Abstract:The translation and research of Chinese foreign literature have a rich and distinguished history that spans over a century, yielding numerous and substantial achievements. These research outcomes for thoroughly synthesized and scientific analyses can provide authoritative and accurate guidance for foreign literature translation and research, highlighting the significance of the China Foreign Literature Studies Index (CFLSI) database. This article focuses on three issues encountered in database development. 1) An examination of the limitations of existing public network resources based on the unique nature of the foreign literature discipline, thereby establishing the necessity for the creation of a discipline-specific database; 2) An exploration of the composition, functional design, and implementation approaches of the CFLSI database in response to the requirements of foreign literature researchers; 3) The establishment of the database framework and development technology of the system aligned with the data composition and functional design. The creation of the CFLSI database represents an exploration and application to merge digital technology with a comprehensive understanding of the foreign literature discipline.

Abstract:As an emerging way of the publishing,Publishing on Demand brings many positive impacts on authors,publishers and libraries,at the same time,there are two kinds of discorder in Publislhing on Demand: one is in publishing on demand of the dissertation,the other is in Publishing on Demand of the Wikipedia.The library field should take measures to improve the quality of the acquisition for foreign language books,avoid the disorder in publishing on demand,it includes improving information literacy levels of acquisition librarians of foreign language books,strengthening the communication among peers,using the on-site book selection method,and so on.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the Library Publication Directory (2015-2019) published by the Library Publishing Coalition and investigates the characteristics and developmental trends of foreign academic libraries in the recent five years. The analysis is carried out from two aspects: the infrastructure of publishing services and specific activities, including mission and objectives, organizational structure, personnel input, funding sources, collaboration partners, numbers and types of publications, publishing platform, digital preservation, open access, peer review, value-added services, etc. At the end, this paper puts forward some recommendations for enhancing the publishing services of academic libraries in China.
Publishing Research in China: History, Characteristics, and Challenges

Abstract:Chinese publishing science has its own theoretical origins and unique characteristics. Since 1970s, publishing as a science has grown up rapidly in China. This paper presents a structured overview of Chinese publishing research in its full historical depth and thematic breadth. It first introduces a brief history of publishing science in China, and then identifies the main characteristics and key areas of research. Consistent with the divide in social research, the debate between positivistic and naturalistic paradigms has also characterized the development of global publishing science. The interpretivist paradigm of Chinese publishing research leads to unique research subjects and methods. The subjects, on the one hand, are more focused on meta-theory. Theory building and integration has been the main goal in the past three decades. The methods, on the other hand, have been generally qualitative, including historical, interpretive, and critical analysis. Current key research areas include theoretical construction of publishing science, history of publishing, cultural studies of publishing, publishing economics, digital publishing and copyright. This paper also discusses the challenges facing publishing researchers in China and their possible solutions.

Abstract:At present, the digital publishing industry in China has entered high speed development period, but the relevant academic researches are still in the initial stage, which mainly focus on the production, value realization, protection and supervision of the industry. Meanwhile, the researches lack the prediction and insight over some fundamental challenges, such as industry development direction, development mode and mechanism innovation, etc. In addition, the researches of domestic digital publishing industry need to develop a new growing point. Some aspects need to be studied urgently, such as industry transformation, the relevance between digital publishing and cultural industry, and systematical researches on policies.

Abstract:This paper found via analysis that digital reference demonstrates six themes: an overview of research; digital reference systems, technology and service model research; reference librarian quality and reference team building, reference service quality and evaluation studies; digital reference laws and intellectual property research; comparative study of digital reference between China and abroad. It points out that the digital reference service concentrates on user and towards to expand the counseling services, improve the quality and level,strengthen the standards and quality construction, solve the problem of intellectual property rights, promote domestic and international cooper-ation and improve the organization and management of institutional repository. In the cloud environment, the digital reference will provide users with more advanced and deeper full service.
