Abstract:Researches on the development of personal digital library at home and abroad are presently at the initial stage.Personal digital library is the extension of public digital library services.It takes information and knowledge sharing as its principle,and it aims at the transformation from information management to knowledge management.The paper discusses some research areas such as definition,essence,function,model,information organization,knowledge organization,retrieval,knowledge management etc.The research of personal digital library is related to many disciplinaries such as psychology,cognitive science,behavior science,computer science,information science,semantics etc.

Abstract:In recent years,digital publishing share in the information society more and more,readers of the growing demand for personalized service strong traditional culture,publishing services are currently unable to meet this demand,especially for the digital home needs.For family-oriented,personalized digital publishing needs,this paper uses the method of multi-dimensional indexing metadata tissue,data mining,knowledge classification management,natural language as the three dimensions of the dynamic association to create a database;mechanical matching personalized method of data retrieval,and can take the initiative to push;through the reorganization of the publishing and content transcoding method,the layout can keep the original format of the EPUB format document;using digital watermarking and digital encryption to protect the method of combining the author's legitimate interests.In this article based on the development of family-oriented personal digital publishing services system,in practice,demonstrate the practicality of this technology.

Abstract:The paper explores the new model of Information resource sharing of Personal Digital Library by using such methods as the systems analysis and design and the simulation. Through the technology such as the P2P, metadata and database, it aims to construct the PDL resource sharing platform to implement the effective information resource sharing of PDL in the certain sharing scope such as academic society, research group, and good friends and so on for the teaching and research. Through the paper, we wish to promote the management of the personal information and knowledge, promote innovation and increment of personal knowledge.

Abstract:With the advent of web2.0 era, it has been becoming increasingly easy to create and share Internet content. Plenty of pictures are uploaded to the Internet every day. A primary challenge against traditional image retrieval technologies is how to help users quickly discover the images they need. Personalised image retrieval is a new trend in the field of image retrieval. It not only improves the accuracy of the existing retrieval systems, but also better meets the users' needs. Personalised image retrieval and recommendation (PIRR) can be grouped into two main categories, content-based PIRR and collaborative filtering (CF)-based PIRR. This paper first summarises the development of image retrieval and introduces different image retrieval solutions. Then the key technologies of content-based PIRR are analysed from three aspects, user interest acquisition, user interest representation and personalised implementation. Different techniques are compared and analysed. Regarding CF-based PIRR, the user-based, item-based and model-based CF-based PIRR are introduced and compared. At the end of the paper, we compare and summarise content-based PIRR and CF-based PIRR.

Abstract:As more and more users choose the digital library rather than traditional library, the studies on the factors influencing switching behavior also become valuable. This paper analyzes the causes of users switching by laddering technique based on user interviews. The results show that related factors, such as school roll, perceived convenience, alternative resources, scientific perceived utility, offline using habit, external environment factors and switching cost, are significant factors of switching. Then a framework model of library college user switching behavior is built from the perspectives of PPM, in which corresponding assumptions are proposed.

Abstract:The integration of P2P technology and Z39.50 protocol in the model of information retrieval strategies for personal digital libraries can help to realize the retrieval and interactivity of distributed personal digital libraries.To construct P2P personal digital library networks and to realize personal digital library information retrieval,we should use midware technology to bind P2P technology, Z39.50 protocol(including SRW/SRU)and personal digital library software systems together.2 figs. 13 refs.

Abstract:In order to solve the library's demand for computer network technology, a research on the library's personal system service is proposed. A library-based self-service model was originally designed and developed. The system is developed from six aspects: resource association analysis and mining, reading interest analysis, data collection, personal service, personal service scheduling, and data warehouse. Secondly, it shows that this study has done some research on library application itself and completed some research. Finally, libraries can accomplish personal services in a variety of ways, such as distributing modifications, smart administrators, vertical portals, pushers, and more. In foreign libraries and universities represented by North Carolina State University and the Data and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the construction of personal data in digital libraries has become an important part of future development. According to the law, 57.9% and 65.0% of users ranked search engines as second only to e-mail in the China Internet Improvement Data released by the China Internet Network Information Center in 2000 and 2005, respectively.

Abstract:Driven and influenced by the theories and ideas of Web2.0,digital library has been coming into the stage of Lib2.0 quietly,and propelled by the search engines such as Google and Yahoo,a new turning point is brought to sustainable development of digital library. The extent of sustainable development is related closely with the application of Web2.0,therefore,as one of the core technologies in the Web2.0 family,P2P will promote sustainable development of digital library. The paper analyzes deeply the influence which P2P technology has had on some key problems in the development course of digital library,such as individualized service,information organization and model of digitized resources service.

Abstract:This paper investigates the homepage construction of university branch libraries(UBLs) of 10 Chinese and foreign universities by applying the typical survey method.By comparing the similarities and differences of the UBL homepages in their construction form,functionality,and content of services,the successful experience in the UBL homepage construction is concluded.It is suggested that Chinese UBL homepage construction can be developed and improved in some aspects including highlighting the subject navigation functionality,establishing a communicative and interactive platform for patrons.

Abstract:With the growing availability of information sources like the World Wide Web, it is more and more likely for an ordinary user losing his way in such a sea of information. In this paper, we present a personal interface in digital library for a user to search material. We design a user profile based on the user's interests and behaviors.
