Analysis on the Data of General Investigation of Gynecological Diseases in 5 929 Women in Wufeng County with High Prevalence of Cervical Cancer

Abstract:Objective:To understand the prevalence of gynecological diseases in women in Wufeng county.Methods:The women of the right age in Wufeng county received questionnaire survey,routine gynecological examination,cervical scraping,and Papanicolaou staining;acetic acid staining,iodine staining combined with colposcopy were adopted for cervical cancer screening,gynecological ultrasonography was performed if necessary.Results:From 2006 to 2008,a total of 5 929 women received general investigation,the total prevalence rate of common gynecological diseases was 27.55%.The prevalence rates of cervical inflammatory diseases,cervical columnar ectopy,vaginitis,and genital tract abnormality were 5.70%,12.21%,7.27%,and 0.79%,respectively.There was statistically significant difference in the prevalence rates of cervical inflammatory diseases,cervical columnar ectopy,and vaginitis among the women in different age groups(P0.05),the prevalence rate of vaginitis in ≥50-year-old group was higher(13.68%).The prevalence rates of cervical inflammatory diseases and cervical columnar ectopy in ≤39-year-old group were 20.28% and 11.70%,respectively,which were statistically significantly higher than those in the other age groups(P0.05).Conclusion:Gynecological diseases were the major diseases which were harmful in economic less-developed areas,and there was difference among women in different age groups;general investigation should be performed targeting to women in different age groups,which are very important to reduce gynecological diseases and improve maternal health.
