Abstract:Let k be a local field. Let I v and I_v^' be smooth principal series representations of GL n (k) and GL n -−1 (k), respectively. The Rankin-Selberg integrals yield a continuous bilinear map I_v× I_v^'→ℂ with a certain invariance property. We study integrals over a certain open orbit that also yield a continuous bilinear map I_v× I_v^'→ℂ with the same invariance property, and show that these integrals equal the Rankin-Selberg integrals up to an explicit constant. Similar results are also obtained for Rankin-Selberg integrals for GL n (k) × GL n (k).

Product of Rankin-Selberg convolutions and a new proof of Jacquet's local converse conjecture

Abstract:In this article, we construct a family of integrals which represent the product of Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions of $\mathrm{GL}_{l}\times \mathrm{GL}_m$ and of $\mathrm{GL}_{l}\times \mathrm{GL}_n $ when $m+n<l$. When $n=0$, these integrals are those defined by Jacquet--Piatetski-Shapiro--Shalika up to a shift. In this sense, these new integrals generalize Jacquet--Piatetski-Shapiro--Shalika's Rankin-Selberg convolution integrals. We study basic properties of these integrals. In particular, we define local gamma factors using this new family of integrals. As an application, we obtain a new proof of Jacquet's local converse conjecture using these new integrals.

Rankin-Selberg's local zeta integrals produce linear functionals on generic irreducible admissible smooth representations of $GL_n(k)\times GL_r(k)$, with certain invariance properties. Abstract:Let $\pi'$ be a fixed unitary cuspidal representation of $\mathrm{GL}(n)/\mathbb{Q}.$ We establish a subconvex bound in the $t$-aspect $$ L(1/2+it,\pi\times\pi')\ll_{\pi,\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n(n+1)}{4}-\frac{1}{4\cdot (4n^2+2n-1)}+\varepsilon}, $$ for any unitary pure isobaric automorphic representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ Moreover, the bound improves in the standard $L$-function case $$ L(1/2+it, \pi')\ll_{\pi',\varepsilon}(1+|t|)^{\frac{n}{4}-\frac{1}{4(n+1)(4n-1)}+\varepsilon}. $$ We also prove an explicit lower bound for nonvanishing of central $L$-values $$ \sum_{\pi\in\mathcal{A}_0}\textbf{1}_{L(1/2,\pi\times\pi')\neq 0}\gg_{\varepsilon}|\mathcal{A}_0|^{\frac{1}{n(n+1)(4n^2+2n-1)}-\varepsilon}, $$ for a suitable finite family $\mathcal{A}_0$ of unitary cuspidal representations of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)/\mathbb{Q}.$ More generally, we address the spectral side subconvexity in the case of uniform parameter growth, and a quantitative form of simultaneous nonvanishing of central $L$-values for $\mathrm{GL}(n+1)\times\mathrm{GL}(n)$ (over $\mathbb{Q}$) in both level and eigenvalue aspects. Among other ingredients, our proofs employ a new relative trace formula in conjunction with P. Nelson's construction of archimedean test functions in \cite{Nel21} and volume estimates in \cite{Nel20}.

Abstract:Let G be a real reductive group with an involution σ on it. Let H be an open subgroup of Gσ with a character χ on it. Associated to a “theta stable”, “σ-split” parabolic subalgebra, and using the Zuckerman functor, we construct representations of G together with χ-equivariant linear functionals on them. We apply this construction to prove a non-vanishing hypothesis of H. Grobner and A. Raghuram in the study of algebraicity of critical L-values.

Abstract:Let G be a semisimple Lie group with a Cartan decomposition G = K exp($\mathfrak{p}$). For every finite-dimensional representation of G, there is an inner product on the representation space such that with respect to it, K acts as unitary operators, and exp($\mathfrak{p}$) acts as positive definite Hermitian operators. In this paper, we observe that similar phenomena appear for infinite-dimensional representations with real infinitesimal characters.

Abstract:We discover a “no semistability at infinity” phenomenon for complete Calabi-Yau metrics asymptotic to cones, which is proved by eliminating the possible appearance of an intermediate K-semistable cone in the 2-step degeneration theory developed by Donaldson and the first author. It is in sharp contrast to the setting of local singularities of Kähler-Einstein metrics. A byproduct of the proof is a polynomial convergence rate to the asymptotic cone for such manifolds, which bridges the gap between the general theory of Colding-Minicozzi and the classification results of Conlon-Hein.

Abstract:In this article, we study the Beilinson–Bloch–Kato conjecture for motives associated to Rankin–Selberg products of conjugate self-dual automorphic representations, within the framework of the Gan–Gross–Prasad conjecture. We show that if the central critical value of the Rankin–Selberg L-function does not vanish, then the Bloch–Kato Selmer group with coefficients in a favorable field of the corresponding motive vanishes. We also show that if the class in the Bloch–Kato Selmer group constructed from a certain diagonal cycle does not vanish, which is conjecturally equivalent to the nonvanishing of the central critical first derivative of the Rankin–Selberg L-function, then the Bloch–Kato Selmer group is of rank one.

Abstract:Let $p$ be an odd prime, $ f$ be a $ p $-ordinary newform of weight $ k $ and $ h $ be a normalized cuspidal $ p $-ordinary Hecke eigenform of weight $ l < k$. In this article, we study the $p$-adic $ L $-function and $ p^{\infty} $-Selmer group of the Rankin-Selberg product of $f$ and $h$ under the assumption that $ p $ is an Eisenstein prime for $ h $ i.e. the residual Galois representation of $ h $ at $ p $ is reducible. We show that the $ p $-adic $ L $-function and the characteristic ideal of the $p^\infty$-Selmer group of the Rankin-Selberg product of $f, h$ generate the same ideal modulo $ p $ in the Iwasawa algebra i.e. the Rankin-Selberg Iwasawa main conjecture for $f \otimes h$ holds mod $p$. As an application to our results, we explicitly describe a few examples where the above congruence holds.

Abstract: In this paper we study the subconvexity problem for the Rankin-Selberg L-function and triple product L-function, allowing joint ramifications and conductor dropping range. We first extend the method of Michel-Venkatesh to reduce the bounds for L-functions to local conjectures on test vectors, then verify these local conjectures under certain conditions, giving new subconvex bounds as long as the representations are not completely related.

Abstract:Let $G$ be an additive finite abelian group with exponent $\exp(G)$. For $L\subseteq \mathbb N$, let $\mathsf{s}_{L}(G)$ be the smallest integer $\ell$ such that every sequence $S$ over $G$ of length $\ell$ has a zero-sum subsequence $T$ of length $|T|\in L$. In this paper, we consider the invariants $\mathsf{s}_{[1,t]}(G)$ and $\mathsf{s}_{\{k\exp(G)\}}(G)$ (with $k\in \mathbb N$). We obtain precise values as well as upper bounds of the above invariants for some abelian groups of rank three. Some of these results improve previous results of Gao-Thangadurai and Han-Zhang.

Abstract:In this article, we give a cohomological interpretation of (a special case of) the integrals constructed by the second named author and Q. Zhang \cite{YanZhang2023} which represent the product of Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions of $\mathrm{GL}_n\times\mathrm{GL}_m$ and $\mathrm{GL}_n\times\mathrm{GL}_{n-m-1}$ for $m<n$. As an application, we prove an algebraicity result for the special values of certain $L$-functions. This work is a generalization of the algebraicity result of Raghuram for $\mathrm{GL}_n\times\mathrm{GL}_{n-1}$ \cite{Raghuram2010} in the special case $m=n-1$, and the results of Mahnkopf \cite{Mahnkopf1998, Mahnkopf2005} in the special case $m=n-2$.
