Analysis on Cognition and Attitude on AIDS Among School Doctors and Health Education Teachers of Primary and Middle Schools in Shandong Province

Abstract:Objective To study the cognition and attitude on AIDS among school doctors and health education teachers of primary and middle schools in Shandong province,and provide basis for training and policy of prevention.Methods 397 cases of School doctors and health education teachers from six cities of Shandong province were surveyed by self-administered questionnaire,and the data are analyzed by SPSS 13.0.Results The awareness rate of basic knowledge,such as transmission routes of AIDS,is from 81.7% to 97.9%.But for other knowledge,such as AIDS vaccine,AIDS Day,significance of red ribbon and the policy of "four frees and one care",the awareness rate is only about 50%.The scores of respondents who graduated from colleges,majored in medicine and come from areas that global funds granted are 20.80,21.17 and 20.85 respectively,and they are higher than those of control groups(P<0.05).More than 90% respondents believed that the best way of preventing AIDS are health education and healthy life behaviors.At present,the major difficulties of AIDS education in schools are shortage of teachers,time,material and consciousness of prevention.Conclusion Health education need to be valued by leaders,and training should be reinforced to improve school doctors and health education teachers' quality.
