Abstract:There exists huge differences in climatic conditions and occupant energy-consuming behavior between Berlin and the "hot summer and cold winter zone of China" (HSCW), which implies that the building energy consumption compositions of two regions are completely different. In this paper, dynamic energy consumption simulation for passive houses with Design Builder software was performed. The results indicated that the improvement of building airtightness and exterior wall insulation can reduce annual heating and cooling load effectively, and more importantly the effect is much stronger on heating load than cooling load. Because of this, the paper proposed that the ratio of heating and cooling electricity consumption (r) should be adopted as an important index in energy efficiency evaluation of passive houses. It would contribute to the reasonable selection of ventilation modes and the exterior wall heat transfer coefficient, and benefit the healthy development of passive houses in HSCW.

Abstract:This project is about the central air-conditioning engineering of Tian Yuan Hotel,which is located in Changsha city.As the gross floors area is about(10 766.8 m~2),and the air conditioning area is about 9 228.14 m~2,and the cold load is 593 kW,we choose 2 direct burning LiBr absorption refrigeration machines: the models BZ40VⅢ and(BZ65VⅢ),with their maximal load supply,280 kW and 390 kW respectively when refrigerating.The conditioning system is divided into two different systems according to its function.The first one is for the high and big buildings such as restaurants and supermarkets;the second is for the other little rooms such as offices,bedrooms,KTV rooms.The first system adopts the complete air system,where the air-conditioning equipment deals with the supply air and the return air.The second system adopts the FCU+PAU system,where FCU system deals with the supply and the return air.The halls and the rooms which can permeate air out use natural ventilation.And almost all rooms' returning air is through the floor.The design adopts the same system to exhaust air and smoke,choosing the dual wind velocity fans,while ordinarily,it only exhausts air when the fire disaster happens.

Abstract:The conditioning system is divided into three different systems according to its function.The first one is the high and big room such as restaurant,and the second one is the meeting room,and the third is the other little rooms such as office,bedroom,KTV room and so on.The first system adopts the complete air system.The air-conditioning equipment deals with the supply and the air return.The second system uses the PAU+ AHU system,AHU system deals with the returning air,and PAU system deals with the fresh air.The third system adopts the PAU+FCU system,FCU system deals with the returning air.Natural ventilation is used in the hall and the rooms which can prevate air out.And almost all rooms' returning air is through the floor.The design adopts the same system to exhaust air and smoke,and the dualwind velocity fans are chosen.Ordinarily,it only exhaust air,it does not exhaust smoke unless the fire disaster happened.

Abstract:New technologies of air conditioning, such as ground-source heat pump, radiant cooling & heating and displacement ventilation, are widely used in Europe due to its advantages of energy saving, friendly environment and good comfort. Liquid desiccant air conditioning system with independent humidity control has gradually got popularized in China. In this paper, a hybrid air conditioning system integrated with all these new technologies was constructed. Principles and characteristics on each component were discussed in details and main points of engineering design were described. Moreover, the feature of energy consumption and thermal comfort of the hybrid system were analyzed. This hybrid air conditioning system, in which treatment and control of air temperature and moisture are done independently, with high quality and low energy consumption, accords with sustainable development completely and is suitable for buildings in which high performance about thermal comfort and energy consumption is demanded, especially for residential buildings.

Abstract:The primary mission of this design is the air conditioning design of a hotel in Guangzhou city. The calculation of cooling load & heat load, division of the air conditioning system and the determination of the scheme, the design of the duct and water system, and the design of the smoke prevention and extraction system are all included. According to the related standard and considering the energy saving and comfort requirements, the air conditioning system are determined through the economic and technological comparison. Primary return air system is used for open office area and dining hall; fan-coil units with fresh air system is adopted for the guest rooms of the hotel; and the VRV system is adopted for the large conference room. The new air in restaurant rooms and the large conference room is handled by full-heat type fresh air exchanger; new air in guest room is handled by air conditioning units.

Abstract:To create a comfortable indoor environment is the main development direction of the current architecture based on energy conservation, which has aroused a great interest in passive design strategies of traditional vernacular dwellings. This study conducted a field measurement in a typical traditional vernacular dwelling in Huizhou to investigate the building performance. On the basis of the monitored indoor and outdoor environment parameters by auto-recorders, one-year evaluation is obtained in terms of four aspects, i.e. thermal environment, visual environment, acoustic environment and thermal comfort. Results show that the dwelling has a good indoor environment and thermal comfort in spring and autumn. The indoor thermal comfort is also good during summer due to good natural ventilation and sun shading. However, the indoor thermal comfort is not fully satisfactory during winter due to the poor air tightness, and the indoor relative humidity is relative high all the year round. The acoustic environment is found to comply with relevant standards for all the rooms. The daylight of living room and bedroom is mainly depending on the patio, which leads to insufficient visual environment as required for some time. © 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:The outdoor low temperature fresh air can be used as a free cold source to eliminate waste heat for the building interior zones during the transition season and winter. This paper takes a project in Hunan as an example, and the project building interior zones is 25m×7m×3.9m(L×W×H). Using Fluent software to simulate the temperature field and velocity field both the interior and exterior zones of the engineering offices. The simulation results show that using the displacement ventilation system to take the outdoor air into inner rooms not only cooling but also improving the air quality and adding comfort. According to the simulation results and outdoor air dry bulb temperature and enthalpy values, the h - d diagram is divided into three air conditioning conditions (summer, winter, transition season), and three different operation adjustment methods have been proposed corresponding to each air conditioning condition, which will reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning system.
The Chinese Evaluation Standard for the Indoor Thermal Environment in Free-running Buildings

Abstract:Designing for indoor thermal environmental conditions is one of the key elements in the energy efficient building design process. This paper overviews the investigation of thermal comfort conditions in China and relevant energy efficiency issues. A development of the Chinese evaluation standard for indoor thermal environments based on intensive field and laboratory studies has been introduced. Over 20,000 subjects participated in the field study for the different climate zones in China and over 500 subjects have been involved in laboratory studies. International standards such as the ASHRAE55, ISO7730, DIN EN Standards have been reviewed. The research findings reveal that there is a need for updating the Chinese thermal comfort standard based on local climates and people’s habitats. This paper introduces in detail the requirements for the thermal environment for heated and cooled buildings and free-running buildings for different climate zones in China.

Abstract:In order to study the characteristics of thermal environment and comfort of residential buildings during winter in hot summer and cold winter (HSCW) climate zone of China, this study conducted a questionnaire survey and field test. It was found that 70.9% of residential buildings in HSCW climate zone had space heating equipment, among that the percentage of air conditioning, electric equipment (electric oil-filled radiator and fan heater) and other were 56.0%, 27.6% and 16.4%, respectively. Furthermore, 77.3% (48.7%) of residents only heat their bedrooms (living rooms), and 76.5% of residents heat their rooms only in cold weather, which shows the "part-space" and "part-time" space heating characteristics in HSCW climate zone. For rooms with space heating, the thermal environment is category I in general, but more than 30% of these residents hope a higher indoor temperature. For rooms without space heating, the indoor temperature is below the hygiene limit of 12°C, which belongs to category II, but thermal feeling for 55% of residents is cold and 90.9% of residents hope a warmer indoor environment. The results indicated that the existing evaluation criteria in HSCW climate zone are inconsistent with the thermal sensation and expectation, and an advanced evaluation criterion is needed.

Abstract:With the sustained and steady growth of China’s economy, HVAC technology is becoming more and more advanced. BIM technology is used in ventilation and air conditioning design, which changes the limitations of traditional design. In the new period, it improves the construction efficiency and quality of HVAC engineering and optimizes the air conditioning performance. This paper mainly analyzes the application of BIM technology in HVAC design, and introduces the application of BIM technology in HVAC design in detail by introducing the characteristics of BIM technology. Keywords: BIM technology HVAC technology application Introduction: With the continuous development of information technology, HVAC design technology has also made continuous progress. In recent years, BIM technology has been used in HVAC design and played an important role. With the progress of the times and the development of science and technology, HVAC has appeared in people’s lives more frequently. The combination of BIM technology and HVAC design of air conditioning is conducive to promoting the connection between different professional fields in HVAC design and further improving HVAC design. Therefore, in order to give full play to the advantages of BIM technology in HVAC design, relevant departments and staff should strengthen the application research of BIM technology. However, there are many problems in the application of BIM technology, and the phenomenon of energy waste is serious, which is not conducive to China’s economic development. At present, the design of BIM technology in HVAC system must analyze the actual situation, pay attention to resource conservation and reduce environmental pollution.

Abstract:A long term field study was conducted in an office building in Guangzhou, which is located in the Hot Summer and Warm Winter climate zone of China. The study covered three seasons - summer, autumn, and winter. Physical environmental parameters were continuously recorded, while office workers filled in thermal comfort related questionnaires once a week. In summer, cooling was provided to the investigated rooms with relatively high setting temperatures. The neutral temperature of occupants was 26.8 degrees C, and the upper limit of the acceptable temperature range was 30.4 degrees C. Unless the indoor temperature was higher than 29 degrees C, more than 90% of people could accept the thermal conditions, which proved the adaptation to warm environment of local people. At a same outdoor temperature level, higher indoor temperature resulted in less energy consumption through air conditioning system in summer. Thus, the temperature of air-conditioning in office buildings in hot climates could be set to a higher level than it usually was, so that air conditioning energy could be saved while occupants' comfort won't be sacrificed. In autumn and winter, no heating or cooling was provided to the investigated rooms, and the occupants' neutral temperatures in the two seasons were 25.8 degrees C and 23.3 degrees C respectively. Compared to the PMV/PPD based evaluation method in ASHRAE 55 standard, the adaptive thermal comfort model based method fits better with the occupants' subjective thermal acceptance.
