Social Indicator Movement: Background, Evaluation and its Implications

Abstract:Attentions had been heavily paid to social indicators building in many countries in the post of the Second World War.As the developments of social indicators,which originated from post-war USA,a "social indicator movement" had arisen.Although it had not lasted for a very long time,with its influence disappeared in the late 1970s,however,the similar efforts had been continuing,which including our Chinese scholar's efforts.The authors believe that the summary and review of the "social indicator movement" and the scholar' comments on it will offer important reference and enlightenment for our ongoing efforts.
