Science: the Tension Between Subjectivity and Objectivity——Gramsci's Criticism to Bukharin and Its Significance

Abstract:Gramsci with the historically dialectic perspective understood the nature,natural science and scientific experiments,emphasizing the intervention on natural during practice of human activities.It is the drive to make the natural sciences have meaning,but at the expense of losing the cornerstones of Marxism,namely,materialism.On the contrary,Bukharin insisted on the materialist theory of reflection,emphasizing cognition of people is the mirror to the nature through practice and stressing the importance of the natural sciences,the universality of the scientific method,but went to the other extreme,that is,abandoning the Marxist dialectics.The key problem is that both of them failed to handle well the relationship between dialectics and materialism.Such opposition played an enlightening role to the development of contemporary science studies.
