Abstract:Hematite (α-Fe2O3) and magnetite (Fe3O4) nanowires with the diameter of about 100 nm and the length of tens of micrometers have been selectively synthesized by a microemulsion-based method in combination of the calcinations under different atmosphere. The effects of the precursors, annealing temperature, and atmosphere on the morphology and the structure of the products have been investigated. Moreover, Co3O4 nanowires have been fabricated to confirm the versatility of the method for metal oxide nanowires.

Abstract:Monodispersed Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a simple solvothermal method, in which Fe(NO3)(3)center dot 9H(2)O was used as the starting materials, KOH as the mineralizer, and ethylene glycol (en) as the solvent. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) were employed to characterize the phase composition, transmission electron microscope (TEM) to observe the morphology and the particle size, and physical property measurement system (PPMS) to investigate the magnetic property of the synthesized powders, respectively. The synthesized Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles are of 50-100nm in size, and of notable ferromagnetic property. The saturation magnetization, remanent magnetization, and coercive field are 68.8emu.g(-1), 12.9emu.g(-1), 138.5Oe, respectively. Based on the experimental resuts, the formation mechanism and the well monodispersed reason of the solvothersized Fe3O4 nanoparticles are discussed.

Abstract:Using an alternative method of dropwise addition of iron salt in NaOH aqueous solution, nanocrystalline Fe3O4 materials were prepared from acid pickling waste as a starting material with ultrasonic enhancement and polyethylene glycol as a dispersant, as proved by XRD, TEM, TG–DSC and ICP-MS. The results showed that the Fe3O4 material was a well-crystallized magnetite with an average size of about 25nm and purity 99.15%. Magnetic measurement revealed the nanocrystals were stronger superparamagnetic with a saturation magnetization of 82.1emu/g.

Abstract:Fe3O4 nano-particles( 1) were successfully prepared by co-recipitation and micro-eactor method. The microstructure and morphology were inverstigated by XRD and TEM. The results showed that 1 exhibited uniform and fine nanocrystalline with diameter of about 15 nm ~ 20 nm,better dispersion,particle size uniformity,and homogeneous morphology. Magnetic measurement indicated that 1 exhibited a superparanmagnetic property and has a saturation magnetization of 62. 24 emu·g- 1.

Abstract:Single-crystalline Fe3O4 triangular nanoprisms (TNPs) were fabricated by a facile hydrothermal route in the presence of 1,3-propanediamine (PDA). It was found that the EG to PDA volume ratio played an important role in the formation of the TNP structures and greatly affected the morphology of the magnetites.

Abstract:Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles were synthesized by a solvothermal method with reaction system of H_2O and ethanol in a high-pressure autoclave.The products were confirmed by XRD and FTIR.The obtained Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles have the long rod-like morphology with 200～500nm in length and 20～30nm in diameter under the observation of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy.The saturation magnetization of Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles is 64.75emu/g,which shows the good magnetic properties.The formation mechanism of formation of Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles was also discussed.

Abstract:Magnetite (Fe(3)O(4)) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a simple solvothermal process and characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and physical property measurement system (PPMS). It was found that the diameters of as-synthesized Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles became larger as the reaction temperature increased, and the magnetic properties of these nanoparticles could change from ferrimagnetic to superparamagnetic with the decrease in particle size. A possible mechanism for the formation of Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles has also been proposed.

Abstract:This review briefly summarizes our recent progresses in the controlled synthesis of single crystalline iron oxides hollow nanostructures. Using both phosphate and sulfate ions as mineralizing agents, by controlling the reaction conditions, such as the reaction temperature, reaction time, etc., we have successfully synthesized a series of single crystalline of α-Fe 2 O 3 hollow nanostructures including nanotubes, nanorings and tube-in-tubes, with controlled sizes and surface structures by a facile hydrothermal method. In addition to the synthetic protocols, we propose a novel mechanism—coordination assisted preferential dissolution mechanism, which is responsible for the formation of non-layered nanotube/nanoring. With the as-prepared α-Fe 2 O 3 products as precursors, single crystalline Fe 3 O 4 and γ-Fe 2 O 3 nanotubes/nanorings were also prepared through a gas-phase reduction process. Besides, the magnetic properties of a single Fe 3 O 4 nanoring were also investigated using electron tomography technique.

Abstract:In this work, uniform CoFe-Fe3O4 nanocomposites with variant Co/Fe molar ratios were synthesized through a facile one-pot method for the first time by thermal decomposition process in mixed solvents of 1-octadecene and oleic acid. The obtained magnetic nanoparticles were characterized by using TEM, HRTEM and XRD in details. The Co/Fe molar ratios in the final CoFe-Fe3O4 nanocomposites can be well tuned by the Co/Fe molar ratios in the reaction precursors. The obtained CoFe-Fe3O4 nanocomposites have high saturation magnetization values (up to 158 emu/g((Fe+Co))) and soft ferromagnetic properties (low coercivity, 338 Oe) at room temperature. The saturation magnetization values can be tailored from 60 to 158 emu/g((Fe+Co)) by changing the Co/Fe molar ratios in the reaction precursors from 0 to 0.2. The magnetization value of CoFe-Fe3O4 NPs remains 118 emu/g((Fe+Co)) after being exposed in the air for four months at room temperature, indicating its superior long term magnetic stability. Abstract:This study addressed different materials to coat iron oxide, after using co-precipitation to synthesize. During synthesizing iron oxide, FeSO4•7H2O as a single raw material , was emphasized as a precursor salt. In advance, FeSO4•7H2O was oxidized into trivalence by using hydrogen peroxide, allocated Fe(Ⅱ)and Fe(Ⅲ) mole ratio as one to two, and synthesized ferric ferrous oxide nanoparticle by sodium hydroxide co-precipitation, which TX-100 was a protective agent to disperse uniformly. Depend on the morphology of several nanopartical types through the processing, separation of precursor salt solution and NaOH solution in pump by adding TX-100 solution would get Fe3O4 ratio more evenly. Besides during the experiment, variety loading of NaOH and dispersant, using two- stage method to add NaOH as well, rod and particle mixure would obtain. XRD, SQUID, HRTEM and SEM were used to analyze the particle size, uniformity, Magnetic, and Crystal structure. Also, intend to find the relation among synthesis and properties, and continue to work on electrodes for battery application to seek the optimal performance corresponded to synthesis conditions. Preparation of Fe3O4@Ag was took AgNO3 and C6H12O6, the reductant, into Fe3O4 solution. Different mole ratio of AgNO3 and Fe3O4 were mix- coated. Through the process, surface modifier makes coating completely and uniformly. Later, same analysis entailed to Fe3O4@Ag product powder. The purpose was to examine its completely coating, thickness, and magnetism.

Abstract:Fe nanoparticles were synthesized via a novel one-step reduction method. The excessive citric acid helps to obtain pure and high crystallinity α-Fe at the appropriate temperature (620 oC). The Fe nanoparticles were characterized by the X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The morphological characterization indicates that the Fe nanoparticles present spherical shape with diameter of 30 nm. The magnetization hysteresis loops reveal the high saturation magnetization (Ms=198.97 A·m2/kg) and the good ferromagnetic behavior of the magnetic materials. The one-step reduction method for nanoparticles synthesis has the advantages of controllable, short process, large-scale production, and will be an important method of producing nanoparticles

Abstract:In this paper, we report on the shape-controlled synthesis of porous FeVO4 nanorods and nanoparticles through a facile route, including hydrothermal synthesis of FeVO4 center dot 1.1H(2)O precursors and sequential post-calcination at 550 degrees C for 24 h. The porous FeVO4 nanorods and nanoparticles were obtained with reactant concentrations of 0.3 and 0.02 mol L-1, respectively. The Rietveld refined XRD, SEM and TEM/HRTEM characterization shows that the porous FeVO4 nanorods and nanoparticles have a triclinic crystal structure, while the average diameter of the porous FeVO4 nanorods is about 100 nm and the size of the porous nanoparticles is in the range of 80-150 nm. N-2 adsorption-desorption isotherms show that both the porous FeVO4 nanorods and nanoparticles exhibit mesoporous structures with specific surface areas of 6.7 and 9.7 m(2) g(-1), respectively.

Abstract:Monodisperse Fe3O4 Nano particles have been successfully synthesized by solvothermal method using water and ethylene glycol as solvents, and their sizes could be controlled by changing the ratio of water to ethylene glycol. Subsequent surface modification of Fe3O4 had been carried out using tetraethyl orthosilicate and 3-Aminopropyl triethoxysilane as modification agents. The magnetic materials have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. It was verified that SiO2 layers have been coated on the surface of Fe3O4 and NH2- groups have been grafted on the spherical surface of magnetic materials.

Abstract:Iron oxides and hydroxides, including Fe(OH) 3 and Fe(OH) 2 , exhibit diverse morphologies and compositions. Nanostructures of Fe(OH) 3 such as nanosheets are non-toxic and offer multiple active sites that are advantageous for catalysis. We synthesized iron oxide/iron hydroxide (FeO/Fe(OH) 3 ) nanosheets using a surfactant-assisted method and analyzed their structure and composition. Their phase transition to iron oxyhydroxides/oxides via heat treatment were also analyzed. The formation of FeOOH, which catalyzes the oxygen evolution reaction, significantly affected the electrochemical properties. We report the morphological and crystallographic characteristics of the as-synthesized and annealed FeO/Fe(OH) 3 nanosheets, highlighting the influence of specific species on their electrochemical behavior. The proposed approach is simple and efficient for the synthesis of highly crystalline transition metal oxide nanosheets using different cation precursors.

Abstract:A series of nanostructured iron compounds including cubic Fe3O4 and orthorhombic FeOOH were synthesized via a facile low temperature (in the range of 60−100°C) solution method. In the whole process, the interaction between FeCl2·4H2O and methenamine (C6H12N4) was carried out through a reflux device under different reaction conditions such as temperature, solvent, and duration. The samples were detected by XRD, TEM, SAED, physical property measurement system, and Mössbauer spectroscopy, separately. The experiments showed that magnetic mixture nanoparticles had flake and rod morphologies, and cubic Fe3O4 took on grain nanostructure. Magnetism measurements indicated that the saturated magnetization of the as-obtained magnetic mixture was lower than that of the cubic magnetite. Mössbauer spectroscopy testified the sample consisting of cubic magnetite rather than γ-Fe2O3. In addition, a possible growth mechanism of cubic magnetic nanoparticles under different conditions was discussed.

Abstract:Size-controlled hollow Fe3O4 nanospheres were synthesized via a one-pot hydrothermal method as a function of reaction time and sodium citrate, polyacrylamide, and urea content. Multiple characterization techniques such as scanning and transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy were employed to investigate the crystal structure and morphology of the obtained nanospheres. The Fe3O4 nanosphere formation mechanism was elucidated from analyzing the characterization data. High levels of sodium citrate and longer reaction times were observed to increase the diameter of the nanospheres until hollow structures formed. Furthermore, polyacrylamide and urea promoted the formation of hollow structures. The hollow-structured Fe3O4 nanospheres exhibited high magnetization saturation values in the range of 48.8-58.7 emu/g. The facile synthesis method described herein, to generate size-controlled Fe3O4 nanospheres with tailored properties, demonstrates potential across a wide range of fields from drug-delivery and stealth devices, to environmental and energy applications. Abstract:Round-biscuit-like Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully prepared in large-scale by a simple solvothermal method. The sizes of the particles can be readily tuned from 15 to 150 nm by adjusting the experimental parameters such as solvothermal temperature, reaction time, the initial concentration of the reactants, and molar ratio of FeCl3 and protective reagents. Structure, morphology and size products were investigated in detail by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Magnetic studies revealed that the saturation magnetization (Ms) increases as the particle size increases.

Abstract:Electrochemical anodization is an effective and low-cost technique to fabricate nanostructured metal oxides, however, reports on synthesizing Fe3O4 on iron substrate are still few up to date. Herein we report a facile and scalable fabrication of Fe3O4 film by a rationally designed strategy of electrochemical anodization and low-temperature crystallization processes. The self-supported Fe3O4 film composed of polyhedral nanocrystals is successfully fabricated on iron substrate. It is noted that some common conditions for synthesizing crystalline Fe3O4 such as ferric salts and annealing are avoided. The Fe3O4 film is derived from the iron substrate and proved to be considerably robust, which could be employed as catalyst and electrode. The strategy for fabricating Fe3O4 nanocrystals on iron substrate in this study is expected to inspire the exploration of low-temperature crystallization for other metal oxides.
