Comparison of the refraction results measured with WaveScan aberrometer and manifest refraction

Abstract:Objective: To compare the refraction results measured with WaveScan aberrometer and manifest refraction.Methods: WaveScan aberrometer and manifest refraction were used respectively to measure the refractive errors in 256 eyes of 135 patients.The eyes were divided into 3 groups according to the degree of myopia.The sphere、cylinder and spherical equivalent of each group were analyzed by statistic software.Results: In low myopia group,the sphere refractions measured by two methods had no statistical difference,but the cylinder and spherical equivalent refractions measured by WaveScan were higher than those by manifest refraction.In moderate and high myopia group,the spherical equivalent refractions measured by the two methods had no statistical difference,the sphere measured by WavaScan were lower while the cylinder were higher.The differences of the measured data were statistically significant.Conclusion: The sphere of low myopia and spherical equivalent of moderate and high myopia measured by WaveScan aberrometer are accurate and reliable.
