference for the improvement of the environmental quality of subway transfer spaces in other cities.

Abstract:Sustainable development is an important trend for railway stations, and public facilities are essential parts of railway stations. With the sustainable development of railway station construction, the aesthetic design of public facilities is a problem that needs to be solved in the field of industrial design. In this context, this study proposed an aesthetic design and evaluation method for public facilities in railway stations. This method is constructed by combining the Kansei image and AHP (analytic hierarchy process)–FCE (fuzzy comprehensive evaluation) model, and takes the information counter at Xiong'an railway station as an example to illustrate the method. JACKTM is applied to evaluate the ergonomics of the design scheme. The results are as follows. (1) Ecological culture is an important source of Kansei images for aesthetic designs in the context of sustainable development. Kansei words, such as understated, delicate, dynamic, and others, which reflect original simplicity and original nature, are typical semantic features. Simple and smooth shapes are typical form features. (2) An aesthetic design is a system of various elements; the core content of an aesthetic design is to reflect the original aesthetic feeling. On this basis, the elements of simple, harmonious, humanized, and natural constitute the aesthetic design principle. This method is suitable for the aesthetic design and evaluation of public facilities in railway stations, which could provide valuable guidance for the aesthetic design of public facilities in railway stations under the background of sustainable development.

Abstract:At the end of the 19th century, the Russian tsar built a "T"-shaped railway that runs through northeast of China. It started from Manzhouli in west, to Suifenhe in the east, and Lushunkou in the north. Its construction was in consideration of factors such as expanding the influence of the Far East and consolidating the strategic position of the Yellow Sea region of China (referred to as "Chinese Eastern Railway"). During the construction of the railway from 1897 to 1903, a large number of railway station areas were continuously developed and constructed, and a new type of settlement in the northeastern China due to the road was born. The urban form produced during this period has had a profound impact on the subsequent development of urban areas in Northeast China. The construction method of the early settlements and the urban form has the same characteristics. At the same time, due to their own environment and location advantages, each town has many unique characteristics. This paper takes the second-class railway stations of the Chinese Eastern Railway as the research objects, and sorts out the planning information of different towns: structural layout, road network structure, square form, street design, urban texture and landscape greening, summarizing town planning mode of the second-class stations, providing reference for related research.
The Light Illuminance Level in Waiting Rooms of a Railway Station

Abstract:The illumination in the waiting room at the railway station of Harbin,Beijing,Shanghai and Changsha has been measured.The research started with human comfort.Based on this,the questionnaire of passenger's lighting comfort has been carried out.With the statistical result,passenger's lighting comfort has been analyzed.The fuzzy mathematics method is widely used in each field of science.The annoying threshold of lighting environment in the waiting room has been calculated with the help of this method.The annoying threshold is a kind of measurement that reflects passenger's lighting comfort.With the Ridit method,the illumination value of standard group and reference group has been obtained.Based on the result,the comfort range of illumination has been calculated.According to this illumination interval,the illumination standard of railway station waiting room has been established.Result shows that the annoying threshold in waiting room is 92.3 lx.The standard illumination value of the waiting room is from 113.6 to 73.2 lx.Considering the illumination of 80 lx is mostly close to the mean Ridit value of 0.5.So it could be taken as the illumination standard in the waiting room at the railway station.The illumination of 80 lx could meet passenger's comfort demands.
