Preparation of Analcime from Palygorskite

Abstract:Palygorskite from Xuyi,Jiangsu province was used as raw material.After purification,the palygorskite was processed by alkaline dissolution,template complex and colloid-hydrothermal synthesis,respectively,to prepare analcime.The products were characterized by X-ray diffractometry(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results indicate that all the 3 methods succeeded in producing analcime,which differs from each other on purification,crystal structure and grain size.The analcime prepared by colloid-hydrothermal is purified,well crystallized,and with even grain size ranging from 3.5 to 5μm.When template is used,crystallinity of analcime is increased.Analcime produced by alkaline dissolution and template complex method is not so pure,usually containing quartz and residual palygorskite.
