Abstract:In the paper,we give a class of matrices,that is a srew-idempotent matrix(A2=-A)and present formulas for the rank with respect to srew-idempont matrices.And then obtain equivalent conditions of the sum,the difference and the product of two srew-idempont matrices are srew-idempont matrix.

Abstract:A matrix over ring with identity has the consecutive-column (CC) property if for all k, all its relevant submatrices having k consecutive rows and the first k columns are invertible. Similarly, the consecutive-row (CR) is defined. In this paper, we show that a arbitrary m x n matrix has both CC and CR properties if and only if it admits a certain factorization with bidiagonal-type factors (with invertible entries). This factorization is unique. We also show that there is a mutual 1 - 1 relations between the matrices having CC and CR properties and this certain factorization with bidiagonal-type factors (with invertible entries). This bidiagonal factorization has important applications in computer aided geometry design, electrical network and many other fields.

Abstract:The concepts of the commutative laws and generalized commutative laws of matrix multiplication on generalized inverse were defined.Using the matrix rank method and SVD,necessary and sufficient conditions about the commutative laws and generalized commutative laws of matrix multiplication on {1}-inverse,{1,2}-inverse,{1,3}-inverse and {1,4}-inverse were established respectively,and these conditions were compared between themselves.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the problem of the operation law of the generalized inverse. The concepts of the mixed first and second absorption laws about the generalized inverse are proposed. By using the concept of generalized Schur complement and the matrix rank method, the extremal ranks of matrix expressions which are associated with the mixed second absorption law are investigated, and the formulas of the maximal and minimal ranks of these matrix expressions are derived. Furthermore, the necessary and sufficient conditions of the mixed second absorption laws on {1}-inverse and {1, 3}- inverse, {1}-inverse and {1, 4}-inverse are established by using these formulas.

Abstract:Representations of {1,2,3}-inverses, {1,2,4}-inverses, and Drazin inverse of a partitioned matrix M = [GRAPHICS] related to the generalized Schur complement are studied. First, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions under which {1,2,3}-inverses, {1,2,4}-inverses, and group inverse of a 2 x 2 block matrix can be represented in the Banachiewicz-Schur forms. Some results from the paper of Cvetkovic-ilic, 2009, are generalized. Also, we expressed the quotient property and the first Sylvester identity in terms of the generalized Schur complement.

Abstract:In this article, we introduce a class of generalized matrix algebras, in which each algebra is called a normally upper triangular gm algebra, and characterise Gorenstein projective modules over this class of algebras. Moreover, a sufficient condition of strongly Gorenstein projective modules over normally upper triangular gm algebras is given. The importance of normally upper triangular gm algebras for us is that it includes the so-called path algebras of quivers over algebras and generalized path algebras. Due to this, we characterize Gorenstein projective modules and strongly Gorenstein projective modules over path algebras of quivers over algebras and generalized path algebras as applications of the main results on normally upper triangular gm algebras. At last, we give an example to show how all indecomposable Gorenstein projective modules over a given algebra are constructed by the result on generalized path algebras.

Abstract:A new subclass of H -matrices named generalized (for shortly, ) matrices is introduced and some properties of matrices are presented. The relationship between matrices and other subclasses of H -matrices is studied. Moreover, the infinity norm bounds for the inverse of matrices are provided. Using the proposed infinity norm bounds, error bounds of the linear complementarity problems for matrices are given, which improve some existing results. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the validity of new results.

Abstract:Tian and Styan have shown many rank equalities for the sum of two and three idempotent matrices and pointed out that rank equalities for the sum P 1 + ⋯ + P k with P 1 , ... , P k be idempotent ( k > 3 ) are still open. In this paper, by using block Gaussian elimination, we obtained rank equalities for the sum of finitely many idempotent matrices and then solved the open problem mentioned above. Extensions to scalar-potent matrices and some related matrices are also included.

Abstract:New characterizations of the gMP inverse are provided by the core part of the core-EP decomposition. We also answer the question as to whether X is the gMP inverse of A under the conditions of R(X)⊆R(A*Ak) or N((Ak)*)⊆N(X). We investigate the relationship between the core-EP inverse and the gMP inverse.Using the gMP inverse, the gMP relation is investigated in view of the core-EP decomposition.

Under the condition of,let A be an idempotent matrix and B be an arbitrary complex matrix,then the sufficient and necessary conditions are given in which the linear combination is an idempotent matrix.And the results are directly used to obtain the following conclusions:When A and B are idempotent matrixes,the conditions of the sum,difference,product of A and B are still as idempotent matrix;The relationship of the image of linear transformation and kernel of A and B's sum,difference,product are respective with the image of linear transformation and kernel of A and B.Let A be an idempotent matrix and B be an arbitrary complex matrix,the sufficient and necessary conditions are given in which the image of linear transformation is obtained and kernel of A is invariant subspace of B.

Abstract:For a square matrix A of index 1, the block-rank equationrankABCX=rank(A)is studied. Geometrical conditions are given to characterize the solution of this equation. Further, all matrices B and C are described for the solution X=A#, where A# is the group inverse of A. In addition, we extend these results to reflexive generalized inverses. This contributes to a result recently obtained by Wei [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 17 (1996) 744] and it is a generalization of a result by Groß [Lin. Alg. Appl. 289 (1999) 127].
