Abstract:This paper concerns the Lp dual Minkowski problem, which amounts to solving a class of Monge-Ampère type equations on the sphere. Our main purpose is to show the existence of solutions to the problem for all p>0 via the study of related parabolic flows. We also discuss the problem when p<0. Abstract:In this paper, we study the regularity of convex solutions to the Dirichlet problem of the homogeneous Monge-Ampere equation det D(2)u = 0. We prove that if the domain is a strip region and the boundary functions are locally uniformly convex and C-k+2,C-alpha smooth, then the solution is C-k+2,C-alpha smooth up to boundary. By an example, we show the solution may fail to be C-2 smooth if boundary functions are not locally uniformly convex. Similar results have also been obtained for the Dirichlet problem on bounded convex domains.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a family of real Monge-Ampère functionals and study their variational properties. We prove a Sobolev type inequality for these functionals and use this to study the existence and uniqueness of some associated Dirichlet problems. In particular, we prove the existence of solutions for a nonlinear eigenvalue problem associated to this family of functionals.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of functionals subject to a duality restriction. The functional is of the form J(Ω,Ω*)=∫Ωf+∫Ω*g $\mathcal{J}\left({\Omega},{{\Omega}}^{{\ast}}\right)={\int }_{{\Omega}}f+{\int }_{{{\Omega}}^{{\ast}}}g$ , where f, g are given nonnegative functions in a manifold. The duality is a relation α(x, y) ≤ 0 ∀ x ∈ Ω, y ∈ Ω*, for a suitable function α. This model covers several geometric and physical applications. In this paper we review two topological methods introduced in the study of the functional, and discuss possible extensions of the methods to related problems.

Abstract:Recently, the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem for unbounded closed convex sets in a pointed closed convex cone was proposed and a weak solution to this problem was provided. In smooth setting, this problem is equivalent to solving the Dirichlet problem for a class of Monge-Ampère type equations. In this paper, we show the existence, regularity and uniqueness of solutions to this Monge-Ampère type equation in the case $p\geq 1$ by studying variational properties for a family of Monge-Ampère functionals. Moreover, the existence and optimal global Hölder regularity in the case $p<1$ and $q\geq n$ is also be discussed.

Abstract:On a Kähler manifold we consider the problems of maximizing/minimizing Monge--Ampère energy over certain subsets of the space of Kähler potentials. Under suitable assumptions we prove that solutions to these variational problems exist, are unique, and have a simple characterization. We then use the extremals to construct hermitian metrics on holomorphic vector bundles, and investigate their curvature.

Abstract:We describe a necessary condition for the local solvability of the strong inverse variational problem in the context of Monge-Ampère partial differential equations and first-order Lagrangians. This condition is based on comparing effective differential forms on the first jet bundle. To illustrate and apply our approach, we study the linear Klein-Gordon equation, first and second heavenly equations of Plebański, Grant equation, and Husain equation, over a real four-dimensional manifold. Two approaches towards multisymplectic formulation of these equations are described.

Abstract:In this paper, the $\mathit{L}_{\mathit{p}}$-dual Minkowski problem of Monge-Ampère type were studied for different $\mathit{p}$ and $\mathit{q}$. Some new nonuniqueness results were obtained for the range $\mathit{p}\le\mathit{q}-\mathit{n}+1$, $\mathit{p}\lt\mathit{q}-\lambda_{1}(\mathit{n},\mathit{k})$ and $\mathit{f}\equiv1$, where $\lambda_{1}(\mathit{n},\mathit{k})$ is the best constant of the Poincaré inequality on $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ with k-symmetricity. The second part of this paper is devoted to prove some new nonexistence results for the supercritical range $\mathit{p}\leq-\mathit{q}, \mathit{q}\geq\mathit{n}$ on all dimensional spaces. The key ingredient of our proof was based on a generalization of Chou-Wang identity for $\mathit{q}=\mathit{n}$, $\mathit{p}$=$-\mathit{q}$ to a full range of $(\mathit{p},\mathit{q})$.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the strong maximum principle for generalized solutions of Monge-Ampère type equations. We prove that the strong maximum principle holds at points where the function is strictly convex but not necessarily $C^{1,1}$ smooth, and show that it fails at non-strictly convex points. The results we obtain can be applied to various Minkowski type problems in convex geometry by the virtue of the Gauss image map.
