Development on the Online Evaluation System of Equipment’s External Insulation Status in Substations

Abstract:In order to effectively prevent the flashover accidents of equipments in substations,an evaluation model for the equipment’s external insulation status is built up according to the relationship of flashover voltage and maximum leakage current.The model is based on the maximun leakage current of insulators measured during a period of time,and takes the integrated effects of the shape factors,total cleepage distance and relative humidity level into account.An online evaluation system of equipment’s external insulaton status in substations is developed with the proposed model.Artificial experiments and operation practices show that the online evaluation system is able to correctly make a real-time evaluation to the insulation status of the equipments.
