Abstract:Typically, the mixture of exhaust gas and coal particles in the pulverizer system is separated by a cyclone gas-solid distributor. The upper exhaust gas outlet of the cyclone gas-solid distributor is connected with the boiler tertiary air inlet, and the lower particle outlet is connected to the furnace. Different outlet heights result in different back pressures. The distribution performance of the distributor at different outlet pressures may greatly impact the coal combustion and also pollutant emission control in the furnace. In the present work, a numerical study was conducted to simulate the flow field inside the distributor using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. A four-way coupling method using a dense discrete phase model (DDPM) with the kinetic theory of granular flow (KTGF) was adopted. The mass distributions of the exhaust gas and fuel particles at the upper and lower outlets were also predicted. The results showed that the lower outlet pressure had an important impact on the gas-solid distribution characteristics of the distributor. Increasing the lower outlet pressure reduced both the upward and downward gas axial velocities in the distributor. The effect of the lower outlet pressure on gas tangential velocity was inferior to that on gas axial velocity. With the increase of the lower outlet pressure, the mass proportion of both particles and gas at the lower outlet decreased, but the effect of the lower outlet pressure on the mass distribution of the gas phase was greater than that of the solid phase. Ultimately, when the lower outlet pressure increased from 1000 Pa to 1800 Pa, the solid concentration at the lower outlet increased by about 1.25 times, which means the concentration effect of the distributor on the solid phase can be enhanced by increasing the lower outlet pressure.
