Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the strong maximum principle for generalized solutions of Monge-Ampère type equations. We prove that the strong maximum principle holds at points where the function is strictly convex but not necessarily $C^{1,1}$ smooth, and show that it fails at non-strictly convex points. The results we obtain can be applied to various Minkowski type problems in convex geometry by the virtue of the Gauss image map.

Abstract:In this article we consider the complex Monge–Ampère equation with infinite boundary value in bounded pseudoconvex domains. We prove the existence of strictly plurisubharmonic solution to the problem in convex domains under suitable growth conditions. We also obtain, for general pseudoconvex domains, some nonexistence results which show that these growth conditions are nearly optimal.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a family of real Monge-Ampère functionals and study their variational properties. We prove a Sobolev type inequality for these functionals and use this to study the existence and uniqueness of some associated Dirichlet problems. In particular, we prove the existence of solutions for a nonlinear eigenvalue problem associated to this family of functionals.

Abstract:Let $(X,d,\mu)$ be a metric space with doubling measure and $L$ be a nonnegative self-adjoint operator on $L^2(X)$ whose heat kernel satisfies the Gaussian upper bound. We assume that there exists an $L$-harmonic function $h$ such that the semigroup $\exp(-tL)$, after applying the Doob transform related to $h$, satisfies the upper and lower Gaussian estimates. In this paper we apply the Doob transform and some techniques as in Grafakos-Honzík-Seeger \cite{GHS2006} to obtain an optimal $\sqrt{\log(1+N)}$ bound in $L^p$ for the maximal function $\sup_{1\leq i\leq N}|m_i(L)f|$ for multipliers $m_i,1\leq i\leq N,$ with uniform estimates. Based on this, we establish sufficient conditions on the bounded Borel function $m$ such that the maximal function $M_{m,L}f(x) = \sup_{t>0} |m(tL)f(x)|$ is bounded on $L^p(X)$. The applications include Schrödinger operators with inverse square potential, Scattering operators, Bessel operators and Laplace-Beltrami operators.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Dirichlet problem for a singular Monge-Ampère type equation on unbounded domains. For a few special kinds of unbounded convex domains, we find the explicit formulas of the solutions to the problem. For general unbounded convex domain Ω, we prove the existence for solutions to the problem in the space C∞(Ω) ∩ C(Ω̅). We also obtain the local C1/2-estimate up to the ∂Ω and the estimate for the lower bound of the solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Neumann problem of Monge-Ampère equations in Semi-space. For two dimensional case, we prove that its viscosity convex solutions must be a quadratic polynomial. When the space dimension n ≥ 3, we show that the conclusion still holds if either the boundary value is zero or the viscosity convex solutions restricted on some n − 2 dimensional subspace is bounded from above by a quadratic function. Abstract:In this paper, we consider equations involving a class of nonlocal Monge-Ampere operators. We first establish some maximum principles, such as a narrow region principle and a decay at infinity. Then, by using the direct method of moving planes, we obtain the symmetry of solutions in an ellipsoid region and in the whole space. We also prove that the positive solutions are non-existence on the upper half space.
