Abstract:The effect of magnetic field for arbitrary electron-phonon coupling polarons and longitudinal-optical phonon system of Cu-O plane of quantum well structure is investigated,for the first time, by using Feynman-Haken variational path integral theory.Asimple expression for the Feynman energy in the presence of magnetic fields is obtained. In numerical calculations,we find the binding energy of polarons of Cu-O plane is monotonically stronger with the enhancement of the magnetic field strength or the decreasing of the effective well width in the whole coupling regime.Moreover,the magnetopolaron effect is also found to be related to symmetry.

Abstract:The Lekner method for calculation of dipolar interaction energy in periodically replicated simulation cells is extended to two-dimensional array systems of nanoparticles with point dipoles. The dipolar interaction energy is expressed by rapidly converging series of modified Bessel functions. We emphasize that the self-energy must be included in simulations of the 2D dipolar coupling systems and derive two simple formulas to evaluate the self-energy.

Abstract:In a recent article, Ayala et al. [Phys. Rev. D 73, 105009 (2006)] have studied the dynamical generation of masses for fundamental fermions in strongly coupled QED in the presence of weak magnetic fields. We argue that the results and conclusions of the article are not reliable as they are subject to gauge dependent artifacts resulting from an inconsistent truncation of the Schwinger-Dyson equations.

Abstract:In a recent work Zhang and coworkers (PRB 82, 075111 (2010)) studied the Zeeman splitting of the Kondo resonance for the single impurity Anderson model in a finite magnetic field $B$ with the numerical renormalization group (NRG) method. There, it was found that with increasing magnetic field $B$ the position of the Kondo resonance in the total spectral function \textit{does not} approach its position in the spin resolved spectral function. Additionally, the position of the Kondo maximum exceeded the Zeeman energy for $B/ T_K\gtrsim 5-10$, where $T_K$ is the low energy Kondo scale of the model ($g=2$, $\mu_B=k_B=\hbar=1$). In this comment we argue that both these findings are produced by an improper choice of NRG parameter values. However, we reproduce the crossover in the splitting from Kondo-like behavior to a non-universal splitting larger than the Zeeman energy, but this crossover occurs at much larger fields of the order of the charge scale.

Abstract:In the paper "Andrew D.P. Smith, Peter T. Haugen, Boyd F. Edwards: Hysteretic transition between states of a filled hexagonal magnetic dipole cluster, Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials 549 (2022): 168991" a hysteretic transition between two stable arrangements of a cluster of seven dipoles is presented. The relative strength of the center dipole in a hexagonal arrangement serves as the bifurcation parameter. The authors clearly demonstrate the existence of two instabilities accompanied by discontinuous jumps of the dipole arrangement, but leave the question about the nature of these instabilities unanswered. This comment clarifies the nature of the two instabilities: the first one is a symmetry-breaking sub-critical bifurcation with parabolic scaling of the magnetic potential energy difference between the two branches, and the second one is a fold with its characteristic scaling in the form of a semi-cubic parabola.

Abstract:The integrability of one dimensional quantum mechanical many-body problems with general contact interactions is extensively studied. It is shown that besides the pure (repulsive or attractive) $\delta$-function interaction there is another singular point interactions which gives rise to a new one-parameter family of integrable quantum mechanical many-body systems. The bound states and scattering matrices are calculated for both bosonic and fermionic statistics.

Abstract:Assemblies of magnetic nanoparticles exhibit interesting physical properties arising from the competition of intraparticle dynamics and interparticle interactions. In ordered arrays of magnetic nanoparticles magnetostatic interparticle interactions introduce collective dynamics acting competitively to random anisotropy. Basic understanding, characterization and control of dipolar interaction effects in arrays of magnetic nanoparticles is an issue of central importance. To this end, numerical simulation techniques offer an indispensable tool. We report on Monte Carlo studies of the magnetic hysteresis and spin-dependent transport in thin films formed by ordered arrays of magnetic nanoparticles. Emphasis is given to the modifications of the single-particle behavior due to interparticle dipolar interactions as these arise in quantities of experimental interest, such as, the magnetization, the susceptibility and the magnetoresistance. We investigate the role of the structural parameters of an array (interparticle separation, number of stacked monolayers) and the role of the internal structure of the nanoparticles (single phase, core–shell). Dipolar interactions are responsible for anisotropic magnetic behavior between the in-plane and out-of-plane directions of the sample, which is reflected on the investigated magnetic properties (magnetization, transverse susceptibility and magnetoresistance) and the parameters of the array (remanent magnetization, coercive field, and blocking temperature). Our numerical results are compared to existing measurements on self-assembled arrays of Fe-based and Co nanoparticles is made.

Abstract:Motivated by recent advances in synthesis techniques of nanometer size magnetic particles, we have performed Monte Carlo simulations of the magnetic properties of such assemblies of particles. The particles are assumed to be point dipoles, which interact magnetostatically and have uniaxial anisotropy. Spatial distributions of the particles are either generated numerically or are taken from experimental data sets. The properties, such as the remnant magnetization, are studied as a function of temperature for a wide range of parameters. The role of magnetostatic interaction is found to be important in many cases where it has typically been neglected. For example, we find that for a thin film of iron particles with 3.5 nm average diameter and only 13% area coverage, the magnetostatic interactions raise the blocking temperature by 20%, and the particles do not have Stoner–Wolfarth character.

Abstract:In order to theoretically study on the magnetic coupling interaction in the Mn–Mn dimer, quantum chemical calculations on the equilibrium Mn–Mn distance Re, total energy ET, binding energies Be and exchange interaction energies E(S) under different spin multiplets were performed at CASPT2 level of theory. It is found that the calculated Re, ET, and Be values are correlated with the spin multiplet, and with increasing the total spin S, Re increases, but ET and Be exhibit a decrease trend. The exchange interaction energies E(S) deviate significantly from the `Lande interval rule'. This unusual magnetic phenomenon is primarily attributed to the biquadratic j(Sa·Sb)2 term contribution in spin Hamiltonian for the Mn–Mn dimer.

Abstract:A concise operator form of the Fokker-Planck equation agreeing with that proposed by Weizenecker [Phys. Med. Biol. 63, 035004 (2018)10.1088/1361-6560/aaa186] for the joint orientational distribution of the coupled physical and magnetodynamic rotational diffusion of a single-domain ferromagnetic nanoparticle suspended in a liquid is written from the postulated Langevin equations for the stochastic dynamics. Series expansion of its solution in a complete set yields, using the theory of angular momentum, differential-recurrence equations for statistical moments for coupled motion with uniaxial symmetry of the internal anisotropy-Zeeman energy of a nanoparticle. The numerical results via the matrix iteration method suggest that the susceptibility is adequately approximated by a single Lorentzian with peak frequency given by the inverse integral relaxation time and are discussed in relation to those of the well-known "egg model".

Abstract:The equilibrium configurations of films consisting of magnetic small particles in which the anisotropy energy tends to align the magnetic moments perpendicular to the film are studied by Monte Carlo simulations. The effects of anisotropy energy, dipolar interaction, and Zeeman energy due to an external applied magnetic field, which can either be perpendicular or parallel to the film, are considered. As the relative strength of the relevant interaction energies changes, the system exhibits a variety of different magnetic moment configurations. Due to the competition between the dipolar interaction energy and the anisotropy energy, it is found that an approximately antiferromagnetic alignment with moments oriented perpendicular to the film results when the anisotropy energy dominates; while an in-plane antiferromagnetic alignment results when the dipolar interaction energy dominates. Results obtained by a zero-temperature analysis based on energy minimization are found to be in qualitative agreement with results obtained by numerical simulations.

Other objections of Perk's Comment <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0811.1802v2" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0811.1802v2">arXiv:0811.1802v2</a> are the same as those in Wu et al's Comments <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0811.3876" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0811.3876">arXiv:0811.3876</a> and <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0812.2837" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0812.2837">arXiv:0812.2837</a>, which do not stand on solid ground and have been rejected in the previous Response <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0812.2330" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0812.2330">arXiv:0812.2330</a>. The conjectured solution can be utilized to understand critical phenomena in various systems, while the conjectures are open to prove rigorously. Part II: This is a Reply to Perk's Rejoinder <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0901.2935" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0901.2935">arXiv:0901.2935</a>. It is shown that the basis of the objections in Perk's Rejoinder, with respect to singularities at/near infinite temperature, is based on an error that mixes the concepts of T approaching infinite and T = infinite. It is shown that the reduced free energy per site f can be used only for finite temperatures (beta > 0), not for 'exactly' infinite temperature (beta = 0). At the thermodynamic limit N approaches infinite, besides infinite-temperature zeros of Z at z = -1 for H = +/- i infinite in the limit of beta approaching zero, there exists another singularity at z = 1 for the partition function, which is usually concealed in literature by setting Z to the power of 1/N and dividing the total free energy F by N (equally, disregarding the singularity of zeros of 1/Z. The objections in Perk's Rejoinder are thoroughly disproved.

Abstract:In the comment by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://T.Dauxois" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> et al.,(<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="cond-mat/0605445" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/cond-mat/0605445">cond-mat/0605445</a>), the authors question our application of the nonextensive statistical mechanics proposed by Tsallis, to explain the anomalous dynamics of the Hamiltonian Mean Field (HMF) model. More specifically they claim that the explanation of the metastability found in the out-of-equilibrium dynamics is only a fitting procedure and is also in contrast with a previous application. This criticism mostly relies on recent studies based on the Vlasov approach, where the authors claim to explain the anomalous behaviour of the HMF model in terms of a standard formalism. In order to reply to this comment we want to stress a few numerical facts and conclude with some final considerations. A recent paper by P-H. Chavanis (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="cond-mat/0604234" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/cond-mat/0604234">cond-mat/0604234</a>) is also important to clarify the question here debated.

Dipolar Attraction of Superparamagnetic Nanoparticles

Abstract:For superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SMNPs), it is often claimed that the rapid thermal fluctuations of their magnetic moments negates the magnetic dipolar attraction, hence preventing aggregation in liquid suspension. However we find that this is a misconception. Using Langevin dynamics, we simulate SMNP pairs and the dimer clusters they form which is the simplest case of aggregation. To quantify the tendency to aggregate, we introduce the dimer debonding time and calculate the average magnetic force of attraction which results from correlations in the fluctuating moments. Neither quantity has any dependence on the magnetocrystalline anisotropy, which determines the rate of superparamagnetic reversals, and comparing with computed Néel relaxation times we show that this holds for both blocked and superparamagnetic particles. These results imply that the phenomenon of superparamagnetism does not affect aggregation. Because the key dimensionless parameter for the Néel relaxation of a lone SMNP and the one for magnetic attraction have the same size and temperature scaling, there is a strong correlation between superparamagnetism and colloidal stability, as observed experimentally, but no causal relation.

Abstract:A Mn4 single-molecule magnet (SMM), with a well isolated spin ground state of S = 9/2, is used as a model system to study Landau-Zener (LZ) tunneling in the presence of weak intermolecular dipolar and exchange interactions. The anisotropy constants D and B are measured with minor hysteresis loops. A transverse field is used to tune the tunnel splitting over a large range. Using the LZ and inverse LZ method, it is shown that these interactions play an important role in the tunnel rates. Three regions are identified: (i) at small transverse fields, tunneling is dominated by single tunnel transitions; (ii) at intermediate transverse fields, the measured tunnel rates are governed by reshuffling of internal fields, (iii) at larger transverse fields, the magnetization reversal starts to be influenced by the direct relaxation process, and many-body tunnel events may occur. The hole digging method is used to study the next-nearest neighbor interactions. At small external fields, it is shown that magnetic ordering occurs which does not quench tunneling. An applied transverse field can increase the ordering rate. Spin-spin cross-relaxations, mediated by dipolar and weak exchange interactions, are proposed to explain additional quantum steps.

Abstract:Three-dimensional topological textures have become a topic of intense interest in recent years. Through analytical calculations, this work determines the magnetostatic field produced by a Bloch Point (BP) singularity confined in a magnetic nanosphere. It is observed that BPs hosted in a nanosphere generate magnetic fields with quadrupolar nature. This finding is interesting because it shows the possibility of obtaining quadrupole magnetic fields with just one magnetic particle, unlike other propositions considering arrays of magnetic elements to generate this kind of field. The obtained magnetostatic field allows us to determine the interaction between two BPs as a function of the relative orientation of their polarities and the distance between them. It is shown that depending on the rotation of one BP related to the other, the magnetostatic interaction varies in strength and character, being attractive or repulsive. The obtained results reveal that the BP interaction has a complex behavior beyond topological charge-mediated interaction.

The energy level structure of the modified Schrodinger equation can be consistent with Lamb shift

Abstract:In the literature of calculating atomic and molecular structures, most Schrodinger equations are described by Coulomb potential. However, there are also a few literatures that discuss some magnetic correction methods, such as Pauli and Shortley's early work. But in fact, the calculation accuracy of these Schrodinger equations is not consistent with Lamb shift. Therefore, in the traditional ab initio calculation of quantum mechanics, it is common and necessary to use Dirac theory or quantum electrodynamics (QED) to correct the energy level of Schrodinger equation. However, the calculation of Feynman diagram is a daunting problem, including the application of self-consistent field in relativity and density functional theory. So recently, we have noticed the simplicity of the modified Newtonian mechanics, and we think that quantum mechanics will have similar properties. Here, we state this and improve the correction function in our previous action potential. In addition, through the demonstration of hydrogen-like and helium-like systems here, it can be proved that this conclusion is a potential application, that is, the energy level structure of our modified Schrodinger equation is consistent with Lamb shift.

Abstract:A Monte-Carlo simulation of electron transport in a phase separated spin system in terms of itinerant electron tunneling between neighboring magnetic polarons is performed. The spin system is supposed to be a mixture of ferromagnetic metallic clusters embedded into the matrix of antiferromagnetic insulating phase. The simulation is based on a simple model on magnetic polarons in double exchange system. The co-occurrence of insulating-metallic transition and ferromagnetic transition with decreasing temperature is observed and a giant magnetoresistance around the transition is demonstrated. The present model presents a simple approach to the electron transport in phase-separated spin systems with itinerant electron conduction, such as manganites. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Abstract:The effects of dipolar interaction in an array of small magnetic dots with perpendicular anisotropy are studied numerically within the framework of the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. In the absence of a magnetic field, three typical configurations of the magnetic moments are found, depending on the dipolar coupling strength. Magnetization processes both parallel and perpendicular to the array are studied. The hysteresis loops are found to be highly sensitive to the dipolar coupling strength. The in-plane hysteresis loops are dominated by the strong dipolar interaction between particles, while the out-of-plane hysteresis loops are dominated by the perpendicular anisotropy. The coercive field, saturation field, and remanence are also sensitive to the strength of dipolar interaction. Dipole interactions also affect the characteristic switching time in a coupled array. Depending on the packing density of the dots in an array, the switching time may be shortened or lengthened. (c) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
