Abstract:It is shown that a radical square zero algebra is wild, if and only if it is of Corner’s type, and it is strictly wild if and only if it is Endo-wild. This gives a negative answer to a problem posed by Simson.

Abstract:We prove that all wild blocks of type $A$ Hecke algebras with quantum characteristic $e \geqslant 3$ -- i.e. blocks of weight at least $2$ -- are strictly wild, with the possible exception of the weight $2$ Rouquier block for $e = 3$. As a corollary, we show that for $e \geq 3$, all wild blocks of the $q$-Schur algebras are strictly wild, without exception.

Abstract:We study the behaviour of the Igusa-Todorov functions for radical square zero algebras. We show that the left and the right $\phi$-dimensions coincide, in this case. Some general results are given, but we concentrate more in the radical square zero algebras. Our study is based on two notions of hearth and member of a quiver $Q$. We give some bounds for the $\phi$ and the $\psi$-dimensions and we describe the algebras for which the bound of $\psi$ is obtained. We also exhibit modules for which the $\phi$-dimension is realised.

Abstract:We apply the notion of hyperfinite families of modules to the wild path algebras of generalised Kronecker quivers $k\Theta(d)$. While the preprojective and postinjective component are hyperfinite, we show the existence of a family of non-hyperfinite modules in the regular component for some $d$. Making use of dimension expanders to achieve this, our construction is more explicit than previous results. From this it follows that no finitely controlled wild algebra is of amenable representation type.

Abstract:Suppose $\Lambda$ is a special biserial algebra over an algebraically closed field. Schröer showed that if $\Lambda$ is domestic then the radical of the category of finitely generated (left) $\Lambda$-modules is nilpotent, and the least ordinal, denoted $\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)$, where the decreasing sequence of powers of the radical stabilizes satisfies $\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)<\omega^2$. With Gupta and Sardar, the third author conjectured that if $\Lambda$ has at least one band then $\omega\le\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)<\omega^2$ even when $\Lambda$ is non-domestic. In this paper we settle this conjecture in the affirmative. We also describe an algorithm to compute $\mathrm{st}(\Lambda)$ up to a finite error. We also show that for each $\omega\leq\alpha<\omega^2$ there is a finite-dimensional tame representation type algebra $\Gamma$ with $\mathrm{st}(\Gamma)=\alpha$.

Abstract:Journal of Algebra and Its Applications, Ahead of Print. Let [math] be an algebra over the field [math]. We say that [math] is two-sided zero product determined if every bilinear functional [math] the following holds: if [math] whenever [math], then there exist linear functionals [math] and [math] on [math] such that [math] for all [math]. We show that the unital triangular algebra [math] is a two-sided zero product determined algebra if and only if [math] and [math] are two-sided zero product determined algebras, and then we get various results about this property for generalized triangular algebras and block upper triangular matrix algebras. We also provide an application of the main result to determine the structure of commutativity preserving maps at commutative zero products on triangular algebras. We note that some of the previous results about the two-sided zero product determined property have been generalized.

Abstract:Looking at the automata defined over a group alphabet as a nearring, we see that they are a highly complicated structure. As with ring theory, one method to deal with complexity is to look at semisimplicity modulo radical structures. We find some bounds on the Jacobson 2-radical and show that in certain groups, this radical can be explicitly found and the semisimple image determined.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss wild embeddings like Alexanders horned ball and relate them to fractal spaces. We build a $C^{\star}$-algebra corresponding to a wild embedding. We argue that a wild embedding is the result of a quantization process applied to a tame embedding. Therefore quantum states are directly the wild embeddings. Then we give an example of a wild embedding in the 4-dimensional spacetime. We discuss the consequences for cosmology.

Abstract:It is shown that a simple vertex operator algebra V is rational if and only if its Zhu algebra A(V ) is semisimple and each irreducible admissible V -module is ordinary. A contravariant form on a Verma type admissible V -module is constructed and the radical is exactly the maximal proper submodule. As an application the rationality of V + L for any positive definite even lattice is obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the following non-linear generalization of the classical Sylvester-Gallai theorem. Let $\mathbb{K}$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$, and $\mathcal{F}=\{F_1,\cdots,F_m\} \subset \mathbb{K}[x_1,\cdots,x_N]$ be a set of irreducible homogeneous polynomials of degree at most $d$ such that $F_i$ is not a scalar multiple of $F_j$ for $i\neq j$. Suppose that for any two distinct $F_i,F_j\in \mathcal{F}$, there is $k\neq i,j$ such that $F_k\in \mathrm{rad}(F_i,F_j)$. We prove that such radical SG configurations must be low dimensional. More precisely, we show that there exists a function $\lambda : \mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{N}$, independent of $\mathbb{K},N$ and $m$, such that any such configuration $\mathcal{F}$ must satisfy $$ \dim (\mathrm{span}_{\mathbb{K}}{\mathcal{F}}) \leq \lambda(d). $$ Our result confirms a conjecture of Gupta [Gup14, Conjecture 2] and generalizes the quadratic and cubic Sylvester-Gallai theorems of [S20,OS22]. Our result takes us one step closer towards the first deterministic polynomial time algorithm for the Polynomial Identity Testing (PIT) problem for depth-4 circuits of bounded top and bottom fanins. Our result, when combined with the Stillman uniformity type results of [AH20a,DLL19,ESS21], yields uniform bounds for several algebraic invariants such as projective dimension, Betti numbers and Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of ideals generated by radical SG configurations.

The forbidden region for random zeros: appearance of quadrature domains

Abstract:Our main discovery is a surprising interplay between quadrature domains on the one hand, and the zero process of the Gaussian Entire Function (GEF) on the other. Specifically, consider the GEF conditioned on the rare hole event that there are no zeros in a given large Jordan domain. We show that in the natural scaling limit, a quadrature domain enclosing the hole emerges as a forbidden region, where the zero density vanishes. Moreover, we give a description of those holes for which the forbidden region is a disk. The connecting link between random zeros and potential theory is supplied by a constrained extremal problem for the Zeitouni-Zelditch functional. To solve this problem, we recast it in terms of a seemingly novel obstacle problem, where the solution is forced to be harmonic inside the hole.

Abstract:We give a method to study the finiteness of the coradical filtration of a coalgebra; as a consequence, we show that a left semiartinian profinite algebra has nilpotent Jacobson radical and is right semiartinian too. Equivalently, we show that a for a semilocal profinite algebra, T-nilpotence implies nilpotence for the Jacobson radical. This answers two open questions from \cite{INT}.

Abstract:We answer a question by Shestakov on the Jacobson radical in differential polynomial rings. We show that if R is a locally nilpotent ring with a derivation D then R[X;D] need not be Jacobson radical. Abstract:Following the work of the first and last authors [2], we further analyze the structure of a zero set of a left ideal in the ring of central polynomials over the quaternion algebra H. We describe the "algebraic hull" of a point in H^n and prove it is a product of spheres. Using this description we give a new proof to a conjecture of Gori, Sarfatti and Vlacci. We also show that the main result of [2] does not extend to general division algebras.
