Abstract:Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy has advantages of high resolution,large flux,wide frequency band,and is widely used in the field of trace element analysis.In the online monitoring process of atmospheric pollution composition,accurate standard spectral database is the first condition and calculation basis of atmospheric composition detection.A set of calibration spectra database platform used in the online analysis by infrared spectrum is presented.The factors with affecting spectral instruments,including the instrumentresolution,apodization functions and the solid angle of incident radiation,etc,are studied in the use of the Fourier infrared spectrometer by the process of actual measurement.On this basis,the instrument lineshape function of the Fourier transform infrared spectrometer is modeled.Then the true high resolution spectrum was degraded from high resolution to low resolution,which closely modeled the true measured spectra by a real spectrometer.A set of infrared quantitative calibration database based on HITRAN is established.The simulation of calibration spectra based on the database are given.The database can be used in the infrared spectral analysis of trace gas and trace element research.

Abstract:Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a widely used characterization technique for studying chemical compositions and light-matter interactions in the infrared range. However, it remains challenging to use conventional FTIR equipment to characterize materials that are environmentally sensitive and/or have rough surfaces due to their dynamic response to external stimuli (e.g., humidity) and light scattering from the sample surface. Here, we describe an approach enabling quantitative infrared spectroscopy measurements of these challenging samples, including transmittance, reflectance, and emissivity. We designed and 3D-printed a miniaturized environmental chamber that can be directly inserted into the sample holder of a conventional integrating sphere to perform total transmission and reflection measurements in controlled environments. Moreover, a calibration method was developed to exclude light scattering from rough surfaces of the sample and the distortion created by infrared windows. To illustrate the potential application of this method, we have performed quantitative infrared measurements, both specular and diffusive, on a sapphire standard reference with a specular surface, as well as a textile sample that has a rough surface and is dynamically responsive to changes in humidity. The calibrated results measured with the equipped chamber match those measured without the IR windows, demonstrating the viability of our environmental chamber and the proposed calibration method. This quantitative infrared spectroscopy measurement technique may help advance fields such as metasurfaces and adaptive textiles, where samples are often rough, dynamically responsive, and/or environmentally sensitive.

Abstract:FTIR microspectroscopy has many advantages,such as high sensitivity,tiny area analysis etc.It has wide applications in material science,medicine,biology,and so on.Because of the low brightness of traditional in- frared light source,the spatial resolutio and the signal-to-noise (S/N) will do lower.It has restricted the application of FTIR microspectroscopy.Synchrotron infrared radiation has become the ideal light source to FTIR microspectroscopy because of its high brightness.The spatial resolution is incresased close to infrared wavelength and diffraction limit. The quality of the infrared micropectroscopy has an evident improvement.

Abstract:As a fast, non-destructive analysis method, Fourier transform (FT) near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is very suitable and effective for online quality analysis of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) manufacturing process. In this thesis, the theoretics of FT-NIRS was analyzed and an FT-NIR spectrometer with 4 cm(-1) resolution in the 12500-5000 cm(-1) frequency range was designed. The spectrometer was based on a Michelson interferometer with Bromine tungsten lamp as the NIR light source and InGaAs detector to collect the interference signal. Each element was designed and chosen to provide maximum sensitivity in the NIR spectral region. A fiber-optic flow cell system was used to realize online analysis of traditional Chinese medicine. The performance of the spectrometer was evaluated and the feasibility of using FT-NIR spectrometer to get absorption spectra of traditional Chinese medicine was demonstrated.

Abstract:Infrared radiometric calibration is of critical importance for information quantification of remote sensing of environment at infrared spectrum.In the quantitative analysis,the calibration of the measured spectra is very important.In the paper,there are three specific calibration arithmetic:two points calibration,linear multi-point calibration and nonlinear multi-point calibration.Using Fourier transform infrared spectrometer,the blackbody radiation spectra were measured at different tempetatures.Some of them were used for calibration and one was used to test the result of calibration.The result indicated that linear multi-point point calibration was more accurate.

Abstract:Fourier transform infrared spectrometer can carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples. Therefor it is widely used in medicine and chemical industry, geology, mining, petroleum, coal and other fields. Since the characteristic frequency region and fingerprint region of the infrared spectrum play an important role in distinguishing compounds with similar structures, the locating accuracy of spectral peaks directly affects the performance of subsequent sample analysis. In order to realize the peak searching of infrared spectrum, this paper proposes a method based on piece-wise polynomial fitting to fit the spectral data, and designs a peak searching method based on derivation on this basis. Taking the polystyrene infrared wavelength standard material as the sample, the experiment verifies that the spectral fitting and peak searching method proposed in this paper can obtain the required wave number indication error and wave number repeatability, having good performances.

Abstract:<span>Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is an important tool for material characterization. However, due to the diffraction limit, conventional infrared spectroscopy cannot be applied to nanoscale material. In the past decade, FTIR nano-spectroscopy (nano-FTIR), combining scanning near-field optical microscopy and FTIR, has made significant progress. It provides scientists a powerful tool to study polymers, 2D-materials, semiconductor devices, and biomaterials at the nanoscale. In this review, we introduce the development and working mechanism of nano-FTIR, and summarize some typical applications in different research fields. The purpose of this review is to allow readers to understand the basic principles of nano-FTIR, its current development status, and the application potential of this technology. Finally, we briefly summarize current challenges faced by this technology and present some research directions that deserve attention in the future.</span>

Multi-component Gas Analyzer Based on Fourier Transform Spectrometer

Abstract:A multi-component Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) gas analyzer with a low spectral resolution (8cm-1) is described in this paper. The hardware of this analyzer is consisting of a rugged Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS), an uncooled pyroelectric Deuterated L-Alanine TriGlycine Sulfate (DLATGS) detector, a glass body long-path gas cell and relevant sampling devices. The transplantable software and algorithms include the building of spectral library from the free sources such as EPA, NIST, HITRAN etc, identification of spectrum components and a modified classical least square regression with automatic baseline compensation. In order to validate this system, we implemented a continuous on-line experiment using the 55 μmol·mol-1 methane and 28 μmol·mol-1 nitrous oxide standard mixtures. The experimental results show this low resolution analyzer has accuracy and robust analysis abilities. The description in this paper is helpful to facilitate the development of a FTIR multi-component gas analyzer.
FTIR Measurement and Analysis Based on the Selection of Optimized Spectral Band

Abstract:In active infrared remote sensing measurements, the infrared absorption caused by the presence of trace gases in atmosphere is related to the transmittance spectra in different infrared wave band. In many cases, transmittance spectra play an important role in spectsal quantitative analysis. Thus, the selection of wave band to be optimized for the measured and simulated transmittance spectra is the key in quantitative analysis. In the present paper, the optimal measurement range of transmittance is analyzed theoretically, which causes the minimum relative error of the retrieved concentration. The cross section for the measured gas based on Lorentz line shape is derived by calculation. At the same time, the transmittance spectra calibration training set is presented. The measured and analyzed band is determined for single component CO2. The optimal measurement band is determined for multi-component measurement. The simultaneous measurement of CO, CO2 and N2O with open path FTIR spectrometer system is accomplished successfully. The measured transmittance spectra are in good agreement with the reference transmittance spectra. The root me an square error of fitting results is less than 1%.

Abstract:Advances in on-chip spectroscopy are resulting in improved chemical and biological sensing applications. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) technology, a leading spectroscopy system, exhibits an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio over other spectroscopy designs by utilizing Fellgett’s advantage. To achieve this, FTIR spectrometers have a variable arm path length and use modulation of the index of refraction to enable spectral decomposition of light from the interferogram. However, this approach often requires discrete optical elements resulting in a costly and bulky design. In addition, it results in increased system complexity from mechanical moving parts and reduced system robustness. Many on-chip spectrometers use spectrum splitting, a much less effective spectrometry system, due to size and power constraints. These designs have a reduced signal-to-noise ratio because they lack the Fellgett advantage present in FTIR spectrometers.

Abstract:The hardware design of a Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR)analyzer was improved to realize the simultaneous and continuous measurements of greenhouse gases andδ13 CO2 values in high Precision.Firstly,the FTIR measurement system was designed and analyzed theoretically,and the temperature and pressure monitoring systems and sealed drying gas circuit were introduced into the spectroscopy.Then the process of quantitative spectral analysis was presented.Finally,thecomparative measurements were designed by using standard gases.Experimental results on CH4,CO,CO2andδ13 CO2 indicate that the Standard Deviations(STD)measured by the designed analyzer are0.01,0.011,0.239×10-6 and 0.572‰,the standard uncertainty of designed measurement system is improved about 6.3,8.45,10.54 and 14.73 times that of routine FTIR measurements,and the system errors are improved about 2.88,1.93,4.67 and 4.66 times,respectively.The comparison of the measurement results between the analyzer and the Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer(IRMS)forδ13CO2value shows that the STDs are 0.572‰and 0.171‰respectively,and the standard uncertainty of the both methods is similar.The FTIR analyzer for greenhouse gases and carbon isotope ratios satisfies the requirements of measurements for multi-species,online and high precision.

Abstract:The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR)Spectrometer has the advantages of high flux and high signal-to-noise ratio.With the help of step scan and the time resolution functions of the spectrometer,FTIR system can be applied to characterize the photo-response spectrum of the infrared focal plane arrays.The response spectra of all the pixels can be measured at once.In the whole spectrum range of 400 ~10000 cm -1 ,the spectral resolution can reach 4cm -1 .

Abstract:Based on the analysis of the disadvantages of general optical path based on the reflectance accessory,this article designed a simple and useful double-optical path to improve the infrared spectroscopic measurements.The new optical path technique can record synchronously the spectroscopic signals of sample and background,reduce the experimental errors,and correspondingly increase the sensitivity.Moreover,it can be applied to both the experiments under small incident angles and large angles conveniently.

Abstract:A method for the measurements of atmospheric transmittance by FTIR spectrometer is proposed. Calibrating spectral response of system based on two-point temperature with blackbody, transmittance Spectra Of CO2 IR absorption band are analyzed and calculated depending on the measurement data. The CO2 concentration in atmosphere is acquired after fitting the measured spectra with the line parameter in HITRAN employing NLLS algorithm. The results agree with the standard CO2 concentration considered in the environmental monitoring. It indicates that the method is feasible for. measuring atmospheric transmittance and analyzing gases in quantity.

Abstract:Airborne Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry(FTIR) can be used to monitor the concentration of trace gas in atmosphere against various ground background.In the quantitative analysis, the calibration of the measured spectra is very important.Two-point linear calibration is carried out for a MB154 spectrometer by using a 120℃blackbody and a 140℃blackbody respectively.The calculated radiation spectrum at 130℃is calculated.The result shows that the radiation spectrum calculated by using this method is in good agreement with the theoretical value derived from the Plank formular. First,the original spectrum containing complex background obtained by an airborne FTIR in the spectral region from 2000 cm~(-1) to 5000 cm~(-1) is calibrated by using a partition wave range calibration method. Then,the measured relative intensity is converted to the absolute radiation lightness of the object.This calibration method is of significance to the further analysis of atmospheric transmission and the retrieval of the concentration of infrared active gas in atmosphere.

Abstract:A review of vibrational frequencies reported for tannin molecules is provided to create a database with typical fingerprints for different types of tannins. This will provide researchers working on vibrational spectroscopy applications and technicians a fast, easy, and reliable method to assess the quality and authenticity of these compounds, both extracted in laboratories and provided from commercial sources. The widespread use of these compounds has highlighted the need for a systematic characterization of the vibrational frequencies and molecular fingerprints for their identification and discrimination. According to our knowledge, this is the first systematic collection of typical peak frequencies for tannins, which can be applied in several research fields and technological applications.

Abstract:Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy has many advantages, such as high light flux, high resolution, high sensitivity and so on, and has been widely used in the field of industrial gas monitoring. Unit detector is used by traditional Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, which needs scanning platform to assist imaging, and the structure of spectrometer is complex. In order to satisfy the application of small area array detector spectrometer, this paper is based on the small area array HgCdTe photoconductive long wave infrared detector and double pendulum interferometer. The working principle and signal characteristics of the spectrometer are analyzed, and a method of multi-channel weak interference signal detection circuit for 44 small area array detector is proposed, and the method is simulated and verified by experiments. Using Multisim software to simulate the circuit, the results show that the circuit has good band-pass characteristics and can achieve distortion-free signal amplification. The collected interference data are analyzed by using MATLAB software, and the interference data are subjected to spectral restoration and spectral calibration. The results show that the amplitude consistency and phase consistency of the interference data are good, and the spectral waveforms of each channel are close to each other, which can well distinguish and measure the long wave characteristic peaks in the region.

Spectroscopy and spectral analysis

Abstract:FTIR spectrometer detectors have different instrument response function in different wave band. In application, no matter absolute or relative intensity of spectrum the authors use, the authors should calibrate the instrument with standard blackbody to find the instrument response function. In the present paper, the authors study the instrument response function of detectors (InSb detector and MCT detector) in Canada MOMAN MR154 FTIR spectrometer. The authors found the law of the change in instrument response function with temperature (radiation brightness). It is important for FTIR spectrometer calibration.

Abstract:This article aims to overview infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Simultaneously, it outlines mid-infrared (MIR), near-infrared (NIR), and far-infrared (FIR) or terahertz (THz) spectroscopy separately, and compares them in terms of principles, characteristics, advantages, and applications. MIR spectroscopy is the central spectroscopic technique in the IR region, and is mainly concerned with the fundamentals of molecular vibrations. NIR spectroscopy incorporates both electronic and vibrational spectroscopy; however, in this review, I have chiefly discussed vibrational NIR spectroscopy, where bands due to overtones and combination modes appear. FIR or THz spectroscopy contains both vibrational and rotational spectroscopy. However, only vibrational FIR or THz spectroscopy has been discussed in this review. These three spectroscopy cover wide areas in their applications, making it rather difficult to describe these various topics simultaneously. Hence, I have selected three key topics: hydrogen bond studies, applications of quantum chemical calculations, and imaging. The perspective of the three spectroscopy has been discussed in the last section.
