Investigation and analysis of marriage nurtures status of the married women of child-bearing age in Gansu province

Abstract:Objective To observe the menarche age,marriage nurtures,and contraception methods of married women of child-bearing age in Gansu province,so as to make clear the basis situation of marriage nurtures status of those women and to provide essential data for the study of reproductive health in Gansu.Methods All examples were extracted by stratified and cluster sampling.They came from 35 villages of six county in western,middle,and eastern area of Gansu province in 2007.In order to collect information including age,menarche age,marriage nurtures,and contraception methods,questionnaire surveys were carried out.Datas were analysed by SPSS13.0 software.Results Total 6 091 married women of child-bearing age in Gansu province were enrolled in this study with the average age (35.66±6.18) years old,the average menarche age (14.17±1.13) years old,the average marriaged age ( 20.07±2.24) years old,per capita pregnant 1.94,per capita production 1.91,the average number of children (1.90±0.78),per capita abortion 0.02,per capita spontaneous abortion number 0.02,and the contraception rate 89.20%.There were significance differences of the average menarche age,the average married age,the rate of contraception,and the birth control methods between different regions of Gansu province (P0.01).Tubule legation was the most popular contraceptive methods,with the highest utilization rate of 77.71%.Conclusion The economic conditions and the geographical conditions have clear impacts on the menarche age,married age,existing number of children,and the choice of birth control measures of married women of child-bearing age in Gansu province.The contraceptive birth control rate of Gansu province is similar to China,but the means of birth control of Gansu province is sole.
