Abstract:We discuss various weak-interaction issues for a general class of models within the SU(2) x U(1) gauge-theory framework, with special emphasis on the effects of right-handed charged currents and of quarks bearing new quantum numbers. In particular we consider the restrictions on model building which are imposed by the small K/sub L/--K/sub S/ mass difference and by the $delta$I = 1/2 rule, and we classify various possibilities for neutral current interactions and, in the case of heavy mesons with new quantum numbers, various possibilities for mixing effects analogous to K/sub L/--K/sub S/ mixing. Strange Hadronic Matter with Strong and Weak Y-Y Interactions

Abstract:A modified quark meson coupling (MQMC) model is extended to include Λ-hyperons and Ξ-hyperons. The extended model is then used to study the equation of state (EOS) for strange hadronic matter. A weak Λ-Λ interaction deduced from recent observation of()~6_(ΛΛ)He double hypernucleus is adopted in the calculation. The resultant EOS is compared with that deduced from a strong Λ-Λ interaction. It is found that while the system with the strong Λ-Λ interaction is more deeply bound than ordinary nuclear matter due to the opening of new degrees of freedom, the system with the weak Λ-Λ interaction is rather loosely bound compared to the later. It is necessary to introduce the strange mesons σ~(*)and  in the MQMC model to describe properly the interaction between the hyperons in either strong or weak Λ-Λ interaction case.

Abstract:It is proposed that angles such as the Cabibbo angle and other angles which exist in theories with many quark flavors are calculable in theories where the quark mass spectrum is spontaneously determined by the strong interaction. Some simple model calculations of this type are presented. The mechanism is tested in a two-dimensional model where all our approximations may be made arbitrarily good. Four-dimensional, quasirealistic calculations are presented, including some models which lead to nonzero mixing angles. Two distinct stages in the determination of weak-interaction angles are identified and the relationship between them is explored.

Abstract:In the heavy quark limit a heavy baryon which contains two heavy quarks is believed to be composed of a heavy diquark and a light quark. Based on this picture, we evaluate the weak semileptonic decay rates of such baryons. The transition form factors between two heavy baryons are associated with those between two heavy mesons by applying superflavor symmetry. The effective vertices of the W boson and two heavy diquarks are obtained in terms of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. Numerical predictions on these semileptonic decay widths are presented and they will be tested in future experiments. [S0556-2821(98)00721-8].

Abstract:Assuming that the strong interactions are mediated by a color-SU(3) gauge theory, we consider unusual possibilities for the constituents. The simplest possibility, "shiny" quarks, is that some new quarks are not triplets under color. We analyze the production and signatures for this possibility. Special attention is drawn to the spectroscopy of hadrons containing shiny quarks, some of which are absolutely stable. A more complicated (and possibly deeper dynamically) idea is that of "echo" quarks. These result when the unbroken color SU(3) arises from the breakdown of a larger SU(3) \ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{} SU(3) gauge symmetry. The dynamical motivations for this speculation and the distinctive phenomena that follow from it are analyzed. We find that there is no evidence against echo quarks of quite low mass (\ensuremath{\gtrsim} 2 GeV), which might be produced at present-day accelerators.

Abstract:We use a O(αs,ΛQCD/mc) heavy quark effective theory scheme, where only O(ΛQCD/mb) corrections are neglected, to study the matrix elements of the scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector and tensor currents between the Λb ground state and the odd parity charm Λc(2595)+ and Λc(2625)+ resonances. We show that in the near-zero recoil regime, the scheme describes reasonably well, taking into account uncertainties, the results for the 24 form factors obtained in lattice QCD (LQCD) just in terms of only four Isgur-Wise (IW) functions. We also find some support for the possibility that the Λc(2595)+ and Λc(2625)+ resonances might form a heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) doublet. However, we argue that the available LQCD description of these two resonances is not accurate enough to disentangle the possible effects of the Σcπ and Σc*π thresholds, located only a few MeV above their position, and that it cannot be ruled out that these states are not HQSS partners. Finally, we study the ratio dΓ[Λb→Λc,1/2−*lν ̄l]/dq2dΓ[Λb→Λc,3/2−*lν ̄l]/dq2 of the Standard Model differential semileptonic decay widths, with q the four-momentum transferred between the initial and final hadrons. We provide a natural explanation for the existence of large deviations, near the zero recoil, of this ratio from 1/2 (value predicted in the infinite heavy quark mass limit, assuming that the Λc,1/2−* and Λc,3/2−* are the two members of a HQSS doublet) based on S-wave contributions to the Λb→Λc,1/2−* decay amplitude driven by a subleading IW function. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.106.114020 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Abstract:We briefly review a variety of theoretical and phenomenological indications for the probable importance of powerful diquark correlations in hadronic physics. We demonstrate that the bulk of light hadron spectroscopy can be organized using three simple hypotheses: Regge-Chew-Frautschi mass formulae, feebleness of spin-orbit forces, and energetic distinctions among a few different diquark configurations. Those hypotheses can be implemented in a semi-classical model of color flux tubes, extrapolated down from large orbital angular momentum $L$. We discuss refinements of the model to include the effects of tunneling, mass loading, and internal excitations. We also discern effects of diquark correlations in observed patterns of baryon decays. Many predictions and suggestions for further work appear.

Abstract:The paper defends the notion that semantic tagging should be viewed as more than disambiguation between senses. Instead, semantic tagging should be a first step in the interpretation process by assigning each lexical item a representation of all of its systematically related senses, from which further semantic processing steps can derive discourse dependent interpretations. This leads to a new type of semantic lexicon (CoreLex) that supports underspecified semantic tagging through a design based on systematic polysemous classes and a class-based acquisition of lexical knowledge for specific domains.

Abstract:Assuming that all weak interactions are transmitted through an intermediate boson field $W$, it is shown that the observed $|\ensuremath{\Delta}\mathrm{I}|=\frac{1}{2}$ rule and the small observed mass difference between ${K}_{1}$ and ${K}_{2}$ lead to the conclusion that there exist four $W$ particles: ${W}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$, ${W}^{0}$, and ${\overline{W}}^{0}$. Furthermore, a natural assignment of the isotopic spin transformation property of these $W$ particles follows a dual scheme in which the $W'\mathrm{s}$ behave sometimes as $I=\frac{1}{2}$ and sometimes as $I=1$ particles. Various experimental implications are discussed, including neutrino capture experiments, strong collisions exhibiting apparent nonconservation of strangeness, and strong collisions with apparent lepton production.
Indications for an Anomalous Right-Handed Coupling of the b-Quark from a Model Independent Analysis of LEP and SLD Data on Z-Decays

Abstract:A model independent analysis is made using the LEP and SLD data on Z decays available at the end of 1996. The effective weak coupling constants of leptons, c quarks and b quarks are extracted. Except for the right-handed b quark coupling, they all agree well with the predictions of the Standard Electroweak Model for $m_t = 172$ GeV and $m_H = 263$ GeV. The right-handed b quark coupling is found to be 42% and 3.2 standard deviations above the Standard Model prediction.

Abstract:We investigate the weak decays of the triply heavy baryon in the light-front quark model. Since consists of three indistinguishable identical heavy quarks, the commonly adopted quark–diquark picture does not seem to be valid anymore. Instead, we employ the three-quark picture for baryons where the three quarks are regarded as individual quarks. We calculate the hadronic form factors for the transitions and give predictions for the decay widths of the semi-leptonic decay modes , and the non-leptonic decay modes , . Our study can be a guide for future experiments to discover the triply heavy baryons.

Abstract:The physical model (PhsMdl) of the hadrons is offered by means of the obvious analogy with the transparent surveyed PhsMdls of the vacuum and leptons in our recent works. It is assumed that the vacuum is consistent by dynamides, streamlined in junctions of some tight crystalline lattice. Every dynamide contains a neutral pair of massless contrary point-like (PntLk) elementary electric charges (ElmElc Chrgs): electrino $(-)$ and positrino $(+)$. By means of the existent fundamental analogy between their properties and behaviour we can understand the similarity and difference between them and assume that the quark parameter aroma is determined by the value of its size of its circular two-dimensional motion, while the quark parameter colour is determined by orientation of the flat of the same circular two-dimensional motion in the space. The colorless of the barions is explained by distribution of the same circular two-dimensional motion of its elementary electric charge within three mutually perpendicular flats. Then the exchange of the colors between two quarks with different colors within some hadron can be interpretated as some twisting of same hadron in the space. We give a new obvious physical interpretation of the charge values of quarks, which gives some explanation of angles of Cabibo and Weynberg. By some physical supposition about the structure of charged intermediate vector bozon $W$ and uncharged intermediate vector bozon $Z$ we have possibility to explain as the physical essence of the strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions, so the outline of all births, transformations and decays of the ElmPrts.

Abstract:In this paper we survey the signals and backgrounds for a strongly interacting electroweak symmetry-breaking sector at hadron supercolliders in the TeV region. We study the process $\mathrm{pp}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{WWX}$, and compute the rates for the "gold-plated" channels, where ${W}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{l}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\nu}$ and $Z\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{l}^{+}{l}^{\ensuremath{-}}(l=e,\ensuremath{\mu})$, for a wide variety of models. Using a forward jet-tag, a central jet-veto, and a back-to-back lepton cut to suppress the standard model backgrounds, we demonstrate that the SSC and CERN LHC have substantial sensitivity to strong interactions in the electroweak symmetry-breaking sector.
