Abstract:As an international standard of data exchange over the Web,XML has penetrated virtually all fields of Internet application.How to transform XML document with relational database is an important(research) topic.In this paper,transformation between XML document and relational database by XML DTD(technology) was analyzed,the differences between XML DTD and XML scheme were compared,and the mapping method from XML schema to database schema was proposed.With analyzing the method of mapping XML Schema to Object Schemas and Object Schema to Database Schemas.We can obtain the method of mapping XML Schema to Database Schemas directly.The mapping approach of large grained(data) and(Data-centric) Document to relational databases has be especially emphasized.The new method can effectively enhance the transformation efficiency between XML and relational database.

Abstract:The data-characteristic leads to a close relationship between XML and databases.The method of describing the structure of relation database using XML is studied in this paper. XSL is used to transform XML, which describes the abstract structure of databases, into SQL . SQL is supported by a certain database and used to generate physical tables. Experiments show the validity of this method.

Abstract:XML is the standard format for cross-platform data release and exchange in Internet and is widely applied in the database field. However,the tree structure of XML document differs from the table structure of relational database greatly,so some special disposals are needed when storing XML documents into the relational database. The way of storage and management of XML documents in the relational database are analyzed in this paper,and the applications of Oracle9i correlative techniques of XML in distance education are discussed also. For two types document datum (data-centric and document-centric),feasible storage schemes are analyzed and given.

Abstract:Data exchange between XML and SQL Server 2000 is realized using the stored procedure.The data in nested XML document is inserted into database,and then the data in database is selected and saved in XML document using C# program.The process not only keeps the correctness of data but keeps the pattern of XML document.Using stored procedure can reduce greatly the scale of the program and the operation on database.

Abstract:While XML is emerging as the universal format for publishing and exchanging data on the Web, most business data is still stored and maintained in relational database management systems. As a result, there is an increasing need to efficiently publish relational data as XML documents for Internet-based applications. One way to publish relational data is to provide virtual XML documents for relational data via an XML schema which is transformed from the underlying relational database schema, then users can access the relational database through the XML schema. In this paper, we discuss issues in transforming a. relational database schema into corresponding schema in XML Schema. We aim to achieve high level of nesting while introducing no data redundancy for the transformed XML schema. In the paper, we first propose a basic transformation algorithm which introduces no data redundancy, then we improve the algorithm by exploring further nesting of the transformed XML schema.

Abstract:Existing XQuery-to-SQL algorithms all. depend on special XML-to-RDB schema-mapping algorithm, but in the real applications, an independent method is needed because people can't ensure that the two translating come from the same industry projects and conflicts can't be avoided. Aiming at this problem, we propose an XQuery-to-SQL translating algorithm with little dependence on any schema-mapping algorithm between XML and RDB by setting up a General Virtual Relational Schema for XML Document (GVRS for short), which can be used as the bridge between XAE view and its bottom relational storage. Our method separates XQuery-to-SQL algorithm from schema mapping between XML and RDB, so the conflicts can be avoided successfully.

Abstract:In this paper, the features of XML schemata are studied, and several algorithms and their problems on the transformation from the XML schemata to the relational schemata are analyzed. Then the algorithm XTR is presented, and the method to preserve semantic constraints is discussed. The results of the algorithm XTR are better than those of the algorithms analyzed according to the normal form, and the many-to-many relation can be translated in the algorithm XTR.

Abstract:Nowadays, swirling around most businesses is not structure information but semi-structure information, such as spreadsheets, and documents created by an individual or company. To fully manage and use semi-structure information as structure information does, we propose a technology based on the bi-directional integration between XML and RDB in a three-tiered structure. Through undertaking research at the intersection of XML and RDB, the technology expects to represent and use semi-structure information based on XML, and manage semi-structure information using RDB. Bi-directional means that we transform semi-structure data represented by XML into RDB and oppositely publishing RDB data into corresponding XML format based on schema mapping between XML and RDB, which is the first tier named static transformation tier in the three-tired structure. On the basis of static transformation tier, we transform semi-structure data query, i.e. query on XML from user interface into SQL on the corresponding bottom RDB and return back the result data in XML format, which is the second tier named dynamic query tier. At last, synchronous updating for the virtual XML and bottom RDB is carried out as the third tier named synchronous updating tier. All the three tiers' integration is realized through the middleware, which is also offered in this paper

Abstract:As an increasing amount of XML-based applications appears today, reliable and efficient XML storage system and data exchange between XML and DBMS are becoming more and more important. The method of schema-driven mapping between XML and RDBMS is discussed and its basic principles and examples are given. The design and implementation of a schema-driven data exchange system are analyzed and implemented that is platform-independent and supports multiple schemas and modes of conversion. The test result of the prototype of the system shows that the theory and design of this system is feasible and effective.

Abstract:Representing the sharing and exchanging data with machine-readable format allows cooperative task automation. In this paper we propose an XML schema and semantic based relational data translation approach, which aims at providing a coherent and meaningful view of the relational data and enabling distributed users to cooperate on large data volumes online. We define a directed-graph data model as the common data model, present a key-based relational schema reverse reconstruction arithmetic to capture the full structures and semantic constraints in relational schema, and propose a constraints-preserving mapping algorithm to translate relational data into the global XML representations.

However, in spite of success of data management of structure data by using databases, current enterprise information infrastructure is poorly suited for dealing with the continuing, rapid explosion of semi-structure data in enterprise. In this paper we discuss a system based on the integration between XML and RDB in a three- tiered framework, which undertakes research at the intersection of XML and RDB, exploits their strengths in a common framework, and expands their applicability in the area of semi-structure data management. Through a discussion of the fundamental architecture in general and its components in particular, we depict the basic principles that should form the basis for the design of the architecture based on the integration of XML and RDB. The key contribution of this paper is the framework for semi-structure data management, which is orchestrated through the transformation of representation, query and updating between XML data and RDB data.

Abstract:XML is an important standard of data exchange and representation. XML database also becomes important as web database. As a mature database system, using relational database to support XML data may bring some advantages. In this paper, based on a relational storage structure support XPath query effectively, an optimized query translation strategy is presented as well as optimization techniques. This method converts XQuery to variable forest. Optimization operations are applied on the variable forest. The optimization is based on the semantics of XML document such as schema of original XML document. The VF can be converted to SQL easily. This method translates XQuery to a set of SQL statements and generates final result through the result of them. Our method adapts to the XML database with relational storage supporting effective query process to XML documents with various schemas and size.
