Abstract:We construct a toy model for weak interaction based on the assumption that gauge bosons form condensates. We then discuss the model predictions calculated from the effective Feynman rules which are derived through computing the effective action.

Abstract:We discuss various weak-interaction issues for a general class of models within the SU(2) x U(1) gauge-theory framework, with special emphasis on the effects of right-handed charged currents and of quarks bearing new quantum numbers. In particular we consider the restrictions on model building which are imposed by the small K/sub L/--K/sub S/ mass difference and by the $delta$I = 1/2 rule, and we classify various possibilities for neutral current interactions and, in the case of heavy mesons with new quantum numbers, various possibilities for mixing effects analogous to K/sub L/--K/sub S/ mixing. Abstract:We construct the effective model based on QCD with gluon condensate. Under the assumption that the gluons are condensed with the sharp momentum peak in the momentum space, we formulate the effective field theory incorporating both the gluon condensate and the chiral condensate, then study the phase transition on temperature and chemical potential plane with respect to two condensates. We find that the condensates decrease with increasing temperature, which is reliable tendency on the condensate being consistent with the argument of the asymptotic behavior.

Abstract:In the heavy quark limit a heavy baryon which contains two heavy quarks is believed to be composed of a heavy diquark and a light quark. Based on this picture, we evaluate the weak semileptonic decay rates of such baryons. The transition form factors between two heavy baryons are associated with those between two heavy mesons by applying superflavor symmetry. The effective vertices of the W boson and two heavy diquarks are obtained in terms of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. Numerical predictions on these semileptonic decay widths are presented and they will be tested in future experiments. [S0556-2821(98)00721-8].
Dynamical quasi-condensation in the weakly interacting Fermi-Hubbard model

Abstract:We study dynamical (quasi)-condensation in the Fermi-Hubbard model starting from a completely uncorrelated initial state of adjacent doubly occupied sites. We show that upon expansion of the system in one dimension, dynamical (quasi)-condensation occurs not only for large interactions via the condensation of doublons, but also for small interactions. The behavior of the system is distinctly different in the two parameter regimes, underlining a different mechanism at work. We address the question whether the dynamical (quasi-)condensation effect persists in the thermodynamic limit. For this purpose, we use the two-particle reduced density matrix method, which allows the extension to large system sizes, long propagation times, and two-dimensional (2D) systems. Our results indicate that the effect vanishes in the thermodynamic limit. However, especially in 2D, further investigation beyond numerically tractable system sizes calls for the use of quantum simulators, for which we show that the described effect can be investigated by probing density fluctuations.

Abstract:An effective model is used to study the equation of state of warm strange hadronic matter with nucleons, Lambda-hyperons, Xi-hyperons, sigma* and phi. In the calculation, the newest weak Y-Y interaction deduced from the recent observation [1] of a He-6(LambdaLambda) double hypernucleus is adopted. Employing this effective model, the results with strong Y-Y interaction and weak Y-Y interaction are compared.

Abstract:A novel grand unification model based on SO(14) is presented. Spontaneous symmetry breakings at the grand unification scale give $\mathrm{SO}(14)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{SU}(7)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{SU}{(4)}_{m}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\mathrm{SU}{(3)}_{c}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\mathrm{U}{(1)}_{e}$ where $\mathrm{U}{(1)}_{e}$ is the electromagnetic gauge field and $\mathrm{SU}{(4)}_{m}$ is the metacolor interaction which binds preons into quarks, leptons, and composite ${W}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ and ${Z}^{0}$ bosons. All the light chiral fermions come from one spinor representation (64) of SO(14). The model predicts exactly four families of quarks and leptons, an extremely long proton lifetime, and a number of other properties in good agreement with experiments. If one of the charged leptons is substantially lighter than the others (as is the case of the electron), the following mass relation emerges quite naturally: ${(\frac{{m}_{d}}{{m}_{e}})}^{\frac{1}{3}}\ensuremath{\simeq}\frac{{m}_{s}}{{m}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}}\ensuremath{\simeq}\frac{{m}_{b}}{{m}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}}\ensuremath{\simeq}\frac{{m}_{{b}^{\ensuremath{'}}}}{{m}_{{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{'}}}}\ensuremath{\simeq}3$, where ${b}^{\ensuremath{'}}$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ are the corresponding members of the fourth family.

Abstract:It is proposed that angles such as the Cabibbo angle and other angles which exist in theories with many quark flavors are calculable in theories where the quark mass spectrum is spontaneously determined by the strong interaction. Some simple model calculations of this type are presented. The mechanism is tested in a two-dimensional model where all our approximations may be made arbitrarily good. Four-dimensional, quasirealistic calculations are presented, including some models which lead to nonzero mixing angles. Two distinct stages in the determination of weak-interaction angles are identified and the relationship between them is explored.

Abstract:A weakly interacting Bose gas on a simple cubic lattice is considered. We prove the existence of the standard or zero-mode Bose condensation at sufficiently low temperature. This result is valid for sufficiently small interaction potential and small values of chemical potential. Our method exploits infrared bound for the suitable two-point Bogolyubov's inner product. We do not use the reflection positivity or some expansion methods.

A multi particle toy system with analytic solutions to investigate composite bosons in a harmonic potential

Abstract:We construct a three dimensional toy systems with two types of fermions forming a composite boson. They are hold in a harmonic potential. The basis functions are constructed from an internal and an external Gauss function. All integrals have analytical solutions. The high symmetry reduces the number of integrals to be calculated for the symmetrized wave functions. With the internal Gauss function the composite bosons can be tuned from fermionic unbound behavior to bosonic bound behavior.

Abstract:We present a spin- antiferromagnetic Reisenberg model in an interacting boson representation exactly by using modified Holstein–Primakoff transformation. For interacting boson systems on one-dimensional linear chains and square lattices, we perform Monte–Carlo calculations using the well-established Jastrow-type trial wavefunction. We find that the ground state energies and spin correlations agree well with other numerical and theoretical results.

Abstract:Motivated by recent efforts to analyze corrections to Weinberg's relations for the scattering length and effective range in the presence of a near-threshold bound state, we play around with an instructive toy model for non-relativistic scattering in a central potential. The model allows to interpolate between bound-state configurations of high "compositeness", where the wave function is spread over a wide region beyond the range of the interaction, and compact configurations of high "elementariness", where the wave function is confined to a small region around the center of the potential.

An effective gauge field theory of the nucleon interactions

Abstract:We discuss the possibility of constructing an effective gauge field theory of the nucleon interations based on the ideas of isotopic invariance as well as hypercharge invariance as a local gauge symmetry and spontaneous breaking of this symmetry. The constructed model predicts the structure of interactions of protons and neutrons with $\rho$- and $\sigma$-mesons, with pi-mesons and photons, as well as interactions of these particles with each other. The Lagrangian of the model consists of several parts parts involving dimension 4 and 5 gauge invariant operators. Feynman rules for physical degrees of freedom as follow from the Lagrangian define the structure of diagrams for one-boson exchanges between nucleons predicting the internucleon one-boson exchange potential as well as nucleon scattering amplitudes. The range of applicability of the model is discussed and estimates are made of the resulting coupling constants. The model predicts the mass of the neutral $\rho^0$-meson to be about $1\,MeV$ larger than the mass of the charged mesons $\rho^{\pm}$. The vector $\omega$-meson, which is a sterile particle with respect to the considered gauge group $SU_I(2)\times U_Y(1)$, can be added to the scheme by means of a gauge-invariant operator of dimension 5, as shown in Appendix ~A.

Abstract:A Yukawa-Higgs model with Ginsparg-Wilson (GW) fermions, proposed recently by Bhattacharya, Martin and Poppitz as a possible lattice formulation of chiral gauge theories, is studied. A simple argument shows that the gauge boson always acquires mass by the Stückelberg (or, in a broad sense, Higgs) mechanism, regardless of strength of interactions. The gauge symmetry is spontaneously broken. When the gauge coupling constant is small, the physical spectrum of the model consists of massless fermions, massive fermions and \emph{massive} vector bosons.

Abstract:CANGAROO-III is an Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope (IACT) array of four 10 m telescopes for very high energy (sub-TeV) gamma-ray astronomy. A design study of the CANGAROO-III telescope system was carried out using the Monte Carlo technique in order to optimize the pixel size and the telescope spacing. Studies were also made of observations at low elevation angles.

Weak interaction axial form factors of the octet baryons in nuclear medium

Abstract:We study the axial-vector and the induced pseudoscalar form factors associated with the weak transitions between the octet baryon members in nuclear medium, using a covariant constituent quark model. We extend previous calculations of the axial transition form factors from the vacuum (free space) to the nuclear medium (symmetric nuclear matter). The extension of the model to the nuclear medium takes into account the modifications of the properties of hadrons in the medium (masses and coupling constants), as determined by the quark-meson coupling model. The axial-vector ($G_A$) and the induced pseudoscalar ($G_P$) form factors are evaluated for different values of the nuclear density $\rho$ in terms of the square transfer momentum $q^2= -Q^2$. We conclude that in general the $G_A$ and $G_P$ form factors are reduced in the nuclear medium. The reduction is stronger for light baryons and high densities. The medium modifications are milder for the heavier octet baryons, particularly at large $Q^2$. The calculations presented here can be used to estimate the cross sections of neutrino and antineutrino scattering with nucleus, and neutrino and antineutrino scattering with hyperons bound to a nucleus, as well as those in the cores of compact stars.

Binary Particle Model of Weak Interactions

Abstract:We introduce the new concept of binary particle as the basic matter unit that participates in weak interactions and not any one fermion singly. We state the quantum numbers of this binary particle, and show the concept leads us to a natural explanation of the standard model puzzle of the origin of flavor mixing and the CKM matrix. Certain other puzzles of the standard model such as the absence of flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC), are also explained naturally by the binary particle model. These puzzles are currently thought to be esoteric properties of electro weak interactions that have origins in physics beyond the standard model at some ultra high energy scales. We show that this is not necessarily the case.
