Abstract:The 1950s belong to one of the most glorious decades for geometry and topology.A group of young mathematicians established a wealth of great theorems, made ground breaking discoveries, and created a new era in mathematics.These men leave their names in the history of mathematics.Hodge theory was just completed by Weyl and Kodaira in 1941.By exploiting the Chern characteristic classes introduced by Shiing-Shen Chern, Hirzebruch proved the signature theorem and the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem in algebraic geometry in 1956.The engineer-turn-mathematician Bott proved the periodicity theorem on homotopy groups.These results would soon inspire Atiyah and Singer to prove their index theorem.Serre calculated the homotopy groups of spheres in algebraic topology using Leray spectral sequence, wrote the famous GAGA in algebraic geometry using sheaf theory, and systematically introduced complex analysis to algebraic geometry.Kodaira proved his famous embedding theorem, and developed deformation theory of complex manifolds.Later, Milnor found the first exotic sphere in dimension 7 and Nash proved his isometric embedding theorem for Riemannian manifolds.These great results are like stars shining in the sky.On Amsterdam's 1954 International Congress of Mathematicians, Kodaira and Serre were awarded Fields medals.Both of their works merged complex analysis, differential geometry and algebraic geometry in a miraculous fashion.As Weyl said in his famous encomium: "You reached heights of which I never dreamt… It shows that the old gnarled tree of mathematics is still full of sap and life."On the very occasion, Eugenio Calabi, a 31-year-old Italian-American mathematician, wrote down his famous conjecture on a sheet of paper during his talk, "For any (1,1)-form R in the first Chern class of a compact Kähler manifold, there exists a unique Kähler metric whose Ricci form is equal to R." Abstract:In this paper we combine methods from projective geometry, Klein's model, and Clifford algebra. We develop a Clifford algebra whose Pin group is a double cover of the group of regular projective transformations. The Clifford algebra we use is constructed as homogeneous model for the five-dimensional real projective space $P^5(\mathbb{R})$ where Klein's quadric $M_2^4$ defines the quadratic form. We discuss all entities that can be represented naturally in this homogeneous Clifford algebra model. Projective automorphisms of Klein's quadric induce projective transformations of $P^3(\mathbb{R})$ and vice versa. Cayley-Klein geometries can be represented by Clifford algebras, where the group of Cayley-Klein isometries is given by the Pin group of the corresponding Clifford algebra. Therefore, we examine the versor group and study the correspondence between versors and regular projective transformations represented as $4\times 4$ matrices. Furthermore, we give methods to compute a versor corresponding to a given projective transformation.

Abstract:A problem about the basis of geometric algebra in this paper is posed:what kind of algebraic structures may be set up on the geometry given transformation groups?Firstly it is proven that it is impossible to define an operation which is invariant under distance-preserving transformations among points of Euclidean plane so that Euclidean planar point set can form an abelian group under the defined operation.Further discussions show that only by expanding Euclidean geometry into particle geometry could the commutative and associative operation which is invariant under distance-preserving transformations be established,and this operation can only be the addition operation in the particle geometry.If we hope to make it an abelian group under the operation we have to introduce vectors.At last,we conclude with a discussion of the significance of the results and put forward a number of issues.

Abstract:We investigate the proper projective collineation in non-static spherically symmetric space-times using direct integration and algebraic techniques. Studying projective collineation in the above space-times, it is shown that the space-times which admit proper projective collineations turn out to be very special classes of static spherically symmetric space-times.

Abstract:We review the relationship between discrete groups of symmetries of Euclidean three-space, constructions in algebraic geometry around Kleinian singularities including versions of Hilbert and Quot schemes, and their relationship to finite-dimensional and affine Lie algebras via the McKay correspondence. We focus on combinatorial aspects, such as the enumeration of certain types of partition-like objects, reviewing in particular a recently developed root-of-unity-substitution calculus. While the most complete results are in type A, we also develop aspects of the theory in type D, and end with some questions about the exceptional type E cases.

Abstract:The article presents a new approach to euclidean plane geometry based on projective geometric algebra (PGA). It is designed for anyone with an interest in plane geometry, or who wishes to familiarize themselves with PGA. After a brief review of PGA, the article focuses on P(R2,0,1∗)$$\mathbf {P}(\mathbb {R}^*_{2,0,1}) $$, the PGA for euclidean plane geometry. It first explores the geometric product involving pairs and triples of basic elements (points and lines), establishing a wealth of fundamental metric and non-metric properties. It then applies the algebra to a variety of familiar topics in plane euclidean geometry and shows that it compares favorably with other approaches in regard to completeness, compactness, practicality, and elegance. The seamless integration of euclidean and ideal (or “infinite”) elements forms an essential and novel feature of the treatment. Numerous figures accompany the text. For readers with the requisite mathematical background, a self-contained coordinate-free introduction to the algebra is provided in an appendix.

Abstract:The subject of geometric analysis evolves according to our understanding of geometry and analysis. However, one should say that ideas of algebraic geometry and representation theory have been extremely powerful in both global and local geometry. In fact, the spectacular idea of using geometry to understand Diophantine problem has already widened our concept of space. The desire to find suitable geometry to accommodate unified field theory in physics would certainly drastically change the scope of geometry in the near future. In the following lectures, we shall focus on an important branch of geometric analysis: the construction of geometric structures over a given topological space.

Abstract:Influence network of events is a view of the universe based on events that may be related to one another via influence. The network of events form a partially-ordered set which, when quantified consistently via a technique called chain projection, results in the emergence of spacetime and the Minkowski metric as well as the Lorentz transformation through changing an observer from one frame to another. Interestingly, using this approach, the motion of a free electron as well as the Dirac equation can be described. Indeed, the same approach can be employed to show how a discrete version of some of the features of Euclidean geometry, including directions, dimensions, subspaces, Pythagorean theorem, and geometric shapes can emerge. In this paper, after reviewing the essentials of the influence network formalism, we build on some of our previous works to further develop aspects of Euclidean geometry. Specifically, we present the emergence of geometric shapes, a discrete version of the Parallel postulate, the dot product, and the outer (wedge product) in 2+1 dimensions. Finally, we show that the scalar quantification of two concatenated orthogonal intervals exhibits features that are similar to those of the well-known concept of geometric product in geometric Clifford algebras.

Abstract:Classical Kleinian groups are discrete subgroups of $PSL(2,\C)$ acting on the complex projective line $¶^1$, which actually coincides with the Riemann sphere, with non-empty region of discontinuity. These can also be regarded as the monodromy groups of certain differential equations. These groups have played a major role in many aspects of mathematics for decades, and also in physics. It is thus natural to study discrete subgroups of the projective group $PSL(n,\C)$, $ n > 2$. Surprisingly, this is a branch of mathematics which is in its childhood, and in this article we give an overview of it.

Abstract:Of the great theories of classical mathematics, projective geometry, with its powerful concepts of symmetry and duality, has been exceptional in continuing to intrigue investigators. The challenge put forth by Errett Bishop (1928-1983), "Every theorem proved with nonconstructive methods presents a challenge: to find a constructive version, and to give it a constructive proof", motivates a large portion of current constructive work. This challenge can be answered by discovering the hidden constructive content of classical projective geometry. Here we briefly outline, with few details, recent constructive work on the real projective plane, and projective extensions of affine planes. Special note is taken of a number of interesting open problems that remain; these show that constructive projective geometry is still a theory very much in need of further effort. The Bishop-type constructive mathematics discussed in the present paper proceeds from a viewpoint well-nigh opposite that of either formal logic or recursive function theory.

Abstract:We present a Veronese formulation of the octonionic and split-octonionic projective and hyperbolic planes. This formulation of the incidence planes highlights the relationship between the Veronese vectors and the rank-1 elements of the Albert algebras over octonions and split-octonions, yielding to a clear formulation of the relationship with the real forms of the Lie groups arising as collineation groups of these planes. The Veronesean representation also provides a novel and minimal construction of the same octonionic and split-octonionic planes, by exploiting two symmetric composition algebras: the Okubo algebra and the paraoctonionic algebra. Besides the intrinsic mathematical relevance of this construction of the real forms of the Cayley-Moufang plane, we expect this approach to have implications in all mathematical physics related with exceptional Lie Groups of type $G_{2},F_{4}$ and $E_{6}$.

Abstract:The aim of this paper and its sequel is to introduce and classify the holonomy algebras of the projective Tractor connection. After a brief historical background, this paper presents and analyses the projective Cartan and Tractor connections, the various structures they can preserve, and their geometric interpretations. Preserved subbundles of the Tractor bundle generate foliations with Ricci-flat leaves. Contact- and Einstein-structures arise from other reductions of the Tractor holonomy, as do U(1) and $Sp(1, \mathbb{H})$ bundles over a manifold of smaller dimension.

Abstract:The author proposes a new geometry in this book. The author named this new geometry Intercenter Geometry. Intercenter Geometry is different from traditional Euclidean geometry and analytic geometry (coordinate geometry). The idea of Intercenter Geometry is that the geometric quantities on a plane will be expressed by the lengths of the three sides of a given triangle. The geometric quantities in space will be expressed by the lengths of the six edges of a given tetrahedron. In Intercenter Geometry, a unified approach is used to deal with the calculation of geometric quantities of triangles and tetrahedrons. Many new theorems and formulas on geometry and geometric inequalities have been obtained. In particular, Intercenter Geometry has solved some problems that have not been solved in Euclidean geometry and analytical geometry (coordinate geometry) for a long time, such as the distance between the centroid and the incenter of a given tetrahedron, etc. Intercenter Geometry enriches geometry, which is not only of theoretical significance to open up the field of mathematical research, to explore new ideas and methods of mathematical research, but also of positive significance to promote the spirit of innovation. The fruitful achievements of Intercenter Geometry also have practical application value.
