Abstract:Let X 1 , X 2 , ⋯, X n , ⋯ be a sequence of i.i.d. random variables uniformly distributed on [0; 1], and denote by Ln the length of the longest increasing subsequences of X 1 , X 2 , ⋯, X n . Consider the poissonized version H̃ n based on Hammersley’s representation in the 2-dimensional space. A law of the iterated logarithm for H̃ n is established using the well-known subsequence method and Borel-Cantelli lemma. The key technical ingredients in the argument include superadditivity, increment independence and precise tail estimates for the H̃ n ’s. The work was motivated by recent works due to Ledoux ( J. Theoret. Probab. 31 , (2018)). It remains open to establish an analog for the L n itself.

In this paper, with the help of small ball probability estimate, a functional law of the iterated logarithm （LIL） for Xm（t） is established. Under some moment conditions, we obtain the precise asymptoties of a kind of weighted infinite series for partial sums S N as ɛ ↘0 by using the truncation and approximation methods. The results are related to the convergence rates of the law of the logarithm in Hilbert space, and they also extend the results of (Gut and Spǎtaru, 2003).

Abstract:The exponential inequality of the maximum partial sums is a key to establish the law of the iterated logarithm of negatively associated random variables. In the one-indexed random sequence case, such inequalities for negatively associated random variables are established by Shao (2000) by using his comparison theorem between negatively associated and independent random variables. In the multi-indexed random field case, the comparison theorem fails. The purpose of this paper is to establish the Kolmogorov exponential inequality as well a moment inequality of the maximum partial sums of a negatively associated random field via a different method. By using these inequalities, the sufficient and necessary condition for the law of the iterated logarithm of a negatively associated random field to hold is obtained.
