Chinese Sociolinguistics over the Last Decade

Abstract:A survey of major domestic Chinese journals indicates a remarkable progress Chinese sociolinguistics has made over the last decade, and the first few years of the 21st century witnessed an upsurge of research in this field. New developments have been made in areas of theoretical considerations, language variations, language contacts, and language planning. This paper believes that a brief summary and review of previous research will help to understand the direction of development in Chinese sociolinguistics and provides reference for future research in this field.
