Abstract:Objective: To analyse the short-term clinical efficacy of microvascular decompression in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with vertebral artery complex oppression. Methods: Trigeminal neuralgia with vertebral artery complex oppression(complex group,n = 13) were treated with microvascular decompression.Trigeminal neuralgia without vertebral artery complex oppression(non-complex group,n = 25) were only treated with putting superior cerebellar artery aside. The short-term clinical efficacy was observed in 2 months after operation. Results: In complex group,10 cases were cured,2 cases were improved and 1 case was invalided. In non-complex group,22 cases were cured,3 cases were improved and none was invalided. The short-term clinical efficacy in complex group was worse than that in non-complex group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Short-term efficacy of microvascular decompression is low on trigeminal neuralgia with vertebral artery complex compression. The special type of oppression is perhaps the main reason of low short-term efficacy.
