Abstract:This note reports a successful preparation of a new catalyst particles through the reaction between Ni2+ and H2PO2- in aqueous solution at room temperature. X-ray diffraction pattern indicates that the particles are in amorphous and alloying state. Transmission electron micrograph shows that the particles are spherial and the size distribution is very narrow. The average diameter of the particles is determined to be about 100nm which is a "ultrafine" scale.

Abstract:TiO2/Pt composite nanomaterials were successfully prepared by a two-step hydrothermal method,and the sizes,crystalline structures,composition,and physical and chemical properties of whose were investigated by TEM,XRD,EDS,BET,Zeta potential,and EIS.The results indicated that the TiO2/Pt composite nanomaterials possessed unique physical and chemical properties different from TiO2 nanowires,which associated with the Pt doping quantity.

Abstract:The CNTs-(Ni-P) composites were prepared by electroless plating on 45~# steel substrate, and the optimum composition and operating conditions were obtained. The TEM was used to observe the CNTs' structure,the SEM was used to observe the appearance and distribution of the CNTs in the composites and the AFM(atomic force microscopy) was used to analyze the roughness status of the composite surface. The influence of the CNTs on the tribological performance of the composites is discussed. The results show that the CNTs-(Ni-P) composites have better wear-resistance than the uncoated substrate and the substrate coated with nikel.

Abstract:A polyol-mediated synthetic method has been developed to prepare ultrafine anatase TiO2 nanocrystals of about 2-5 nm in size, which, when connected, form a network with porous structure. The physiochemical properties of these nanocrystals are tuned by doping with Ni. High-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed that Ni incorporates into the TiO2 framework to form a Ti-O-Ni chain. Nitrogen adsorption measurements further showed that Ni doping can greatly enhance the surface area of these anatase TiO2 nanocrystals from 143 to 266 m(2)/g. Using UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy analysis, we found that the Ni doping reduced the band gap from 3.08 to 2.73 eV and permitted these TiO2 nanocrystals to successfully absorb light in the visible region. First principles band structure calculations were carried out to study the electronic origin of the nickel-induced optical absorption. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were tested through degradation of NO under typical indoor air flow and simulated solar light environment. Ni-doped TiO2 was found to exhibit much higher photocatalytic activity than its undoped counterpart and P25. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity of Ni-doped TiO2 is attributed to the larger surface area and the band gap narrowing tuned by nickel doping.

Abstract:Ultrafine particles (UFP) were prepared by means of the colloidal chemical method. The structure and properties of the as-prepared TiO2 UFP, having been submitted to different heat-treatment tests, were studied using TEM, XRD, IR, SPS, Raman, XPS and UV–vis absorption spectrum. The results of the XPS, SPS and UV–vis absorption spectrum indicated that on the surface of TiO2 UFP, there were surface active species such as Ti3+ and hydroxyl which can improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 UFP.

Abstract:In this study, Ni-Ti composite coatings were prepared using electrodeposition. Experimental results and COMSOL computer simulation revealed the effect of the Ti microparticles on the microstructure and properties of the Ni-Ti composite coating. The incorporated Ti microparticle lead to grain refinement, texture elimination which were correlated with the effect of current concentration and heterogeneous nucleation. Domains consisting of inner nano-grains and outer radial columnar grains were located around the Ti microparticles, where the Ti microparticles acted as seeds. This was closely correlated with the time-dependent plating conditions like current density and electric field lines during incorporation process of the Ti microparticles. Besides that, during the incorporation process of Ti microparticles, current density con-centration on the "V "-shaped valley between closely neighboring Ti microparticles promote the presence of fine Ni grains, existing between but not belonging to the Ti microparticles. Selective deposition of Ni metal on Ti microparticle surface, local current density concentration and the aggregation of Ti microparticles were observable, contributing to the spatial heterogeneity of the microstructure. Compared with the pure Ni coating, the average hardness of the Ni-Ti composite coating increased from 2.91 +/- 0.43 GPa to 3.98 +/- 0.46 GPa, leading to the enhanced wear resistance. However, spatial heterogeneity of the hardness distribution was observed due to the heterogeneous microstructure of Ni-Ti composite coating, which confined the improvement of wear resistance. Abstract:A way to prepare nano-size Cu2O with electrochemical method was first reported. The nano-size TiO2–Cu2O particle composites were obtained by an electrochemical method and the properties of the composites were evaluated by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and diffuse reflectance UV–Vis spectroscopy (UV-DRS). The photocatalytic activities of the composites prepared by this method exceed that of Degussa P-25.

Abstract:TiO2–NiO and TiO2–WO3 nanocomposites were prepared by hydrothermal and surface modification methods. The samples were analyzed using X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscope images, Transmission Electron Microscope, Energy dispersive analysis, Zeta potential, Electrophoretic mobility and Photocatalysis activity measurement. XRD data sets of TiO2–NiO, TiO2–WO3 powder nanocomposite have been studied for the inclusion of NiO, WO3 on the anatase-rutile mixture phase of TiO2 by Rietveld refinement. The cell parameters, phase fraction, the average grain size, strain and bond lengths between atoms of individual phases have been reported in the present work. Shifted positional co-ordinates of individual atoms in each phase have also been observed.

Abstract:Nickel Nanoparticles were synthesized via the reduction reaction between NiSO4 center dot 6H(2)O and N2H4 center dot H2O. The morphology and size of the nickel nanoparticles were controlled by adjusting the amount of cethyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB), polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP), polyethylene glycol(PEG-20000) and the pH value. The product was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The Nitrogen absorption-desorption isotherm of the samples was measured by volumetric absorption analyzer. The specific surface area and average particle diameter of the sample were calculated from the BET academic model. The experimental results indicated that the special multiangular nickel nanoparticles with the core diameter of 400 similar to 600 run could he obtained by adjusting the pH at 12.4 and the additive CTAB. TiO2 Was loaded Oil the surface of nickel nanoparticles by a layer-by-layer technique. The TiO2-Ni composites showed the effect of photocatalytic degradation for methylene blue. Moreover, the composites could be magnetic separation due to the magnetism of Ni.

Abstract:Ultrafine TiO2 particles have been synthesized successfully by a facile gas flame combustion method. The synthesized sample is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron micrograph (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The as-prepared TiO2 nanoparticles appear to be a single anatase crystalline phase and the diameter is about 9 nm. Besides a sharp emission at 398 nm originating from the radiative annihilation of excitions, a weak broad band at about 434 nm from the defect-related emission is also discussed. Abstract:NiO nano-particles with diameter of 10–15 nm are prepared by air-calcination of Ni(OH)2·NiCO3·xH2O precipitated from aqueous solution containing NiCl2 as the nickel source and NH4HCO3 as the precipitation agent. Zeta potential analysis shows that a moderate alkaline (pH<9) environment is preferential for the dispersion of Ni(OH)2·NiCO3·xH2O and NiO nano-particles.

Abstract:The (Sr, Pb)TiOs ultrafiuc particles were prepared by oxalatc-coprccipitation process, the thermolysis process of the coprccipitatcs (Sr, Pb)TiO(C2O4)2-4H2O was analyzed and the crystallization temperature and calcination condition were defined. The average primary particle size calcined at different temperatures, the crystal structures of sintered body and powders calcined at different temperatures and the sintering condition of powders were also determined. The results show that the synthetic temperature of ceramic powder prepared by this process is much lower than that by the conventional solid reaction process. The ceramic powder obtained is ultrafinc and uniform, and the sintering temperature is lower. Exotic structure with fine grain was observed, that is, when the particle size is very small, the crystal structure is not the normal tetragonal ferroelectric structure but cubic paraelcctric.

Abstract:Ag-TiO2 nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning and their phases were studied by XRD. By SEM and QBSD analyses, it is found that after calcination, Ag nano-particles (similar to 35 nm) were uniformly dispersed at the surface of TiO2 nanofibers (diameter of about 150 nm). As the concentration of Ag is increased, these Ag nano-particles play an important role in restraining the formation of anatase TiO2 and promoting the formation of rutile TiO2.

Abstract:Faceted NiO nanoparticles preferentially exposing high surface energy planes demand attention due to their excellent electrocatalytic properties. However, the activity of faceted NiO nanoparticles generally remains suboptimal due to their large lateral size and thickness, which severely limits the availability of coordinatively unsaturated active reactive edge and corner sites. Here, ultrafine NiO nanosheets with a platelet size of ∼4.0 nm and thickness (∼1.1 nm) stabilized by TiO2 were successfully prepared by calcination of a monolayer layered double hydroxide precursor. The ultrafine NiO nanosheets displayed outstanding performance in electrochemical water oxidation due to a high proportion of reactive NiO {110} facets, intrinsic Ni(3+) and Ti(3+) sites, and abundant interfaces, which act synergistically to promote H2O adsorption and facilitate charge-transfer.

Abstract:TiN@C nanocomposites have been successfully synthesized by an annealing method using oleic acid as the carbon source. The as-prepared TiN@C nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, EDX, TEM techniques. When studied as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, such unique structures endow composite electrodes with the long cycling ability and a high discharge capacity due to the existence of the carbon layer.

Abstract:Electroless plating is the main method for preparing metal-coated composite powders , such as Ni-coated graphite powders with wide applications in electromagnetic shielding materials, sealing coating, and electrocatalysis. However, the issues of uniform and dense coating during synthesis are hindering its practical implementation. Incorporating noble metals, such as Pd, to activate powders is a typical technique to prepare an electroless Ni coating. However, noble metal utilization is hindered by issues such as high costs and substantial wastewater. Herein, a novel low-cost and eco-friendly activation method based on fluidized bed hydrogen reduction is designed to prepare densely coated Ni@irregular graphite particles (Ni@IGP) using a low Ni content. This method can be used to construct a uniform and dense Ni coating for composite powders without acid alkali treatment and use of precious metals during the overall manufacturing process . Results demonstrated that the Ni@IGP particle obtained through this approach have good electrical conductivity and ferromagnetic properties. In addition, the uniformity and integrity of the Ni plating were adjusted, and the dense coating of graphite at a low Ni content of 35 wt% was effectively achieved. This new activation method sheds light on the field of electroless Ni plating on powders.

Abstract:Cu-Ni composite nanoparticles were successfully prepared by chemical reduction with hydrazine hydrate in ethylene glycol.XRD,TEM,EDS were employed to characterize the Cu-Ni composite powders.Effects of molar ratio of Cu2+ to Ni2+ on the composition of the product and the mass concentration of PVP on the size of the Cu-Ni composite particles were studied.The molar ratio Cu to Ni of the product increased with the increasing of that of Cu2+ to Ni2+ of the reactant,and the size of the Cu-Ni composite nanoparticles decreased with the increasing of the PVP.Experiment results indicated that the composition and the size of the Cu-Ni nanoparticles could be easily controlled by changing the molar ratio of Cu2+ to Ni2+ and the mass concentration of PVP.
