Abstract:The molecular structure determination of the title compound shows that four Br atoms are located on antipodal pyrrole rings. The macrocyclic skeleton, including the four Br atoms, is almost planar, in spite of the presence of the bulky Br atoms on the porphyrin periphery.

Abstract:The title compound, C14H14BrNO4, contains a tricyclic ring system including three contiguous stereocenters all of which exhibit an R configuration. The cyclo-hexa-none ring adopts a chair conformation. The central oxane ring assumes a strained envelope conformation, with five of the ring atoms being nearly coplanar with the bromo-phenyl group and with the C atom adjacent to the O atom and fused with the cyclo-hexa-none ring as the flap. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Abstract:In the title molecule, C18H11Cl3N2O2, the central benzene ring is oriented at 8.44 (12) and 70.57 (11)degrees with respect to the terminal chlorophenol and dichloropyridine rings, respectively. The molecular structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, pi-pi stacking between parallel pyridine rings is observed [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6561 (14) angstrom].

Abstract:The absorption and emission spectral properties of 7,8,17,18-tetrabromo-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin and its metal derivatives are presented. Substitution with the electron-withdrawing bromine groups at the pyrrole carbons produces remarkable red shifts in their absorption and emission bands, which are influenced by the number of electron-withdrawing substituents. These results are rationalized by using four-orbital approach. The decrease in the fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes for MTPPBr4 (M = H-2, Zn) are attributed to increased rate of intersystem-crossing. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

Abstract:The title compound, C(21)H(17)ClO(6), is optically pure and adopts an R configuration. It was obtained by an organocatalytic asymmetric Michael addition of 4-hydroxy-coumarin with (E)-ethyl 4-(4-chloro-phen-yl)-2-oxobut-3-enoate. The structure consists of a tetra-hydro-pyran unit fused to the coumarin ring ring system. The hydroxyl and phenyl groups are on the same side of the tetra-hydro-pyrane ring. The benzene ring is almost perpendicular to the coumarin ring [dihedral angle of 72.89 (3)°]. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O contact also occurs.
