Abstract:In this paper, a series of waterborne acrylic-modified epoxy hybrid dispersions were synthesized and successfully used as primers for coil coatings. Epoxy was phosphated to improve its adhesion to the metal substrate. The grafting reaction of acrylate monomers onto the high molecular weight epoxy resins was studied with infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and nuclear magnetic resonance. The structure and resin molecules were found to be as expected and the film had the best performance when the acrylate monomer made up less than 40 wt% of the epoxy resin. Modification of the epoxy with phosphoric acid could increase the adhesion to the metal substrate. Better adhesion was achieved with greater amounts of phosphoric acid. R578 urea resin was found to be the most suitable for crosslinking of the resin in this system, and a paint film based on the resulting resin had excellent overall performance.

Abstract:A series of waterborne acrylic resins were synthesized by using E10p(glycidylester of versatic acid),acrylic monomers,and applied to coil coatings.It was of benefit to the resin stability and film performance,when E10p was charged into the system with the mixed monomers togeter.It was found that E10p dosage would affect the performances of the resin and film.The Mnand Mwdecreased with the increase of the dosage of E10p.Because of the umbrella-shaped structure of E10p,the hydrophobicity of the film could be improved with the increase of E10p amount,thus enhancing the resistance to acid,alkali and artificial aging.

Abstract:Hyperbranch resin was synthesized based upon hyperbranched polymer and aliphatic and /or aromatic acids.Its structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and GPC and its application in polyurethane matt topcoats was investigated.It was showed that the properties of matt topcoating film of hyperbranched polyester was better than that of film with commercial resinous polyols in impact resistance and transparency,but its extinction was worse.But partial replacement of commercial resinous polyols with hyperbranched polyester could result in market improvement in transparency and impact resistance of matt topcoating.

Abstract:This paper introduces the preparation of hyper-branched fluorocarbon alkyd resin,with pentaerythritol,dimethylol propionic acid,oleic acid and perflurooctanoic acid as raw materials.IR,TG,AFM and chemical titration are used to characterize and analyze the product.With amino resin 747 as curing agent and through 20min baking under 150,the product is to give the baking varnish.The film of the varnish is smooth,glossy and hydrophobic and of good integrated property.

Abstract:The progress of research on the preparation of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) coatings is systematically described with emphasis on the three coating preparation methods of thermal spraying, electrophoretic deposition, and melt extrusion coating, and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and their main applications are reviewed. At the same time, research into the modification of PEEK coatings is also introduced, including modification using inorganic materials and chemical modification. Finally, the application of PEEK coatings is introduced, and its future development directions are prospected.

Synthesis of a Novel High Solid Coating Used in Automobile

Abstract:High solid coating is one of the most important environmental friendly coatings, and has been obtained great attention since 70s' last century. For there are high volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in the conventional coatings, which cause both a serious pollution and consume of a plentiful of natural resource, such as petroleum. The development and production of high solid coatings is pressing target for all the countries, especially for China due to our heavy population and short of resources. Based on the requirement, a novel coating with high solid content has been developed in our lab. The solid content of the resin is 80%, compared to the 55% of conversional resin. This coating is characterized by its unique molecular architecture, it is a kind of hyper-branched polymer with uniform distribution of the reactive groups along the molecular backbone, which can react with other chemicals to form a cross-linking structure at high temperature.The coating has a lower viscosity and lower Tg corresponding to its branched structure( scheme 1).This coating has been applied in the automobile finishing. The experimental results indicated that the developed coating presented high performance properties in fastness, mar resistance, and hardness, it also reduced the baking temperature, resulting in a energy saving.

Abstract:With the development of technology, there is an increasing interest and demand for high-performance polymers in the coating field. Polyimide polymers, the materials at the top of the polymer pyramid, should play a certain role in the coating field. Polyimide polymer coatings, often used as thermal protection layer, waterproof and moisture resistant layer, radiation resistant layer and other isolation layers due to their special structure, are widely used in aerospace, electronics, machinery manufacturing, construction and other industries. In this paper, the synthesis method of polyimide polymers（PI, PAI, PEI） was introduced. And the research and development of high performance polymers（PI, PAI, PEI） in coatings in recent years were emphatically described. Finally, the problems and challenges faced by the high performance polyimide coating materials at the present stage and the future development direction were proposed.

Abstract:A varnish in continuous phase was prepared and then mixed with home-made hydrophilic colloid containing dispersed globules to make a water-based multicolor coating material. Its construction process was introduced. The effects of the type and dosage of film-forming material on appearance, water resistance, acid rain resistance, alkali resistance, and fouling resistance of paint film were discussed. The film forming performances of film-forming additives and their effects on coating properties were analyzed. The effects of different thickeners on viscosity and stability of the paint system were compared. The results showed that the varnish in continuous phase obtained by using organic silicone-modified acrylic emulsion B (mass fraction 25%-30%), CF-12 film-forming agent, and non-association type alkali swelling thickener ASE-60 presents excellent comprehensive performance, while the film of the aqueous multicolor coating prepared therewith has the best performance, meeting the requirement of HG/T 4343–2012 standard.

Abstract:A self-crosslinked acrylic resin for the cathodic electrodeposited coatings was synthesized by free radical copolymerization of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate(DMAEMA),2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA),Nhydroxymethyl acrylamide(NHMA),methyl methacrylate(MMA),butyl acrylate(BA),etc.The factors influencing the water solubility of the resin and the properties of the coating film were studied.The results showed that when the DMAEMA、HEMA and NHMA were 16%,15% and 6% of total monomers content,the initiator azodiisobutyronitrile(AIBN) was 2% of total monomers content,the reaction time was 2 h and the electrodeposit voltage was 125 V,a nice coating film could be gained which had a smooth and bright appearance,good properties with thickness of 22 μm and glossiness(20°) of 123.9 and is suitable for the finishing of high decorative surfaces.

Abstract:Abstract Light curing coating has many advantages and it has the potential prospect in chemical engineering. It could be popularized as a new paper-reinforcing agent. In this paper, the waterborne epoxy acrylic photosensitive resin was prepared with the raw materials of epoxy resin, acrylic acid, and maleic anhydride. Its applications were studied in coating and wet-end addition during pulping and papermaking. At the same time, the effects of feed ratio (Solid content), pH value, and UV (Ultraviolet) curing sequence on the strength of the resin were discussed. The results showed that the physical strength of papers was significantly improved when the resin was used in coating and wet-end addition. In addition, the photosensitive resin had the characteristics of being fast and environmental-friendly. It indicated that the waterborne epoxy acrylic photosensitive resin met the requirements of being a paper-wet strength agent.

Abstract:The research relates to a method for preparing an in-situ crosslinked polymer coating. It has excellent solubility in aqueous alkaline solution, but didnt dissolve in general organic solvents and water. The crosslinked polymer coating was made through the reaction of a copolymer derived from diacetone acrylamide (DAAM) and ethacryloyloxyethyl-carbazochrome-p-toluenesulfonamide (MCTS) with a crosslinking agent, isonicotinyl hydrazide. The two components were dissolved in 3-methoxypropanol to prepare the coating solution, which was then coated to a grained and anodized aluminum substrate and dried at 120 °C for 5 min to obtain the crosslinked coating. There exists intermolecular hydrogen bond between the pyridine ring of isonicotinyl hydrazide and the sulfonamide group of the MCTS unit of the copolymer. The reaction between the hydrazide group and the carbonyl group during the drying process generated the hydrazone bond, resulting in the crosslinked polymer coating. The intermolecular hydrogen bond and the covalent bond render the coating insoluble in most organic solvents. However, the hydrogen bond was readily broken down when the coating was exposed to aqueous alkaline solution due to the ionization of the sulfonamide group, causing rapid dissolution of the coating. The coating was also used as the under-layer for the preparation of a double-layed CTP plate. The performance of the double-layed CTP plate was preliminarily studied.
