Abstract:The primary mission of this design is the air conditioning design of a hotel in Guangzhou city. The calculation of cooling load & heat load, division of the air conditioning system and the determination of the scheme, the design of the duct and water system, and the design of the smoke prevention and extraction system are all included. According to the related standard and considering the energy saving and comfort requirements, the air conditioning system are determined through the economic and technological comparison. Primary return air system is used for open office area and dining hall; fan-coil units with fresh air system is adopted for the guest rooms of the hotel; and the VRV system is adopted for the large conference room. The new air in restaurant rooms and the large conference room is handled by full-heat type fresh air exchanger; new air in guest room is handled by air conditioning units.

Abstract:Nowadays people are excessively depending on air conditioning to create a comfortable indoor environment, but it could cause some health problems in a long run. In this paper, wind velocity field, temperature field and air age field in a bedroom with wall-hanging air conditioning running in summer are analyzed by CFD numerical simulation technology. The results show that wall-hanging air conditioning system can undertake indoor heat load and conduct good indoor thermal comfort. In terms of wind velocity, air speed in activity area where people sit and stand is moderate, most of which cannot feel wind flow and meet the summer indoor wind comfort requirement. However, for air quality, there are local areas without ventilation and toxic gases not discharged in time. Therefore it is necessary to take effective measures to improve air quality. Compared with the traditional measurement method, CFD software has many advantages in simulating indoor environment, so it is hopeful for humans to create a more comfortable, healthy living environment by CFD in the future.

Abstract:This project is about the central air-conditioning engineering of Tian Yuan Hotel,which is located in Changsha city.As the gross floors area is about(10 766.8 m~2),and the air conditioning area is about 9 228.14 m~2,and the cold load is 593 kW,we choose 2 direct burning LiBr absorption refrigeration machines: the models BZ40VⅢ and(BZ65VⅢ),with their maximal load supply,280 kW and 390 kW respectively when refrigerating.The conditioning system is divided into two different systems according to its function.The first one is for the high and big buildings such as restaurants and supermarkets;the second is for the other little rooms such as offices,bedrooms,KTV rooms.The first system adopts the complete air system,where the air-conditioning equipment deals with the supply air and the return air.The second system adopts the FCU+PAU system,where FCU system deals with the supply and the return air.The halls and the rooms which can permeate air out use natural ventilation.And almost all rooms' returning air is through the floor.The design adopts the same system to exhaust air and smoke,choosing the dual wind velocity fans,while ordinarily,it only exhausts air when the fire disaster happens.

Abstract:PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the overall flow and temperature field of the air in the whole power plant, especially around the air‐cooled heat exchanger (ACHE) to evaluate the feasibility of the thermal plant project.Design/methodology/approachThe commercial computational fluid dynamics code FLUENT with standard k‐ε turbulent model was used. The buoyancy of the air was also considered.FindingsIt is concluded that plume recirculation occurs in each case due to the wind effect and the suction of the fan. Installing a side board below or above the fan platform (side board I or side board II) is an effective method of avoiding the plume recirculation and, the higher the board, the better the effect. When the height of the side board I H1≥10 m or the height of the side board II H2≥12 m, the temperature distributions of the fan platform will be sufficient to meet the requirement.Research limitations/implicationsA proper distance between the adjacent high buildings and the ACHE should be found with further investigation.Practical implicationsThe paper presents a very useful numerical method for the prediction of the flow and temperature field around ACHE or in a large space.Originality/valueThe paper provides the numerical simulation of the flow and heat transfer inside the whole thermal power plant. Suggestions which can effectively avoid the unfavorable influence and ensure the whole system in safe conditions are offered. The study gives some useful information to the design of a thermal power plant with an ACHE system.

Abstract:As a newly developed industry, refuse incinerating power plants with air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE) systems benefit both environment and energy savings. Since the exhaust steam of power plant is cooled in the atmosphere, the pressure of the exhaust steam fluctuates with variation of air temperature. As a result, the generated electric power of a power plant with an ACHE system is considerably influenced by meteorological conditions in the region where this type of power plant is built. The present work studies three different designs of a refuse-incinerating power plant with ACHE for a real project. Under the local meteorological conditions, the overall flow and temperature fields of the air in the whole power plant, especially around the air-cooled heat exchanger, are numerically investigated with the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code FLUENT and the feasibility of the project is then evaluated. In addition, a comparison of these three designs is also provided, including the performance of the exchangers and the fans, the collocation of the exhaust gas pipe, and the costs of the ACHE system.

Abstract:Due to energy constraints and people's increasing requirements for indoor thermal comfort, improving energy efficiency while ensuring thermal comfort has become the focus of research in the design and operation of HVAC systems. This study took office rooms with few people occupying them in Wuhan as the research object. The EnergyPlus-Fluent co-simulation method was used to study the impact of 12 forms of air distribution on the thermal environment and air-conditioner energy consumption. The results indicate that 3 m/s supply air velocity and 45° supply air angle are more suitable for the case model in this study. The EnergyPlus-Fluent co-simulation method used in this paper provides a reference for the study of indoor environments in offices with few people occupying them.

Abstract:The design method of ambient room,which makes the major part of the thermal performance test system of traveling crane air-conditioners,was discussed specially.According to the design feature and work condition of traveling crane air-conditioners,the structural design and equipment layout of heat-insulating room was given,while air processing scheme was determined and the calculation for air processing system selecting was done referring to related standards.The design of zeroing fan was also given as well as the test software was developed.The experimental system designed in this way was applied to thermal performance test of the crane air-conditioner for one company and the expected design accuracy was achieved.
A Simplified Thermal Comfort Calculation Method of Radiant Floor Cooling Technology for Office Buildings in Northern China

Abstract:The increasing application of floor heating technology promotes the development of floor radiant cooling technology (abbreviated as FRC technology). Many office buildings in northern China try to use FRC technology to cool in summer, but thermal comfort is the key problem restricting the promotion of this technology. The thermal comfort problems of an office room with floor radiant cooling were studied in this paper by the methods of numerical simulation, control variable, and data fitting, and the experimental results were verified in multiple ways. It was found that, for an office room using floor radiant cooling, the effect of the floor surface temperature on thermal comfort was about 16%, while the effect of indoor air temperature was about 84%, and relative humidity had little effect on thermal comfort. A simplified thermal comfort calculation model was proposed, which could be used as an indicator to adjust the floor surface and indoor air temperature, or could be used to calculate the PMV-PPD value. The findings have guiding significance for the design and control of FRC technology.

Abstract:When the Urban Heat Island effect gets more severe, the role of air conditioner systems in buildings becomes increasingly vital. Nonetheless, due to the aesthetics of city facades, it is a frequent phenomenon in China to disguise the outer units of HVAC systems. The shading of the outer units has a significant influence on the overall performance of the HVAC system, and if the inlet air temperature rises too high as a consequence of improper shading, the HVAC system's use and lifespan will be significantly shortened. This paper simulates the effect of two common forms of shading on the air inlet temperature of outer units in the old city of Nanjing through simulation software. Through numerical analysis, it is found that no matter what kind of occlusion. When the shelter is too close to the outer machine, it will lead to a significant increase in the air inlet temperature, and the main reason for the increase is the high-temperature air return from the outlet. The research results can provide guidance for building facade design.

Abstract:The sensible heat loads in datacenters are high-density, and improving the energy performance of heat extraction is an important aspect of the energy conservation of datacenters. This paper focuses on the heat extraction process of a datacenter in Beijing, in which a cooling tower is adopted for free cooling and water-cooled screw chillers are utilized for mechanical cooling. The tested coefficient of performance (COP) of this air-conditioning system approaches 9 in free cooling mode, but is lower than 3 in mechanical cooling mode; the PUE (power usage effectiveness) is lower than 1.2 for free cooling mode and is approximately 1.4-1.5 for mechanical cooling mode. The nonuniform temperature distribution of the exhaust air restricts the increase of the supply air temperature and the required temperature of chilled water. Accordingly, suggestions for improving the temperature distribution and increasing the temperature of the chilled water are proposed. An innovative LTD (large temperature difference) distribution system, increasing the chilled water temperature for heat extraction and utilizing a natural cooling source as much as possible, is introduced, and its operating modes are described in detail. It is easy to realize the changeover between natural and mechanical cooling sources in this new process, utilizing the natural cooling source more conveniently and efficiently. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. Reason And Solution Of Unsatisfied Parameters In High -Bay Depot And Moisture Condensation In Connected External Corridor In A Cigarette Factory

Abstract:In winter the indoor temperature and humidity cannot be satisfied in high -bay depot and moisture condensation exists in external corridor connected to the depot in a cigarette factory. Through site test and numerical analysis, it is deduced that two stock entrances at 10m height cause part of supply air bypassing to the connected external corridor from upper space of the high -bay depot, which results in both of the above problems. Then a retrofit scheme by adding two small chambers at each end of the corridor is proposed. In the chamber which is closer to the depot, perforated ceiling air supply is designed to resist the bypassing air. Further simulation result shows that the air flow between tthe high -bay depot and the corridor can be effectively cut off and the existing problems can be solved. The results can provide some references to similar air flow distribution design and retrofit.

Abstract:In this paper,Airpak3.0 software was employed to make numerical simulation and analysis on the indoor flow field,air age and carbon dioxide concentration of a typical residential building under different air supply rates by the fresh air exchanger,and the improvement methods for the operation of the fresh air exchanger was summarized based on the simulation results.The results showed that the installation location,the new air volume and the direction of air supply were the main factors that influenced the distribution of the indoor flow field.Besides,the fresh air exchanger was able to make real-time adjustment and air supply control according to the detection result of the actual indoor CO2 concentration,thus avoiding the problem of lack of new air volume and the increase in energy consumption due to excessive new air volume.

Numerical analysis on design cooling load reduction ratio of stratified air conditioning system in airport terminal buildings

Abstract:The design cooling load of stratified air conditioning system in large-space buildings is usually calculated by the empirical coefficient method,and there is little research on the airport terminal buildings.Takes the departure hall for remote parking bay,departure hall for near parking bay and chick-in hall of a terminal in Wuxi as examples.By modifying the air jet parameters in summer air conditioning design condition with the CFD software,the average temperature in occupied zone would reach the indoor designed requirements.The cooling load of stratified air conditioning system is decided by the air jet parameters,and the reduction ratio of cooling load of the stratified air conditioning system to that of the well-mixed air conditioning system is obtained.The difference between 1 and the reduction ratio is the empirical coefficient value for cooling load of airport terminal buildings.The results show that the empirical coefficient for airport terminal buildings should be from 0.85 to 0.95,due to the small proportion of cooling load from the envelope and few exhaust openings in the upper zone.

Abstract:Compared with traditional air-conditioning systems which aim at maintaining the designed indoor air temperature and humidity, radiant panels are capable to improve the human thermal comfort through the direct radiant heat transfer with occupants. Based on the Fanger's thermal comfort model, the simplified PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) model and calculation equation of cooling load are established. This paper analyzes the relationship between the human thermal comfort and indoor sensible cooling load, and explores the design and operation methods of indoor parameters. The model room with typical boundary conditions in the hot-summer and cold-winter zone of China is simulated and analyzed by Airpak. The widely accepted PMV and PPD (Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied) indices are adopted to evaluate the indoor human thermal comfort. The parameters including the radiant surface temperature, the air supply temperature, the relative humidity and the ratio of the radiant surface areas are researched. The optimum indoor parameters in typical summer conditions are finally obtained, it is expected to provide a relevant reference for the design and operation methods subject to the radiant panel combined with fresh air system.

Abstract:The conditioning system is divided into three different systems according to its function.The first one is the high and big room such as restaurant,and the second one is the meeting room,and the third is the other little rooms such as office,bedroom,KTV room and so on.The first system adopts the complete air system.The air-conditioning equipment deals with the supply and the air return.The second system uses the PAU+ AHU system,AHU system deals with the returning air,and PAU system deals with the fresh air.The third system adopts the PAU+FCU system,FCU system deals with the returning air.Natural ventilation is used in the hall and the rooms which can prevate air out.And almost all rooms' returning air is through the floor.The design adopts the same system to exhaust air and smoke,and the dualwind velocity fans are chosen.Ordinarily,it only exhaust air,it does not exhaust smoke unless the fire disaster happened.

Abstract:The aerodynamic and acoustic performance of an indoor unit of a DC-inverter split air-conditioner is simulated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational aerodynamic acoustics (CAA). Numerical predictions of the flow rate (FR) and band sound pressure level (BSPL) are verified by experimental data and used to create an improved design. The parametric influence upon the values of FR and BSPL for the unit is analyzed for various cases of geometrical parameters of the indoor unit and the cross-flow fan. Two improved designs are developed that can increase the FR for the existing prototype of indoor unit while the BSPL remains lower.

By comparing and analyzing the temperature distribution and air flow of workshops with different window structures, we obtained an optimization of natural ventilation design for industrial workshop.
