Abstract:Crystal plasticity simulations were performed on a ferritic stainless steel subjected to large-strain deformation. The objective was to assess the abilities of both phenomenological and dislocation density-based constitutive laws in capturing microstructure features and rolling texture. Firstly, a set of cold-rolling experiments was designed, including three different strain paths: unidirectional cold rolling, two-step cross cold rolling, and multi-step cross cold rolling. Then, the microstructure and texture were simulated using the full-field crystal plasticity code Düsseldorf Advanced Material Simulation Kit. To address the mesh distortion issues in large-strain deformation, a newly developed remeshing method was employed. Both constitutive laws effectively capture the features of the rolling texture. The dislocation density-based constitutive law accurately captured intragranular misorientations and grain fragmentation, exhibiting superior accuracy in predicting texture intensity and the fraction of texture components compared to experimental results. Furthermore, the dislocation density-based constitutive law demonstrates sensitivity to changes in strain paths. The simulation results demonstrate that the successful capture of intragranular misorientations in the microstructure is crucial for predicting both the features and strength of the texture.
