Abstract:Humanistic management, a form of management focusing on the welfare of the people, is directly affected by the culture of the society in which it is practiced more than in most other forms of management because societies have different perspectives of people’s welfare and fundamental purposes of businesses. Taking humanity as its core, Confucianism has established deep, historic roots in the Chinese society and hence has the potential for persuading Chinese companies to adopt humanistic management. This chapter explores this contention through two case studies. Both companies have benefited significantly by following Confucian virtues and by providing humanistic care and humanistic education to their employees. Based on their practices and a review of humanistic literature, we develop a conceptual model of what may be called the process of Chinese humanistic management with propositions on the key variables in the model, including Confucianism, humanistic leadership, the process of humanistic management, hedonic and eudemonic outcomes for the employees, and certain sustainable outcomes for the company.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the application of the patient and nurse centered humanistic management concept in psychiatric nursing management. Methods: Using the patient and nurse centered humanistic management concept as a guide, our hos- pital strengthened the human-centered incentive management on nurses, and provided humanized services for the patients. At the same time, the management method in prac- tice was improved. Conclusion: Through several years’ practice, the nursing managers had a clear and profound understanding of the content and significance of the human- istic management concept, the working enthusiasm of the nurses was constantly stimulated, and the quality of clinical care was continuously improved.

Abstract:The contemporary organizational environment is characterized by 4 key salient components,which are complexity,change,ambiguity,and uncertainty(UACC).Managers are challenged by problems of determining causality,managing holistically,and adaptation to rapid change.Western philosophical approaches to confronting management challenges arising from UACC,inherent in the wider economic environment,emphasize standardization and rational design on the basis of science,law,and religion.Conversely,Oriental philosophical approaches to management challenges oppose such rigid systems in favor of flexibility and adaptability which emphasize harmony and morality.By integrating these two complementary approaches,we propose He Xie Management Theory(HXMT),which establishes a clear vision and mission to direct the development of organizations,organize an integrated management system and cope with management challenges.
