Abstract:A unification version of the Perron–Frobenius theorem and the Krein–Rutman theorem for increasing, positively 1-homogeneous, compact mappings is given on ordered Banach spaces without monotonic norm. A Collatz-type minimax characterization of the positive eigenvalue with positive eigenvector is obtained. The power method in computing the largest eigenpair is also extended.

Abstract:Let M be a k-vector space and R is an element of Hom(M-circle timesp, M-circle timesq), we present a general version of,the FRT-construction, we provide a method for examining whether an FRT-bialgebra A(R) has-a pre-braided structure and whether M can be regarded as an A(R)-dimodule. We show that the FRT-relation plays a fundamental role in determining the algebra structure on the FRT-bialgebra and the compatibility condition of relevant dimodule. As an example, we give a Hopf algebra approach for solving both homogeneous and non-homogeneous nonlinear (algebraic) equations.

Abstract:In this work, we revisit the Krein-Rutman theory for semigroups of positive operators in a Banach lattice framework and we provide some very general, efficient and handy results with constructive estimates about: the existence of a solution to the first eigentriplet problem; the geometry of the principal eigenvalue problem; the asymptotic stability of the first eigenvector with possible constructive rate of convergence.This abstract theory is motivated and illustrated by several examples of differential, intro-differential and integral operators. In particular, we revisit the first eigenvalue problem and the asymptotic stability of the first eigenvector for: some parabolic equations in a bounded domain and in the whole space; some transport equations in a bounded or unbounded domain, including some growth-fragmentationmodels and some kinetic models; the kinetic Fokker-Planck equation in the torus and in the whole space; some mutation-selection models.

Abstract:A generalized Krein-Rutman theorem for a strongly positive bounded linear operator whose spectral radius is larger than essential spectral radius is established: the spectral radius of the operator is an algebraically simple eigenvalue with strongly positive eigenvector and other eigenvalues are less than the spectral radius.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a complete answer to the conjecture on restricted isometry property (RIP) constants δtk(0<;t<;(4/3)), which was proposed by T. Cai and A. Zhang. We have shown that when 0 <; t <; (4/3), the condition δtk <; (t/(4-t)) is sufficient to guarantee the exact recovery for all k-sparse signals in the noiseless case via the constrained ℓ1-norm minimization. These bounds are sharp in the sense that for any ϵ>0, δtk <; (t/(4-t)) + ϵ cannot guarantee the exact recovery of some k-sparse signals. Furthermore, it will be shown that similar characterizations also hold for low-rank matrix recovery. Thus, combined with T. Cai and A. Zhang's work, a complete characterization for sharp RIP constants δtk for all t > 0 is obtained to guarantee the exact recovery of all k-sparse signals and matrices with rank at most k by ℓ1-norm minimization and nuclear norm minimization, respectively. Noisy cases and approximately sparse cases are also considered. To solve the conjecture, we construct a few identities so that RIP of order tk, which is the target of our main results, can be perfectly applied to them.
A unified approach to nonlinear Perron-Frobenius theory

Abstract:Let $f:\mathbb{R}^n_{> 0} \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^n_{>0}$ be an order-preserving and homogeneous function. We show that the set of eigenvectors of $f$ in $\mathbb{R}^n_{>0}$ is nonempty and bounded in Hilbert's projective metric if and only if $f$ satisfies a condition involving upper and lower Collatz-Wielandt numbers of readily computed auxiliary functions. This condition generalizes a test for the existence of eigenvectors using hypergraphs that was proved by Akian, Gaubert, and Hochart. We include several examples to show how the new condition can be combined with the hypergraph test to give a systematic approach to determine when homogeneous and order-preserving functions have eigenvectors in $\mathbb{R}^n_{>0}$. We also observe that if the entries of $f$ are real analytic functions on $\mathbb{R}^n_{>0}$, then the set of eigenvectors of $f$ in $\mathbb{R}^n_{>0}$ is nonempty and bounded in Hilbert's projective metric if and only if the eigenvector is unique, up to scaling.

Abstract:For an open set in a compact smooth oriented Riemannian n-manifold and a positive finite Borel measure with support contained in the closure of the open set, we define an associated Krein-Feller operator on k-forms by assuming the Poincare inequality. Krein-Feller operators on Euclidean space have been studied extensively in fractal geometry. Using results established by the authors, we obtain sufficient conditions for Krein-Feller operator to have compact resolvent. Under these conditions, we prove the Hodge theorem for forms, which states that there exists an orthonormal basis of L2 consisting of eigenforms of Krein-Feller operator, the eigenspaces are finite-dimensional, and the eigenvalues of Krein-Feller operator are real, countable, and increasing to infinity. One of these sufficient conditions is that the dimension of the measure is greater than n-2. Our result extends the classical Hodge theorem to Krein-Feller operators.

Abstract:We develop the Perron-Frobenius theory using a variational approach and extend it to a set of arbitrary matrices, including those that are neither irreducible nor essentially positive, and non-preserved cones. We introduce a new concept called a quasi-eigenvalue of a matrix, which is invariant under orthogonal transformations of variables, and has various useful properties, such as determining the largest value of the real parts of the eigenvalues of a matrix. We extend Weyl's inequality for the eigenvalues to the set of arbitrary matrices and prove the new stability result to the Perron root of irreducible nonnegative matrices under arbitrary perturbations. As well as this, we obtain new types of estimates for the ranges of the sets of eigenvalues and their real parts.

Abstract:The strong version of the Krein-Rutman theorem requires that the positive cone of the Banach space has nonempty interior and the compact map is strongly positive, mapping nonzero points in the cone into its interior. In this paper, we first generalize this version of the Krein-Rutman theorem to the case of "semi-strongly positive"operators; and we prove it in a totally elementary fashion. We then prove the equivalence of semi-strong positivity and irreducibility in a Banach lattice, linking the afore-mentioned result with the Krein-Rutman theorem for irreducible operators. One of the things we emphasize is to use "upper and lower spectral radii" to characterize, in the fashion of Collatz-Wielandt formula for nonnegative irreducible matrices, the principal eigenvalue of these operators. For reducible operators, we prove that the lower spectral radius always serves as the least upper bound of the set of eigenvalues pertaining to positive eigenvectors, and the upper spectral radius the greatest lower bound of the set. Finally, we demonstrate the full power of these Krein-Rutman theorems on some PDE examples such as elliptic eigenvalue problems on non-smooth domains, and cooperative systems which may or may not be fully coupled, by using as few PDE tools as possible.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the convergence and uniqueness of a general discrete-time nonlinear Markov chain with specific conditions. The results have important applications in discrete differential geometry. First, on a general finite weighted graph, we prove the discrete-time Ollivier Ricci curvature flow $d_{n+1}\coloneqq(1-\alpha\kappa_{d_{n}})d_{n}$ converges to a constant curvature metric. Then the author in \cite[Theorem 5.1]{M23} proved a Laplacian separation principle on a locally finite graph with non-negative Ollivier curvature. Here we prove the Laplacian separation flow converges to the constant Laplacian solution and generalize the result to nonlinear $p$-Laplace operators. Moreover, our results can also be applied to study the long-time behavior in the nonlinear Dirichlet forms theory and nonlinear Perron--Frobenius theory. At last, we define the Ollivier Ricci curvature of nonlinear Markov chain which is consistent with the classical Ollivier Ricci curvature, sectional curvature \cite{CMS24}, coarse Ricci curvature on hypergraphs \cite{IKTU21} and the modified Ollivier Ricci curvature for $p$-Laplace. And we prove the convergence results for the nonlinear Markov chain with nonnegative Ollivier Ricci curvature.
