Abstract:XML has established itself as the standard for representing data and the standard for transmitting data on the Internet.To make up XML's deficiency in storage,at present,it's necessary to do research on XML storage technology based on relational databases.This paper firstly introduces several methods on set-up database schema,then presents an improved method by an XML-RDB example.It is compact in structure,has higher SQL inquire effectiveness according to RDB which is built by the improved method.The method resolved the key problems in the relational storage.

Abstract:As an international standard of data exchange over the Web,XML has penetrated virtually all fields of Internet application.How to transform XML document with relational database is an important(research) topic.In this paper,transformation between XML document and relational database by XML DTD(technology) was analyzed,the differences between XML DTD and XML scheme were compared,and the mapping method from XML schema to database schema was proposed.With analyzing the method of mapping XML Schema to Object Schemas and Object Schema to Database Schemas.We can obtain the method of mapping XML Schema to Database Schemas directly.The mapping approach of large grained(data) and(Data-centric) Document to relational databases has be especially emphasized.The new method can effectively enhance the transformation efficiency between XML and relational database.

Abstract:As an increasing amount of XML-based applications appears today, reliable and efficient XML storage system and data exchange between XML and DBMS are becoming more and more important. The method of schema-driven mapping between XML and RDBMS is discussed and its basic principles and examples are given. The design and implementation of a schema-driven data exchange system are analyzed and implemented that is platform-independent and supports multiple schemas and modes of conversion. The test result of the prototype of the system shows that the theory and design of this system is feasible and effective.

Abstract:XML is fast emerging as the dominant standard for representing data in Internet. One efficient path to store it is transforming XML data into relational database. Exiting XML-to-RDB algorithms focus only on the structure and ignore semantic constrains, in addition, their inputting is not XML-Schema but DTD. In this paper, we present an algorithm for mapping XML-Schema to relational schema. Our main ideas are as follows: 1) On the basis of regular tree grammar, propose a concise and precise formalization representing method named FD-XML for XML-Schema; 2) Extend the traditional ER model to Extended ER model (EER); 3) Map FD-XML to EER and then EER to relational schema. With the above procedures, the mapping algorithm comes into being, where both correct data structure and integrated data constrains are translated.

Abstract:Increasing amount of commercial data is presented in XML format for exchanging or publishing on the web. It is emerging as a new standard for information representation and exchanging over the Internet. How to retrieve valuable information from XML documents on the web is a new challenge to data mining research. Compared with relational database, XML data in documents is stored as file with tree logical structure inside, it results in lower efficiency and performance in directly querying data. So it is still necessary to transform data into database (warehouse) for data mining afterwards. In this paper, we present a scheme to analyze relation of elements in XML on the web, and construct relational database schema based on the analysis. During the process, there would be a worthy accessory product - a glossary, which can facilitate the process of data mining warehouse designing and building. © 2006 IEEE.

Abstract:As a standard for data exchanging in the network,XML data is increasing in highly speed.It becomes very eagerly to manage the XML data via RDBMS.In this paper,a middleware implement framework of XML data management is proposed,with utilizing some special mapping methods,parsing the schema files,and then producing the corresponding relational schemas to store and manage XML data in a RDBMS.Users can operate the XML data by XML operations without awaring of anything about the RDBMS.This framework is easy to be extended in the future because of its flexible structure.

Abstract:Information imprecision and uncertainty exist in many real-world applications and for this reason fuzzy data modeling has been extensively investigated in various data models.Currently,huge amounts of electronic data are available on the Internet,and XML has been the de-facto standard of information representation and exchange over the Web.Current efforts fall short in their ability to satisfy the requirement of intelligent management over XML data.Therefore,beginning with an investigation of data modeling,the authors identify multiple granularity of data fuzziness in XML and fuzzy XML data model based on the theory of fuzzy set and possibility distributions.The authors further investigate the formal conversions from the fuzzy relational databases to the fuzzy XML model,which is established by introducing a series of mapping rules,and demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach by using a practical case.The conversions from the fuzzy relational databases to the fuzzy XML model lay a theoretical foundation for establishing the overall management system of fuzzy XML data.

Abstract:The data-characteristic leads to a close relationship between XML and databases.The method of describing the structure of relation database using XML is studied in this paper. XSL is used to transform XML, which describes the abstract structure of databases, into SQL . SQL is supported by a certain database and used to generate physical tables. Experiments show the validity of this method.

Abstract:It is very meaningful to store the XML document in relational database because of index、storage and query of relational database are well-developed.But many complicated problems appear in the process of storage because of the unmatching between the complicated hierarchical structure of XML document and the flat structure of relational database.Beginning from the background applied above,this paper addresses a general relational schema based on model mapping and Nested Sets Model which is called General Relational XML Model.After analyzing of the validity and performance of the system in various scenes,we can draw the conclusion that the middleware can implements efficient storage for XML document in relational schema and satisfy the querying request.

Abstract:XML has emerged as the standard for representing and exchanging data on the World Wide Web. It is critical to have efficient mechanisms to store and query XML data to exploit the full power of this new technology. Several researchers have proposed to use relational databases to store and query XML data. While several algorithms of schema mapping and query mapping have been proposed, the problem of mapping XML data to relational data, i.e., mapping an XML INSERT statement to a sequence of SQL INSERT statements, has not been addressed thoroughly in the literature. In this paper, we propose an efficient linear algorithm for mapping XML data to relational data. This algorithm is based on our previous proposed inlining algorithm for mapping DTDs to relational schemas and can be easily adapted to other inlining algorithms.

Abstract:Representing the sharing and exchanging data with machine-readable format allows cooperative task automation. In this paper we propose an XML schema and semantic based relational data translation approach, which aims at providing a coherent and meaningful view of the relational data and enabling distributed users to cooperate on large data volumes online. We define a directed-graph data model as the common data model, present a key-based relational schema reverse reconstruction arithmetic to capture the full structures and semantic constraints in relational schema, and propose a constraints-preserving mapping algorithm to translate relational data into the global XML representations.

Abstract:In recent years, XML technology has won wide attention from both industry and academic. It can be used to mark data, define the data type and their own markup language. It is a cross-platform, context-dependent technology in the Internet environment and an effective tool for todays distributed structure information. The S-XML is a new approach for storing semi-structured data, and it supports query of the node in XML with SQL statements, which has shown impressive performance on many classic data sets. However, it is difficult to store XML data into a relational database, and the S-XML spends much more time and space to store the data. In this paper, we propose an efficient mapping approach, the mini-XML, to mapping XML into the relational database. In addition, path technique and position information are used to indicate the complex node relationship. Finally, two experiments are conducted to prove that the proposed method can achieve better performance in the decreasing of the storage time and storage space, especially dealing with the large amount of data.

Abstract:XML has been the de-facto standard of information representation and exchange over the web. In addition, imprecise and uncertain data are inherent in the real world. Although fuzzy information has been extensively investigated in the context of relational model, the classical relational database model and its fuzzy extension to date do not satisfy the need of modeling complex Objects with imprecision and uncertainty, especially when the fuzzy relational databases are created by mapping the fuzzy conceptual data models and the fuzzy XML data model. Based on possibility distributions, this chapter concentrates on fuzzy information modeling in the fuzzy XML model and the fuzzy nested relational database model, In particular, the formal approach to mapping a fuzzy DTD model to a fuzzy nested relational database (FNRDB) schema is developed.

Abstract:This paper gives a scheme for decomposing and storing XML in relational databases. First, through the analysis of XML syntax, we define the XML tree: all of its nodes have the same format. The XML tree helps to map an irregular XML document to a regular XML tree. Second, we define the relation XSR to store an XML tree to RDB. Data integrity is guaranteed, and in the mapping process, an XML document will be mapped to just one table other than multiple ones. This scheme is a common scheme. It can be used to process any XML document.

Abstract:While XML is emerging as the universal format for publishing and exchanging data on the Web, most business data is still stored and maintained in relational database management systems. As a result, there is an increasing need to efficiently publish relational data as XML documents for Internet-based applications. One way to publish relational data is to provide virtual XML documents for relational data via an XML schema which is transformed from the underlying relational database schema, then users can access the relational database through the XML schema. In this paper, we discuss issues in transforming a. relational database schema into corresponding schema in XML Schema. We aim to achieve high level of nesting while introducing no data redundancy for the transformed XML schema. In the paper, we first propose a basic transformation algorithm which introduces no data redundancy, then we improve the algorithm by exploring further nesting of the transformed XML schema.

Abstract:XML is rapidly emerging as the dominant standard for exchanging data on the WWW. Most of application data are stored in relational databases due to its popularity and rich development experiences over it. Therefore, how to provide a proper mapping approach from relational data to XML documents becomes an important topic. Referential integrity constraints are useful for semantic specification that plays the important roles in relation schema definition. So far, there are about a dozen of XML schema languages have been proposed. Although most languages are based on DTD, they have different grammar resulting in the XML world more complicated. In this paper, we investigate referential integrity constraints for XML. An extended DTD with several kinds of constraints-DTD C is proposed, and a corresponding equivalent mapping approach, ICMAP is presented. Finally, the comparison on the respect of constraint representation capability is performed, which proves that ICMAP is more effective than other known approaches.
