Investigation on percipience and demand of educators about AIDS orphans

Abstract:Objective To know the percipience of educators about the prevalence of AIDS and AIDS orphans.to realize the demands of the work of care;and to explore the most economical,efficient and sustainable intervene strategies.Methods Questionnaire survey was conducted among 103 educators from the 7 provinces where AIDS prevention programs were ongoing.Results In general,it was not grasped well enough about the prevalence of AIDS and national strategies.And they were still not vigilant about AIDS.No obvious differences were founded between administrators and other educators.Over 80% of the educators considered that the problem of AIDS orphans had existed in China and was becoming more and more serious.All of the informants thought that something must be done to conquer it as soon as possible in both national and local level.Conclusion It is very necessary to supply care and support to AIDS orphans based on school and community.As key persons of the continuous work of care,educators should be trained and educated further.
