Abstract:Sintering at low-temperature has been considered as one of the great difficulties in printed electronics.A new approach to realize the electric conduction of patterns printed by sliver ink without sintering was reported in this paper.Spherical Ag NPs with mean size about 90nm were synthesized by the polyol reduction of silver nitrate(AgNO3) with ethylene glycol(EG) in the presence of poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)(PVP).PVP used as capping agent can be detached from the surface of Ag NPs by some electrolytes.Without protection of organic layers, the neighboring NPs will coalesce together under the driving of surface tension, subsequently undergo the Ostwald ripening course leading to the recrystallization. The conductivity of the Ag NPs will sharply increase after those processes bringing the similar result which is achieved by high-temperature sintering. The lowest resistivity of sliver patterns obtained by this method can reach to 9.91×10-6Ω cm which is about 16% of the bulk sliver value.
